Who has been on the Dream during Thanksgiving time and went on the Aquaduck? What are the time waits for it? Thanks!! :)

We sailed the week before Christmas and the kids never waited longer than 10-15 mins. We didn't get off the ship in Nassau so wait was even shorter. On the sea day they would close the line periodically to let it clear out a bit.

We did this on the day the ship docked at CC. We went on the island in the morning and then came back on board around lunch and decided to go on the aquaduck and we walked right up and went down. No wait at all.

This was my one and only time to try it. The other times it looked like a long line.

last year on the Dream we sailed in October. We waited till Castaway Day. We were on the island right away in the morning until about lunch time and walked right on, twice with no one in front of us... we would have done it more but those stairs are killers.

That generally seems to be what I hear on the boards.... wait till the ship is at a port and check out the aqua duck. It seems to be much more busy right when everyone gets on board the first day/during sail away party and when the ship is at sea. It's a lot of fun though! We only did it during the day and can't wait to check it out at night time on the Fantasy in November!

We would skip the shows we didn't want to see and ride the Aquaduck then! We were always able to walk right on and ride it over and over and over again. Half the ship was at dinner and the other half was seeing the show, so the pools were empty!!!

Keep in mind when apparent winds reach 40 mph or so, single riders are prohibited, only dual riders. When winds reach ? what 50, Aquaduck is closed. So keep this in mind. I have seen many cruisers upset that they missed their chance at the Aquaduck due to weather. On our first sailing I was so pleased later that we waited in line for 20 minutes the first day, because it was closed the last half of the cruise.

Just something to consider. Check the weather perhaps. Good Luck

Is the no single riders thing a weight issue?
What if a single rider weighs 300lbs?

I was on the Dream in April and the AD had a 15-20 minute wait whether in port or at Sea.

Seems a bit silly to only offer 3 or 4 night cruises on this ship. JMHO

They made DH ride with a child during windy weather and he was close to 300 at the time. We don't have kids so it was just some random kid. So it must not be weight alone.

Also, DH and I have also ridden together - combined weight of close to 500 with no trouble. I was sure we would get stuck.

We were on in September and the line size fluctuated. The time we did go right on and off (multiple times) was after about 8 or 9PM. It was empty!

No. When winds reach a certain point, they require all riders to be tandem, regardless of weight. I truly never understood this, but ....

Fwiw, the more weight on the tube the faster you go. :)

If a single rider weighs 300lbs then you can go solo, as long as permitted.
If restrictions are in place requiring two riders per tube than ride with someone else. We have seen many times where folks are trying to find ride mates as their family is n/a. :confused3

Aquaduck has no weight limit. If you can fit you can go. The tube is 5-6 feet in diameter is my guess. It's a pretty big slippery hole. :rotfl:

Enjoy

Is it scary? How fast does it go? Are there drops or dips? Where does it spit you out?

My kids want to ride, but I'm worried. I hate Splash Mountain, Big thunder etc. I'm afraid and hate the sinking sensation in my tummy. Even Test Track is uncomfortable for me. Although clearly, I've been on these rides, they are not my preference.

Is the Aqua Duck a real "roller coaster"????

We went November 2013. Waits were 15 minutes max while we were docked in Nassau. Only hiccups were when kids fell off their tubes which seemed to happen a lot. They had to shut down the water while a CM walked the slide to get the child & walk them out of it. Also being November, when the water jets shot us up the small hills, the water was pretty brisk!

There were times where the winds were too high & it was either closed or you had to have two passengers on a raft, no singles. I believe in Port Canaveral, it was closed due to high winds.

Not scary at all. My niece & nephew (ages 8 & 5 at the time) were a little nervous, but it's fairly calm. When you circle the deck, you have plenty of time to calmly look for people you know & wave to the crowds. :) It puts you out on the pool deck. My mother rode it a couple of times with the grand kids and she HATES roller coasters. By roller coasters, I mean Goofy's Barn Stormer had her screaming to get off! Lol!

It's very tame. I hate water parks, water coasters, etc. I rode several times without any trouble. It's a lot of fun and not say at all!

I agree with the other posters about how tame it is. I HATE water rides and such but this I couldn't wait to go on again!! There are two very small dips in it and by small dips I mean, maybe a foot?? Like if u stand the raft up its much taller than the dips. I hardly got wet at all on it too...

I would say the worst part about the whole thing is climbing those stairs to get on it lol

I love roller coasters, but I am a little claustrophobic. Is the tube kind of wide? Is it big enough to stand in if you wanted to? I guess it being clear will help. I can do most of the tubes at Great wolf Lodge because the are big or partially open..

There is a video on YouTube of a woman riding it and you can really get a feel of what it's like. I hate roller coasters and never ride them, but this looks pretty gentle and am looking forward to trying it. I had assumed it was like a water slide that you splash out in some big pool but no, you're just in a raft that comes to a gentle stop at the end.

I was worried about this too, but it's fine and not all of it is enclosed.
