Are all the Character swaps closed??

hi i made a post about maybe trying a full page swap -- which didnt go over so well -- lol -- someone said there were 2/3 character swaps in progress -- which i would love to join -- but i guess im not smart enough to figure out how -- lol -- i see 2 threads but they both say closed. since no one seems interested in doing a full page swap -- ill try a page kit or element swap -- ive never done one before -- at CTMH -- we just do full page either 6x6 or 12x12 -- we even do like ABC swaps 6x6 and `12x12 where u have to do 26!! but its all in good fun -- u get your albums done super fast!! anyway just let me know if anyone has anything open that they need a spot filled. got back from disney a few months ago and have about a thousand pictures to swap -- lol -- let me know

fill faster than I can get a spot in them. I am disappointed that the board is this way. It discourages new people from coming in. I swap regularly on other boards without a problem. I can barely get in if I can in the elements swap.Do you just have enough swappers that you don't need new ones? I am an avid swapper and this board is intimidating.

and i agree!! i have made several posts about trying to either host or join -- i understand about being nervous of a newbie host i 2 have gotten burned in swaps -- but i think everyone should be open to new ideas -- i had the idea of a page swap -- we could either do a 12x12 or 6x6 -- and beleive me someone else can host -- because im currently hosting 6 swaps on my CTMH board and i know it can be hair raising!

i just don't know how to join in any of the swaps -- they all say closed?? it does get frustrating and intimidating when it seems like its the same group of people in all the swaps -- why post here and not on a private forum? please be open to the prospect of new ideas and new people wanting to get involved!

Perhaps you could ask the host of the Character swap if there is a group you could join. That swap was just closed on Saturday so it hasn't been up long.

Also, there is a Everyday life swap coming up in a couple weeks. Check the boards and sign up as when she opens that swap.

I just started swapping here last summer and everyone here is very friendly and there aren't a lot of "rules"

I am also one of those burned by that ABC Swap that others have mentioned. That was my first swap and the host didn't mail out but 4 out of 13 boxes. I did get a box, but even then it was missing two letters. She kept everything else. I spent a lot of money on Bazzill Paper and Jolees stickers. Luckily I did a couple other swaps since then and they turned out great.

Welcome to the board. Just keep checking to see when sign ups get posted. Then post a message to that particular thread and the host will add you to the list. They are talking about having another Secret Sister Swap too. Those are lots of fun! What is the CTMH board?
I don't know if I would want to sign up for a page swap, I like to be creative with my pictures and elements. WHat do you do if the photo mat is horizontal and your picture is a Vertical shot? Or do you get the paper and elements for the page and then arrange everything yourself?

ETA the two character swaps were open for quite a while - about a week I think. Keep an eye on the swap calendar, and if you see a swap you like but know you won't be able to check the boards (eg because of work) PM the hostess and ask her to keep a spot for you. Hostesses have done this for me if I've been on vacation, or because of the time difference. Honestly, no-one is trying to keep out newbies, we love new blood! (mwah-ha-ha)

please don't give up on us, we really are a great group! Like they said, look at the calendar ahead of time so you know what is coming up and when. This will tell you when the swap will be posted.

I'm quite a newbie really - i've only taken part in a couple of swaps and even the first one i did,i didnt have a problem with! look at the calender and if you want contact the hostess before hand if you want to! x

Keep an eye on the calendar and then when it gets close to signup date the hostesses usually post a 'coming soon' thread so if you subscribe to that (and also the calendar thread) you will know when there are addtions. When I log onto Dis I go right to my subscribed threads to read updates.

There are some of us who tend to stalk (we were all stalking new year's day) but I have never missed a swap yet for not signing up the minute it's opened. There are usually plenty of spaces and we'd love to have you.

Feel free to ask any questions though - everyone is very helpful.
