Are costumes better quality at Disney Store or DisneyShopping.com?

I know they're better at WDW! But I've never gotten anything from disneyshopping. I like the look of their Belle dress better than the Disney Store one.

I can't speak for this year's costumes, but I can tell you that last year, disneyshopping's costumes were horrendous. I work for Disney Store, and up until October 1, 2005, we were accepting returns from disneyshopping -- people came in all the time with those costumes, wanting to exchange them for ours. The fabrics were awful, had bad stitching, you name it. :sad2:

I'm not sure which are better but they are EXPENSIVE! I went on ebay and got a brand new Snow White costume for $35 and a new Jasmine costume for $25. I should be receiving them in a few days. There are many gorgeous costumes on ebay. I'll post again when I get them if they are good quality. One of the sellers has alot of other costumes also...Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty...

Oh I wish I had seen this thread an hour ago :sad2: DD wants to be Kim Possible for Halloween and my friend that works at Disney Store said they aren't ordering those this year. I ordered from Disneyshopping thinking it was the online version of the Disney Store. That is the link they give you when you google Disney Store. I looked for the costume on eBay and they don't have it. Has anyone had a good experience with the online costumes? Can you send them back if they are really bad?

lila - any thoughts on the disneyshopping costume? Did you get it yet?

I used to work at TDS until last fall...and I agree about the quality of the online store's costumes last year...it was pretty bad. A lot of our guests were not happy about it. We had many wanting to exchange it for ours.

I think it depends on what your definition of expensive is. For example, the Ariel costume on disneyshopping.com is about $40...only $5 more than what you paid on ebay. And that's not including the promo code they have right now. I know you got a Snow White, and SW isn't on their site yet, but typically the non-deluxe dresses go for about the same amount of money. Deluxe dresses are the ones that get really high up there...at about $75 or more for the dress alone. I think my only issue has ever been with the Jasmine costume...I always thought they overpriced that one.

I like the ones from Disney Store better but last year DD loved the deluxe Cinderella bride in the catalog. So we got it for her and it is made good and looked beautiful too! I'm sure if you have a problem you could send it back. I had a shower curtain that tore the day we put it up and they sent me another one free. Hope that helps. DD decided on the Belle Costume from Disney Store this year.

We did get the Kim Possible costume and all I can say is it's okay. Part of the problem may be that I am comparing a plain cheerleader costume to DD's usual choice of princess costumes. Those costumes have so much detail and make this one look very simple. The fabric does not feel as nice as the Disney Store costumes we have and some of the stitching along the waist of the skirt is not straight. None of the flaws would be obvious if you aren't looking for them, but it's still a little upsetting when you pay $40 for the costume and then $10 to have it shipped. I have to say it is better quality than most kids costumes you would find someplace like Target or Walmart. DD is happy with it so we're keeping it. If you really like the cotumes online, I would give it a try. I think the quality is good enough that it will hold up not only through Halloween but for plenty of princess dress up play princess:

I did talk to someone at the Disney Store about the costumes and she said that since they were bought out by Children's Place, the quality of their costumes has really improved. CP knows how to make long lasting clothes and it shows in the Disney Store costumes. CP does not make the costumes for the online store so there is the difference. Just my 2 cents ;)

for the younger kiddos.......walmart has the disney costumes too....like snow white and cinderella....

not really sure- most of dd costumes are from the online store and they have held up very well with all the dress up parties the girlies have had. I think the only ones that I purchased in the store was the snow white. blue dinoranger, buzz light year and belle. I had to take one of the princesses back to some snagging but otherwise no complaints. :confused3 my son has worn all of his PR costumes from both and not one has torn from all his ranger activities in the backyard.. dd wore the deluxe belle costume from the online store on our cruise last year. I didnt pay more than $35.00 on sale.. she was beautiful. the little girl next door wore it to her valentines party at preschool this year! the girls love them all. btw- we bought the kim possible after halloween and dd is just now big enought to wear it. she likes it! I think as far as prices- I have paid more when I bought them in the store..
