I just find it funny that every time I email an owner, I get the "our condo is 5 miles from Disney entrance" comment. Some do not even want to give me the physical address. When they do, they are usually at least 10 miles from Disney, LOL. Why can't they just be honest?

Check out this map ...it shows you how far all the developments are...i got it from another dis'er.

Also if they don't want to give you an address I'd be leary of renting from them!

Wow that's a big help! I won't rent from anyone who want at least tell me what community the condo is in. Right now I am looking at Laguna Bay or Sweetwater Club condos.

I highly recommend Windsor Hills! We love it there! Although this time we are staying in Indian Creek since there will be 7 of us and my in-laws want more space!

I wish I could afford WH. I am looking at a Laguna Bay 2 bedroom condo that is only $500/week with everything. The WH ones were around $700-$800 for my dates(June).

That's why we bumped to I C this time...more space for less money!:thumbsup2

I'm okay without a specific address until a few email messages have been exchanged, but I'd insist on knowing the subdivision right up front. Some devious people troll for addresses of short-term rentals, because those houses are much easier pickings for theft.

do they say Disney entrance or from Disney.

Disney is a BIG area. so they could be close to Disney - just not the entrance.

if they are staying Disney entrance - then ask which one? Disney has several entrances.

what I get mad about are all the ones along Old Lake Wilson -that say they are in Celebration. Celebration stops before it gets to that area. now close would be different. they are close. but they are not in Celebration.

check the zipcode if you can get it.

oh this is been used by the hotels in Kissimmee since Disney opened. saying they are close to Disney. and implying they are close to the entrance - when they are miles from it.

It's a down economy and in a down economy everything is negotiable. I would tell them exactly what you want to pay and see if they decide that what you will offer is better than nothing.

BTW Windsor Hills will also brag about being some hellaciously short distance from the WDW entrance but see how long it takes you to get to the Magic Kingdom or DHS from there.

You may also want to check out places that rent timeshares. A 1br in a place like Westgate would be perfect for you because it's right in between WDW and US. Sheraton Vistana is also a good one to look for and I'm sure some other folks could make recommendations. A search of the Hilton Parc Soleil on this forum will find you a story about someone who rented a place there dirt cheap. So keep looking.

I am pretty sure I am booking this one at Laguna Bay

It's $507 including everything for the week.

We're spending our first night at the Radison Hotel Orlando(priceline) and then a night at Universal's Royal Pacific to get two days FOTL at Universal. We will probably spend most of the rest of the trip at WDW, so being really close to Universal is not all that important. The owner has told me there is a shortcut to Universal that makes it as close as Disney if we decide to spend another day there.
