Hello Everyone,

Are all the entrees listed on the menu available on the dining plan or are only certain entrees.....I'm looking at the menus and don't want to pick a particular restaurant because of a particular item on the menu only to find out I can't have that item.

Thanks!

All entrees are permitted. Dining plan guests do not have to order from limited or restricted menus. If something is listed as "for 2", it is generally allowed if two dining plan guests pool their entitlements for that item.

Certain restruants may have restrictions. For example in November we at at the Marrakesh Restaurant in Epcot and we told if we wanted to order a sampler plate we had to add a suplemental fee. If interested in a particular dish that is on the expensive side you may want to call first and ask.

There are a very few common-sense restrictions. Items designed for multiple patrons may either be excluded or count as the entitlement for more than one person, typically the latter.

The Marrakesh platter upcharge is a rather unique exception, and derives form the fact that it basically includes an appetizer as well.

On the other hand, items some might fear are excluded, such as the Narcoose's surf & turf, are permitted under the dining plans.

The known exceptions and limitation are listed in post #1 of the FAQ, and the majority of those have to do with DxDP appetizers.

Also note that the menus often change, so be prepared for the chance that the menu(s) you see on line may be different from the one on the day you go.

Looking for clarification on this as well. Specifically there are a few TS restaurants that have entrees that are considerably more expensive then others, ones that are a combination of items. For example, Chefs De France's
"The French Menu" and the "Le Cellier Experience".

An entree is an entree is an entree. The $30 steak or the $14 pasta. Both are available for the same credit.

The "fixed price" three course menus are eligible for DDP TS credits (there's a lot of speculation that they were created specifically for DDP customers). Generally, you're getting a lower-end entree in exchange for adding the appetizer. Also, absolutely no substitutions are permitted on those menus.

We have done the 3 course fixed price menu at Le Cellier, Kona, Chefs de France and enjoyed having the apps included. If you like the choices, its a good way of using the standad DDP, but as stated, there are no substitutions, but we have always found a good meal with them.

At Teppan Edo another family at our table was told they couldn't order Sushi with their DDP. It would be seperated from the DDP orders and they would have to pay for it OOP.

Ate at Les Chefs de France a year ago and if you were on the dining plan the entrée, appetizer, and dessert choice was limited. Fortunately we were on the deluxe plan and there were no restrictions. This was easily the most expensive meal of the whole trip and one of the best. I think the meal plan paid for itself that day based on dinner alone!

All restaurants that have the fixed price 3 course opion for 1TS credit have only a few choices, but if you like them they are well worth it if you are on the regular plan.. Most have 3 choices or so for each course only. If you want anything else on the menu for an entree, you would have to pay OOP for an app. Dxdp is way too much food for us. we end up taking some snacks or prepared CS salads/sandwiches for the drive home because we often share meals.

That's if you went for the three-course menu. You should have been able to order the normal entree plus desert off the normal menu with basic DDP.

Agreed We end up taking home most of the snacks (like fudge etc) because we just don't need it along the way. Though i could see traveling in Summer using them for water easily. If every meal is booked as a TS you do get way too much food. Going to the french restaurant or the Coral Reef for that matter pretty much covers the cost in one meal for the whole day so who cares if you do a CS breakfast etc.

The nice thing about it though is it does include appetizers which the basic plan no longer does and does not have some of the restrictions. The Resort refillable mug is a nice addition as well. I like knowing going in just how much my food cost is going to be then not having to think at every meal how much can i buy. Also with three meals a day and that much food i can do a signature mean and not care if i used two TS credits and get by one day on two meals.

If you have eaten there on the DDP and been able to do this than I stand corrected. As of a year ago however i was pretty sure those on the Disney dining plan had to chose from that fixed price menu, while those on the deluxe plan had no restrictions. I believe the menu indicated for those on the Disney Dining Plan. This was the only restaurant i went to that I remember encountering anything like this. I would just make sure that there is something on the fixed menu you like just in case....

We go to WDW several times a year and eat at Chef's de France almost every trip. We are pretty much always on either the basic DDP or the DxDDP. There has never been a restriction on any entrees, regardless of which plan we are on. As the other poster said if you want to order the fixed menu, then they allow absolutely no substitutions. If ordering off the menu however, there are no restrictions. While on the basic DDP we have had the steak, salmon, tiger shrimp, short ribs (my favorite) and duck (my husband's favorite).

I believe there is a notation on the chef's menu that it may be ordered on the DDP, but that doesn't mean you can't order something else off the rest of the menu if you want. The only restriction we've ever found at Chef's de France was actually on the DxDDP. I wanted to order two appetizers instead of an appetizer and entree, but they wouldn't let me.

True, but there are few exceptions. On the DxDDP we have been able to order both the antipasta platter for two and the calamari for two at Mama Melrose and the cheese/sausage plate for two at Rose & Crown, using only one credit. We didn't have to pool them. We've done this several times, so it wasn't just the waiter either.

That why I used the hedge word "generally". :)

We we able to get the onion rings ("for two", at least at that time) at Sci-Fi for a single credit as well.
