Are beer tokens still a thing?

After a long absence, we’ll finally be back on a DCL ship in September (the Wish — yay!). We have two beer tokens from our last cruise on the Magic. We had intended to exchange them for beer mugs on the last night, but we got busy packing and forgot. I’ve held onto them all this time and I’m hoping we can finally exchange them for mugs. Does anyone know whether DCL still does this?

Yes they do. We have had 2 for years and just used them again on Magic in Jan. We have used them on all ships. It is designed so that you do not have to take the mugs home but if you do, don't forget them on the next cruise to get the mug deal.

This reminds me that somewhere we have a beer token or a mug, not sure...and I know I have a Drink of the Day glass. I used it twice in 2019, but I think it got packed away when we moved and left packed because...COVID.

Which reminds me - anyone know how this currently works? We purchased it ahead of cruise - but then what? Does it show up in App once your on ship? Do you pick-up with Guest Services?

Can we bring a mug back from a prior cruise (2020) and turn it in for beer tokens? In other words, can my husband bring his mug back to avoid buying a new one and still take advantage of the 20 oz drinks?

Sharing our recent experience, we just disembarked from the Dream on Friday. My husband took his token to the bar almost immediately upon boarding only to discover that there were NO beer mugs available on the ship anywhere. The only cruisers to receive them were the ones that pre-ordered them through the Onboard Gifts. But of course they couldn't be exchanged for new ones or for plastic ones. Hopefully it was a temporary supply issue.

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. I’m not sure when (or if) we’ll take another DCL cruise after this one, so I really want to come home with two mugs. by the time we cruise, I’ll have held on to the tokens for almost 7 years!

That is correct, one size beers (pint glass) everywhere.

I have the token from my last cruise. This is that Credit Card size card that says "BEER" ..

Is it a certainty that these card size tokens are no longer valid and only the actual mug will be acceptable? Just want to clarify.. I have the mug here at home in the bookshelf and would hate to take that with me..

I remember reading using an old token might work, though you will be charged regardless. YMMV.

Ok the token is still taken or if you have the mug you can bring it back. It is not to get your beer free as the previous post says, it is to give you 20oz of beer for the price of a 16oz so yes you will be charged for your beer but you get more beer. Again, we used our tokens (10+ years old) on our cruise in Jan of 2022. If they are out of mugs it is due to a supply issue.
