Are all teenage Girls Grumpy

Yeah, what is it about them being grumpy to Moms? My DD can be a grump to me and when DH comes home, she's suddenly not so cranky. Is it the mixture of way too many female hormones in one place at one time or what?

I think all teenagers, girls and boys, are grumpy - and especially to their parents! They don't want to admit they really like you when it's cool to complain about their 'rents to their pals. Good news - they do grow out of it - eventually.

 :p  ;) :o :(

Isn't that the truth! How funny to use the dwarfs (plus one - I like that sleezy addition - is that the adult version of the movie ;-)) as an analogy - so on target!

As a former high school teacher, it was interesting conversation at parent-teacher conferences - some parents would ask if their child was being mouthy or disrespectful because that behavior was the behavior at home - and usually it was not the behavior in my classroom. And then on the opposite end, are parents who you WISH would ask about behavior but don't and were simply AGHAST when told that their child is disruptive in class....

just ask my mom...my sister and I were grumpy and grumpier through our teenage years (only to my mom though!). My dad thought we were angels and my mom though we were the devils reincarnate!! :teeth: I wish I could tell you were less grumpy with our mom now, but i would be lying. :teeth: :teeth:

Only every other hour. :teeth: It helps if you react like it's a roller coaster. :)

I dont have any teenage girls but my 2 oldest sons are 15 and
12 (will be 13 in May) and I have learned to just ignore them when they are grumpy. It seems to me that mom is usually a main target of this. If they are to grumpy I just sent them to their room so I dont have to see scowling faces or hear unpleasant comments. Oh well my 2 little ones are 10 months and 3 yrs so atleast I will get a few years break before the next round of hormones.

As the mother of a soon-to-be 14 yr. old daughter, I'd say that "grumpy" is the polite word for what is actually going on. Although I have to say she is really quite charming when she wants something!

Our DD 12 going on 40 is the same way, especially where mom in concerned. Dad doesn't put up with it, and she knows when to stop, when dad says he's had enough.

At school, we get nothing but praise, about how well behaved she is, the teachers tell us they wish they had more students like her!!!

Where is that child when she is at home:confused:

Wow, I must have a strange daughter (if only you knew...!) but she RARELY gets grumpy with me.

When it DOES happen, I just ask her if she'd prefer the Midol or the .357 magnum.:p

A few years ago, we made a pact (in writing) and posted it on the frig. I was starting menopause (some of you will KNOW what I mean) and she was about to start having periods. We WANTED to kill the other, but realized how lonesome we would be, and that the survivor would have to do the dishes by herself (must have a sense of humor in my house). So we put an end to grumpiness.

AND we both started taking B complex vitamins which really help with the PMS!

THANK YOU for starting this thread! You should see my collection of self help books that don't help! I have a 13 YO DD. She informed me that Disney is for kids and that she'll just stay in the room when we're there. Fights with her 9 YO brother like there's no tomorrow, grumpy with me but straight A's and QUIET in school. Go figure.

Any tips on doing Disney with her????

if shes anything like my dd15 tell her you can check out all the hot guys together, its actually really fun..we dont have the same taste in guys so we do alot of laughing...it really helps but gets on dh's nerves... thats just a bonus!!!hahaha

GEEZ LAWEEZE!!!!

I'd be happy just to settle for Grumpy!!!

The real kicker for me is when she gets mad at her mom but turns it on me and the two of them go on "buddy buddy"!

What to do with her at Disney? That ones easy. Our daughter stayed with friends of OURS (although she likes them too) while we were gone for a 10 day trip in 2000. We had a great time (just the two of us) and can't wait to go back again, hopefully this fall when she starts college!

:D

In middle school I was VERY grumpy, all throughout high school I've been very pleasant :teeth: lol

Asked DD 16 this question just now. Her response was "What's the fun of being a teenager if you can't be grumpy?"
She was laughing when she said it though.

We went to WDW this past Dec with 16 and 20 DD's. Thought we might not enjoy it as much but we had a great time.
