Are Bounce-back offers the best deals you can get?

I'm just wondering how these deals compare. Obviously there's a short time to act. We typically do a week vacation at a moderate with tickets for the time we are there. We usually get some kind of discount when we book but I feel like it may only be 15% or similar perhaps?

Meals plans are not a big deal to us really.

In my past experience the BB are close to the Florida Resident and AP discounts. You may find better discounts through third parties, but you may not. You just have to do a little research when you are ready to book. Right before you go on your trip, go online and see what some of the third party companies are offering for room and/or ticket rates, so you will know if the BB is better.

The BB is usually better than the general public discounts Disney offers.

It really depends. Our family stays at a value resort. I originally booked our upcoming trip using a BB offer last year. Earlier this year they offered a FD offer. I switched to that as the amount of money I was saving per/night using the BB offer was less than what we would spend on food each day. For us the FD offer was a better opportunity so we switched from a BB offer to a FD offer.

Since you stay moderate, your experience may be different.

First the BB rates are tied to the Resort tiers: Deluxe, Moderate, Value. Here are the current discount levels for 2024/2025.

The current bounceback is a 25-35% discount off specific 2024 / 2025 dates.
  • Save up to 35% on select Disney Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resorts
  • Save up to 30% on select Disney Moderate Resorts
  • Save up to 25% on select Disney Value Resorts
You can find all the details here: https://www.disboards.com/threads/b...are-back-for-2024-2025.3680214/#post-59165493

These BB rates are often equal to AP or Florida Resident discounts or the BB rate may be even 5% better than AP and Florida Resident rates.

A BB offer is not really a risk as you are able to modify your BB offer to any available current available offer. You can also book multiple stays. And as @scrappinginontario posted above if a better offer pops up you can always compare and switch if you find a better offer..

Here’s how I’ve looked at it over the years. There have been times when some dates were included in BB offers that were not included in later offers. If you wanted those dates & didn’t book the bounceback, you never had an option for a discount later. Sometimes future offers aren’t as good of a discount. For ex, POFQ in the past you might have gotten a 20% BB discount, but only had a 10% discount on later offers. I book a bounceback so I know I have some type of discount. If another discount comes out later, great! You can always change if it works out better for you. If your resort or dates aren’t included in any future offer, you don’t have to worry about it or get stuck paying rack rate.

BB is usually a better offer, but not always. Disney released an annual pass discount for POR in a stay in December that was a better discount than the BB offer we had originally booked. The AP discount was 35% while the BB was 30%.

From what I've seen it really just depends on so many things, such as dates, resort, room type. Since the bounceback was reintroduced I've gotten 35% off of club level rooms on three separate occasions. The same rooms were not even included when the GP and AP discounts came out for the applicable dates. In my opinion, if you can spare the time to make the rather lengthy phone call to get a bounceback in place, do it. Modify to a different discount later if it's better.

One thing to be aware of if you do call to try to modify, be really. really careful with your wording to the CM. I had one really great deal cancelled when I called to discuss a change to the original reservation. Once a bounceback is cancelled it can not be retrieved if you are outside of the seven day window.

Another tip is to look at actual offers, don't just rely on %off and assume the room you want to book will ACTUALLY be 30% off rack. These days the offers are often "up to 30%" but often the actual discount is lower if you actually check the pricing on a specific room. Disney offers can be a bit deceptive that way.

Sometimes I have come out ahead booking a later offer, especially if I was open to a room change of some type.

In our experience, yes most times it's the best we can get. We've booked bouncebacks and then compared when new deals come out and almost always the bounceback is better. I believe we've had a time or 2 where the AP discount was a bit better later, but 9 times out of 10 thr bounceback is for us.

We originally booked a BB reservation for May at POR for 5 people. When we decided in April to change it to just the two of us at BWI in August there weren't any AP reservations available for the room type we wanted, but our TA was able to get our BB changed to BWI at a better rate than was available via the AP rates at BC or YC.

All that to say, YMMV.

Another thing to consider is that the BB offer may only apply to very specific rooms. For example I was quoted a BB rate for CS CL Deluxe room. The regular CL room ended up being the same price without a discount, so not really a savings. In other examples, the TPV or WV categories maybe discounted but not the Resort View categories.

Sure, this is true with all discounts. You always need to compare to see if it’s a good deal for your situation.

A lot of it depends if you want to stay in a value or moderate resort and you're looking pretty far out since you're already there it doesn't hurt to grab it, you can always change it if something better comes out later. But if you're looking at renting dvc points you will always save more money that way if you're wanting to stay in a Deluxe resort versus using any kind of room discount Disney offers. I'm booked with a bounced back offer at Gran Destino Tower for next September where I got 30% off the room. But when I was there I could have also booked my trip for next may, but since I wanted to stay at the Boardwalk it came out much better to rent dvc points (saved an additional $700 total over Disney's 35% off BB offer.)

Received a BB offer earlier this month and got a better deal via Disney’s special offers page for the dates I wanted.
