are autograph books worth it

One suggestion - I don't know how many days you are going to be down there, but maybe just carry they around for 1 day - make that your autograph seeking day. Lots of people do it if their kids are shy - they need the autograph books as a reason to go up to the characters.

My girls LOVE having autograph books!! We ahve been getting them for my girls since each of them were about 2 yo... They have all of them form all of our trips..

This trip we just came back from was the first time we have done an autograph book. We just got one book, the kind with a sleeve for a picture next to each autograph. Make sure you remember to take at least one horizontal picture with each character for this type! It was a lot of fun and I was surprised that we almost filled it up. Now that we are home we need to get the pix put in it, it will make a great souveneir!

I wasn't sure, so I waited to see what DD4 would say when we were meeting the princesses - sure nuff, the first thing out of her mouth was "What is that book Cinderella is writing in?"

She was totally obsessed with autographs the rest of the time.

My girls were 12 on our first trip and they loved their autograph books. One of them forgot hers at the hotel one day and we ended up buying her another one because she seen her all time favorite character Stitch and I would have been a horrible mom if she didn't get his autograph:)

My daughter wore a baseball hat while we were there. We carried a sharpie marker and she had the characters sign her hat. I got pictures of the characters signing the hat and one is even wearing it. She wore that hat everyday, 9 days at the end of August, and the signitures didn't fade, it was great. The hat has a place of honour in her room.

We didn't know they did this, but when we went to see Goofy my DS had his goofy hate and t-shirt on, and Goofy gave him a little pin to put in the ear of his hat, and offered to sign his hat...it was priceless :thumbsup2

The kids loved getting to meet all the characters and have their books signed when we were there. I agree with taking them only one day though. Otherwise you may spend your entire vacation doing nothing else!

I had my boys carry their own, in fanny packs. We all had fanny packs. The autograph book and marker were in ziplocs, so they didn't get wet.

But I didn't buy the official autograph books either. I found smallish Disney-themed notebooks at Dollar Tree. The kids didn't care.

That's what happened with my son, only he was 3 and it was Buzz that prompted the response (at Disneyland, Buzz signs autographs, though I hear he doesn't at WDW). We're still working on getting his autograph for that first page of DS's first autograph book, since he was his very first character meeting!

Thanks for all the replies - I just ordered them off of e-bay.

I was going to suggest that...there's actually a vendor on ebay who makes autograph books with special Disney fabric, and makes little bags in matching fabric and "webbing" straps so you can use the strap as a pin holder if you want. I've never really wanted her books, but the bag is super-cute. And that way the kids could just carry their own books.

I got DD one with the picture slots and she shows it to everyone. It is a great way for them to document their trip and she is still impressed that Cinderella would sign her name in her book. I also like it because it is a quick way to show of Disney.

We just went on our 1st DLR trip this summer. I wasn't sure if autographs were necessary either, but our vacation pkg came with an autograph book, so I handed it to my DD9, and she collected many more autographs than I expected - it made for some special moments, and some of the sigs are quite cool - Pluto and the Princesses have some serious flourish. The most memorable was at the Lilo & Stitch breakfast, and my extremely shy DS5 decided *he* wanted to ask Stitch for his autograph. Stitch practically knocked him off his chair, pressing his huge ear in his face, waiting to hear the 'magic' word. My DS was giggling so hard, he could hardly breathe, let alone say "please."
