We have received AP vouchers, but have not exchanged for actual passes, just wondering if they are refundable and if so what would the process be? My parents can't decide if they are/aren't comind down so I don't want to get stuch with AP's when we don't need them.

Officially, no. There's no advance purchase discount, so I would not buy them ahead of time.

Don't think of yourself as "stuck" with them. They will not expire & you can use them at a later date. I had a Universal AP that I had gotten a few years ago for $99 thru AAA (when they had their deal). I got it for my son. He never used it. My daughter's friend ended up paying me for it a year & a half later, then activated it. I am sorry I sold it :sad2: now they are $179 & my daughter may be buying one for her boyfriend, and my son is now saying he may want one. Soooooo if you already have it, don't think you are stuck with it, there will come a day that you will be using it & the way the price goes up & interest rates on bank accounts aren't, you will be ahead of the game ;)

They are not refundable, but can be exchanged for MYW Tickets.

No they can't.

You may only UPgrade tickets, and getting Magic Your Way from an Annual Pass is a DOWNgrade. The only way to make an exchange would be if this is a regular Annual Pass and they wanted a premium annual pass.

Is that true that the vouchers are good forever? I am in the same situation, but with my kids. My daughter is 18 and doesn't think she wants to come with us this time. My son is 15 and doesn't want to miss certain school activities when we go. If I buy the 4 passes, can I perhaps just use them with my husband next year?

Yes, the vouchers are good indefinitely as long as they have not yet been redeemed for actual Annual Passes. If you use one of the vouchers to book a room with the Best Rate Program, however, that partcular voucher would then be tied to the name of the person under whose name you made the reservation and that voucher could only be activated in the name of the person on the BRP reservation. The voucher wouldn't have been activated by making the reservation, but would be tied to the person's name. In other words, if you use a voucher to book a room with BRP, you will want to use that particular voucher on that vacation.

Another option would be to pre-order two AP vouchers for yourself and your husband. You could then use either of these vouchers to book a room with BRP or to order a Disney Dining Experience card. If either one or both children end up coming on your trip, you could either purchase APs for them when you activate yours at the parks or you could purchase MYW tickets for them at the parks.

Yes you can get a refund. I was going to return my vouchers last summer & do the free dining instead. I called & was told to write a letter and enclose the vouchers.

I don't think this is right. IIRC, GoldenOldie has posted that the vouchers are like gift certificates - you can use them to buy any type of tickets (even more than one from the same voucher), including MYW. You can't get a cash refund if you don't use up the entire value of the voucher, though.

Best wishes-

Vouchers aren't gift certificates, they are just a paper voucher stating that you have paid for a certian type of admission ticket , you cannot use them towards what ever type you want. Only upgrades are allowed, not downgrades. I can see them giving a refund in certian situations, but are normally nonrefundable.
The vouchers are called "Exchange Certificate". The front of it states to "redeem this Exchanged Certificate for the ticket type stated on the reverse side at one of the following ticket sales locations at the" etc... then the reverse side states "Nonrefundable" and also tells you what type of admisssion you have purchased. If there was a way for me to paste it on here I would (but I can't figure it out :rotfl: ). So while they are a "certificate" they aren't a gift certificate, but an exchange certificate. There is only one exchange per voucher, not as many as you want using one voucher.....they are purchased as if you are purchasing the admission ticket.

Now that I hear GoldenOldie said that they work like a gift certificate, I'm not sure. :)

I was under the impression Disney wouldn't give money back on tickets, and only alowed a 1:1 ticket exchange. With that, there's no Magic Your Way ticket that is equal to or more in cost than an Annual Pass.

BUT, this wouldn't be the first time I was wrong! :) (Maybe the second time!!! ;) )

Sorry, but yes you CAN. I downgraded and had no problems. They will not give you any type of refund, so I spent an extra $20 bucks or so to get extra MYW Tickets.

Take it easy there!

I just admitted I was wrong! RIGHT before you posted!

We are all here to help each other the best we can :sunny: I truly didn't thing they allowed you to downgrade, but knew that there are times they will give a total refund (depending on the reason) You are correct on the 1:1 ticket exchange...one ticket per voucher... :) ... and they will allow you to upgrade at anytime (more money for them ;) )

Yes, you may have gotten a different admission ticket, but you still paid the same, so therefore Disney isnt' loosing any money. I know you are calling it a downgrade, but you actually just exhanged your admission ticket, you didn't get a refund. I was always under the understanding when you downgrade something, you get your difference in price back (hence...downgraded) not just an even swap out of tickets. So in actuality, Dinsey doesn't allow the downgrade, but they will give you a lower priced admission ticket at the higher price you paid.

Wow, what a spirited discussion.

Here's the story in a nutshell:

An unexchanged voucher for and AP/PAP/SP can indeed be used towards the purchase of MYW tickets instead of being redeemed for the Annual. The only stipulation is that you must purchase enough MYW tickets so that they total more than the value of the exchange voucher. They will apply the value of the voucher towards the transaction and then you pay the difference. There is no refunding and you cannot just exchange the voucher for a single MYW and say "I don't care about the price difference. Keep it."

I include my usual caveat on non-standard Disney ticket transactions: You may find that the policy described above will vary from CM to CM. Some will do the transaction with no problem. Some will say it cannot be done. Some will never even have heard of it. If you have a problem doing this, ask for the CM's supervisor. It most definitely can be done.

This makes sense now. Before when reading, someone posted "gift certificate" and it isn't a GC. When reading the other post, it lead to believe that you can purchase a voucher & use it on what ever you want. If indeed (which I am sure some CM's will do it) it is done, Disney is giving you a credit for what you have already spent, therefore allowing you to spend up to if not more than the original price, however, there are no cash or credit refunds for unused portion of funds...

I'm the one who used "gift certificate" and I stand by my post - it does not say you can "use it on what ever you want".

This is exactly what I posted:

AFAIK (and most who post here will undoubtedly agree), GoldenOldie is our resident expert on WDW tickets.

Best wishes-

Actually Snacky, you said you weren't sure. I was simply stating that I was able to exchange my vouchers for MYW tickets.
