Are Capri Pants still 'in'?

Last week at WalMart, I got several capris (White Stag label)....all in a thinner summer STRETCH "denim". I got them in khaki, black, & pre-washed denim. They also had white & solid blue darker denim. They have a cuff you can turn up or completely down to adjust length. No pockets to add to bulk. Flat front. Elastic waist. Bottom of leg flairs out just a tad; not straight cut or tapered. Fit nicely on my 2X bottom which is all in gut & butt. They also had them in regular sizes. I think they were $14.88.

I also ordered several pairs from Roamans.com. Many colors in a soft cottony material (like thicker tshirt)....and some seer-sucker. These all have side pockets that add to bulk. Elastic waist. These also seem wider legs than Walmart. Great for lounging, but seem hot on really hot days. My favorite is heather grey.....I have several & wear with everything all the time.

Still available everywhere. Not crazy about gouchos though. Flash backs to 7th grade. I think those are a fad & will be gone next year.

BTW, I'm 42. 1X top & 2X bottom. I NEVER find anything at Target that is size or age appropriate. So I don't even look there anymore. I swear they don't even HAVE a women's dept.

I'm 45, but other than that, I could have written this post. I so agree about Target--their women's dept. is a joke.

And I don't care if capris are in style or not--I love them, I wear them, in fact, I'm wearing a pair right now!

Yeah, but the one thing you really don't want when you're shopping for capris in the juniors department is a crack up, if you know what I mean (even if it is on topic).

They may still be in style but I'd hurry and buy some.... it is June and 90 degrees so they should be putting the winter coats and sweaters out any day now!

I dunno about capris. They look horrible on me. I'm a fan of burmada(sp)shorts. right above my knee.

even if you're kindof short, I think they'd still look okay, they might actually lengthen your leg. and if "crotch crawl" is a problem, try buying a size larger than you actually wear.

Boy, did I get scared seeing this thread! Relieved to find out that capris or "cropped pants" are still in since that's all I wear all summer. I don't feel entirely comfortable in shorts in public - will only wear them in 90 degree weather when I'm desperate! LOL!

They're out. And it's 94 here. But it "feels like" 99. No joke. That's what the weather folks said. "Feels like." As if I didn't already know that it's hot enough to fry eggs on the sidewalk.

Oh, yeah. Back on topic. All I wear in summer are capris and billowy skirts. Since I work full-time, the only chance I get to wear shorts are for a couple of hours in the evening and on weekends. I only own three pairs of shorts. And nobody wants to see me in my "evening" shorts. Trust me on this. And I have a pretty decent figure. Since I'm a major tightwad, I refuse to buy shorts for one vacation. Thus, you can expect to see me at WDW this September wearing my two pairs of decent shorts, capris and billowy skirts. And the world is a much better place for this decision.

However, if you're reading this Mel, I will NOT be wearing a skort.

EWWWWWWWW! :rotfl2:

I prefer capri's over shorts but have to have petite sizes. I usually get them at JCPenney, they have lots of styles but do tend to have less this time of year because they are clearing the summer clothes and getting ready for fall.

And just because I'm curious..what defines the 'mom jean'?

If you can button your pants with your teeth, you're wearing "mom jeans".

If your pants get caught in your bra, you're wearing "mom jeans".

LOL...this thread is hilarious!

Capris are still being worn in Tampa.

Ok..I found one pair of capris that were in the price range I was looking for and also looked halfway decent on me (here ). I got them in black and I'm kind of considering going to a different WalMart on Weds to see if they have the brown ones in my size (because the one I went to today didn't). They are so comfy!

It's a store that is in my local mall. I know that they are nationwide because other DISers have posted about their great sales before.
