We were asked by a nice but loud cm at the animal kingdom to have our disney resort ids out and ready. Let me tell you she was checking EVERYONE, the rest of the non resort guests were held back to the right behind a nice big white rope. I actually felt sorry for them as we merrily strolled through the gates.

I think they don't open the parking lot, so people are coming in only on resort transportation. I'm sure people slip in through the cracks.

You MUST have resort ID in order to enter the parks on an EMH morning. If you don't have it, you don't get in. Every other person in your party can have it, but if you don't, then you're waiting outside until the park opens for day guests. I've known many a person to have to head back to the resort to pick up their ID.

This is probably a stupid question, but I like to know everything...just in case.....

my 3 year old will have an annual pass to get into the gates...but they will give her a resort key/ID so that she can enter EE with us, right? ****First trip that she'll be over 3...I'm a newbie.

Yes, all resort guests get a Key To the World ID card at check in.

thanks for the answers. We will be onsite and friends (who are related to a CM and staying offsite at said CM's house) will be joining us on some days.

Since they will be meeting us at our resort and we will be taking WDW tansportation to the parks, i was wondering if they could get into EE with us, or if we should just avoid EE to keep from getting split up.

Will definately avoid EE on the days they will be coming to visit us. That extra hour isn't worth making our friends wait an hour outside the park.

Can't you just meet your friends at a designated spot when the parks open for everyone? That way they aren't out there waiting any longer than they would otherwise and you won't have to miss EE.

I think if you are 2 and under you don't need a resort i.d. (cause you don't need a ticket!) but my 5 yr old had his own resort i.d. which we needed to get him into the park and for his FP. It was just like ours except no charging priviledges.

Last trip (Nov. 2002) was the first time we were ever checked for resort key cards at the opening of EE and although theychecked on more that one of the 7 days we were there, they did not every time. On one occasion my 24 yr old daughter and my wife didn't have their cards with them. I just told the CM, 'They're with me' and we entered without a problem.

We have on occasion been asked to show resort id at EE and those times the CM jut sort of walked by the line and glanced to be sure everyone was holding something. I dont think we had our kids ids with us and no one ever said anything. This past Dec at MK we arrived around 7:30 for EE one day and hardly anyone was around. As we were walking toward the gates, after the bag check, a CM asked us if we were resort guests. We only said yes and he said, well go right on in. :D
I would never take the chance and try EE if I werent staying on site, not only because it would be wrong, but for fear of embarrassment if I did get caught, but we have found they arent overly strict about checking.

we were offsite but had ps for the castle. they checked our names on a clipboard and we were let in.

I found the posts really interesting and was surprised that anyone had problems.
We did the EE last week on Sun, Mon, and Tues. My DH and DD and I stayed at the Poly, the other 5 members of the family were off site. We ALL got in EE and no one asked for ID. The only park that seemed to be checking was MGM on Tuesday and they still got in. (we were already in the park and they were running 15 min late to meet us.)
Now on the other days we did arrive before the EE time and go in with the crowds. I think if you are there right at EE time, they would let you go in but if you are wandering in at 8:30, they would stop you with the "rope". The one morning we had PS so they would have let them in anyway if they were asked, but no one did.

Also one other note about ID. Ours all had my name on them, DH and mine said Adult and I got one more room key for DD so Nana could babysit at nap time, but her's still had my name with Child on it and it looked the same. How are the CM's supposed to check if they are all the same?

loriandmatt I forgot one thing,
here is a note on the CM guests. CM's can't get in for EE. It is a big no no.
One of our group was staying with a CM friend of the family and she did not meet us for EE. She called us when they arrived and we met them then.

We did MK, AK, and Epcot for EMH last year and the only park that checked or even mentioned resort id's was Epcot. And they only checked adults. I guess you just never know.

This is how it is done. For one thing, YES, the parking lots are open, as many guests who stay onsite prefer to drive.

They are VERY thorough with checking the resort IDs for EMH mornings. You must have your admission media, as well as a room key for each and every guest in your party. If you don't, you will be asked to move to the side and wait for the regular 9 am general admission opening.

Don't worry, WDW has this one under control!

We were just there 2/6-2/14/04 staying at Coronado Springs, and only my DH and I received room cards, not our DS12 or DS9. We used EMH at Epcot and our party of 4 was asked to show resort ID, so DH showed his card and they waved all of us through.

No, I wouldn't try it if you weren't a resort guest, but on the other hand I wouldn't stress if EVERYONE in your party doesn't have ID's. I don't think they could have turned us away, when the kids never had one to begin with.

Disney does tend to trust that the kids following you into the park are yours and, logically, staying with you. However, if your kids had tried to go to EMH on their own, they'd have had to go back to the resort and have a card issued.

When we were at AK last summer, they were checking resort IDs. One man put in his ticket and was on the park side of the ticket machine when the CM asked to see his resort ID. He didn't have one, so she escorted him out of the park.

Just my two cents. Alot of the controversial topics on these boards I could really care less about such as refillable mugs or bringing food in the parks. However, using EMH when you are not a resort guest is another story. I pay premium prices to stay onsite because of this perk. I could go offsite and pay alot less money if I chose too. If you want the perks, then pay the price. Dreamalittledream mentioned that they had 5 others that went to EMH that were not resort guests. What if most resort guests started bringing offsite guests with them. What was once a perk of low crowds for resort guests has now become normal waiting times. Unfortunately, most of the times we have gone they were not checking IDs like they should have. This should be a very simple principle: onsite you get EMH, offsite wait til regular opening like everybody else.

Amen to that RescueRanger! I just came back from WDW last week and they did check our resort ID's at MGM, they had two lines , one for resort guests and we all had to have resort ID's and the other one for regular day guests, those were still waiting outside.
I'm sorry but I do think that if you do want to have EE perks, pay the price, but I also believe that Disney should be more consistent on checking id's. JM2C.
BTW, neither one of my kids had ID, but dh and I did and we never had a problem.
