Are direct point costs changes random or fairly predictable?

Is there any rhyme or reason to the times when they change costs? I guess I’m interested in the resorts they are currently selling (RIV) and the resorts that are “sold out” (VGF). I know incentives change at posted dates, but is there any way to figure out when the base price will change? Is there any data from the past that may indicate frequency? Thanks.

It’ seems like it’s about once a year for the newer resorts. It was $185/pt for RIV when I bought November, 2019. It went to $195 at some point in 2020 and is now $201.

Sold out seems to be the same...maybe once a year, but some have not changed even that often.

Do you happen to recall the time of year of the last price increases?

There was a price increase on VGF earlier this year as well I think in January.

I would guess this as a 2021 calendar:
  • May end of current incentives
  • New incentives May - Sep
  • June/July - 50% chance price increase to sold out resorts
  • Aug/Sep - 50% chance price increase to active sale resorts (RIV/AUL)
  • Sep - Point increase requirement for direct
  • New incentives Sep - Nov
  • New incentives Nov- Jan
  • End Nov - Early Dec (Disney VISA discount but still worse than summer incentives)
  • New Incentives Jan - May
  • Price Increase Jan ALL RESORTS
You are new here so keep in mind I don't know, I am not connected to Disney, and I could be way wrong. I am basing it on how I would think if I were going to be buying in the next 12 months.

They recently started the process to remove what was on the Reflections site. That means there is no new WDW DVC construction for years, and they are in no rush to sell RIV.

I would expect to see even more increases across the board and DL to price higher than initially expected.
