We would rather carry around gift cards than a lot of cash. Plus we can save 5% by getting them at Target. Are they accepted everywhere on Disney property? I'd hate to get there with a lot of gift cards and not be able to use them.

They are accepted like 99% of places on property. There is 1 store in World Showcase that I'm not sure if they take Gift Cards (the Japan department store) and then several places at Downtown Disney do not. Besides that every where else should take them except glow vendors and balloon vendors. as they are cash only. You can usually get the glow stuff in the gift shops though.

Like the OP has mentioned they are accepted at almost all locations at WDW. We would give them to our kids so that they had cards to get things with without having to carry cash into the parks....it worked well for us.

If you can get the 5% discount through Target then I would recommend giving it a try.

They can be used in the Japan Department store Mitsukoshi.

That's our favorite store and we use them there every time we go!

I charge everything to our room then I go down the the front desk anda pay on my acct. with the Disney gift cards. I usually drop by every day or every other day.

Are they accepted most places at Disneyland as well?
As a PP said, Disney Gift Cards are only accepted by Disney-owned locations in DLR's DTD (so, they can be used at WoD, Marceline's, D-Street, Vault 28, Anna & Elsa Boutique, Disney's Pin Traders, and (maybe) Wonderland Gallery). Inside the parks, most places accept Disney Gift Cards (the only ones I'm not sure about are the third-party vendors). There are a few things that are not equipped to handle gift cards (the same places that don't take credit cards) - such as balloon sellers, pressed penny machines, some walking around vendors, etc.
