I've seen several posts saying things like "I tried to book a Jambo villa with Kidani points.". Are AKV contracts specific to either building? I thought AKV pts were AKV points and could be used at either Jambo or Kidani with no "restrictions" between the two.

No, AKV includes both buildings so AKV points can be used at either.

The reason you are seeing these posts is that Jambo House sold out last year and Kidani isn't open yet. Anyone who purchased after Jambo House was sold out received ownership interest in units being built at Kidani. Since Kidani isn't available for occupancy yet those with newer contracts ("Kidani points") can't book anywhere at AKV until the planned opening of Kidani in May 2009. DVC requires that your unit is available for occupancy before you can book at other resorts, just like they are doing now with the booking restrictions on BLT. They gave DP to those who purchased recently so they could stay somewhere now but those DPs were limited to SSR, the Disneyland resorts and I believe trading out (via II/RCI).

So for some newer AKV owners they can't use their AKV points to stay there until May when their units will be available for occupancy. Those who bought into AKV earlier and got Jambo House units can book at Jambo now.

Thanks, had a feeling that was the case. I'm in the middle of an AKV resale purchase right now...guess I need to find out the original purchase date to see if those booking restrictions will apply. Thanks again for the info.

Even if you do get a contract with a unit in Kidani you can book there for any dates after the projected opening in May 2009. It is just during this construction period that they are restricting bookings at AKV.

So for example if you wanted to go in July and your resale closes in February there won't be any restrictions on doing that, other than the normal availability issues.

You need to know either the occupancy date of the unit associated with this contract or the unit number. If the unit number is 56 or lower, it is in Jambo House. Unit numbers greater than 56 are in Kidani Village. The Kidani units sold so far are all in Phase 1 with occupancy dates of May 1, 2009. I don't believe they have sold any units in Phase 2 yet. Those will have later occupancy dates (most likely Sep 1, 2009).

Unit # is < 56 so it's a "Jambo contract.". Good to know. Thanks!

Just to add onto what the other posters have already said, you can definitely book either. I bought my contracts in 2006 & 2007 so they are all at Jambo house. I booked Kidani this morning at 11 months for my December trip without any issue or question.

For the Kidani owners who have to wait, the same thing happened to me in 2006. I bought my first contract in May and then 2 of my add-ons in July, since the occupancy date of the first contract was August and the occupancy dates on the other contracts was September, I couldn't use those points for stays prior to August/September.
