What I do is hold down the button (it auto-fires) and move the gun around a lot. You kind of never hold still. Use the laser in a sweeping motion or a circular motion, rather than point and fire. It will register hits regardless if you dance over the target. Once your get a bead though it's pretty easy to follow. You can practice on a wall away from the other targets so there won't be other people's red dots around.

What they should do is put a light layer of fog into the ride area, and the whole beam would become visible. I do not know though if this would be too good for the animatronics or the ride system.

We prefer Buzz even though we do lose the dot sometimes. If I lose mine I kind of wiggle my gun in a blank area and then know that the dot that wiggled was mine.
