What we plan to do is.. We are a family of 5 my youngest will be short of 3 by a few days so he is not even on the plan. But he sure can eat so we are going to a couple TS that I know my older two kids would not eat half of the food so we are going to pay out of pocket for all 3 kids. We will save the two older kids ADULT TS for a extra day of food at crystal palace. My older two are considered ADULTS on the plan so we wont be cheating anyone. We will be paying OOP for my youngest at some TS meals because he does not have his own because of his age. This is the easiest way for me I don't really want the hassle of splitting meals..

I think the subject often turns contentious because some posters refuse to actually answer the question at hand.
Please allow all posters to post what they feel is relevant, as long as it isn't violating the board's rules.

Post and let post. Enough with the meta-discussion, okay?

Right. So, if we can just try to do the following, we could keep the meta-discussion to a minimum:

1. Try to Understand the OP's question.
2. Try not to read in malicious intent.
3. Present a relevant experience, answer, or suggestion.

I think the subject often turns contentious because some posters refuse to actually answer the question at hand. Instead, rules are quoted and accusations of "cheating the system" are thrown around. I don't know everyone's situation, but maybe some of the "Dining Police" don't travel with children. Therefore, they don't see that there are legitimate questions that may come up regardless of reading the official rules. For example, maybe a family is concerned about keeping track of credits because they may split up in the parks and not use all their credits at the same time. Others seem like they are just trying to find a way to satisfy their family's eating habits while staying within the rules.
I like reading these boards and get some great info from doing so. It just seems that some people see the words "DDP", "Credits", "Adult", "Child" in a post and they rush in and start quoting rules without even trying to understand the question. This in turn causes the mods to shut down the thread and the question never really gets answered.

Well said!:thumbsup2

Wow! What a sensitive subject. We are talking about a multi-multi billion dollar corporation that uses some of the most sophisticated technology on the market to track where you are and what you do at their parks. I wouldn't get so worried about CS credits on the DDP. If Disney was really concerned about CS credits this would not even be an issue.

Threads are closed when people either state that they plan on not following the DDP guidelines or posting ways to circumvent the guidelines. The DDP board is meant to share information on the DDP without violating Disney Guidelines. The board policy is also once a Discussion thread is locked, reopening the discussion is not allowed and is actually considered an infraction of board rules. This is why you see this topic closed so quickly, so often.

Here is a link to the Guidelines.

I would much rather close a thread than issue infractions. ::yes::

I don't want to get involved in the great debate, but I did want to add that one time last week we ate at a place that didn't have any kids options. I can't remember the name but it was in MGM, near ToT and RnRRC and served Pizza. They allowed both our kids to order full adult CS meals. I don't know if this is official policy or just CM discretion.

There is a list of such eateries in the FAQ thread, stuck up at the top of the Dining Plan forum.

Thanks, you alone do us a real service here on the Dis.

Cute.

Actually, he does do us a real service. If you take time to read the exhaustive DDP FAQ (which noone does, because it's a lot of work, and it's not about me, and I just want to post about me!), you will find that bicker spent many hours compiling, organizing and writing all that info, and putting it in an understandable format. He is also a constant source of information for the rest of us who are too darn lazy to read the FAQ, about everything from how many credits you get to whether donuts are available for a snack credit at a particular resort.

Bicker does occasionally get on his high horse...but he has also made huge contributions to this board. Anybody can criticize, but not everyone contributes. Bicker contributes.

I don't always agree with him, but I do always respect his contributions.

I won't argue that. But it would be more helpful to use all of that knowledge when/where it's applicable. It wasn't here. :headache:

May as well go off on using an expired refillable mug or swimming at the Poly without a ressie.

Really? When someone asks "are adults' and kids' credits separated?" it is not appropriate to answer, in effect, (1) yes they are, according to the terms of the plan; (2) this is enforced at TS restaurants; and (3) enforcement at CS restaurants is much more limited (i.e., you're on the honor system)? That response is complete AND factual AND to the point AND non-accusatory. If someone thinks it is accusatory, methinks they doth protest too much.

Here's how I would have responded to the OP: A set of adult credits costs $39 a night and a set of kid credits costs $11 a night. So yes, they're separated: kids credits can only be used to buy kids meals (at CS places with no kids' menu, there's no actual difference between adult meals and kids meals) and vice versa. Now, if for some reason an adult wants to order off the kids menu, reports in this forum indicate he/she will be accommodated (and charged an adult credit) more often than not as it is obviously in Disney's economic interest to give less in exchange for more, but your mileage may vary because the system obviously isn't set up to allow redemption of one type of credit for the other type of meal, and your CM may not know how to do a workaround.

Would that have been better?
