APX alarm company

Hi everyone. I am new to this board so just saying hi

Just wondering if anyone has experience with this company? They showed up at my door last night selling home security systems and I am wondering if they are a good company to go with?

I dont live in the greatest neighborhood and am a single mom with a 4 year old so I think this isnt a bad idea for me.

Just wondering if anyone has any reviews or stories to share?

Thanks for the links. I had actually already looked at both sites already

From what i read on the review site, it seemed like most of the complaints were from people who either didnt listen or read the contract very carefully. I didnt see much from people discussing whether they liked the sytem or company though so i thought I would ask for first hand experiences here.

You can get a better deal through better companies. Any company that comes door to door offering you a "deal" (or even a free system) is not a company that typically I want to do business with.

I believe that is the company we signed up with 5 years ago. I recall a young man coming to the door - we were in a new construction neighborhood and a fair number of us signed up. The contract ran for a specific time (3 years?). They came into the house and put the alarms on the doors and windows and the main control panel in the kitchen. After the contract ran out, we were free to sign up with whatever company had the better deal at the time. It was/is great having the alarms on the various doors - I know who is coming in or out the minute it happens.

THanks for the info. After reading the reviews online, talking to my insurance agent and my ex (who is a police officer), I decided this was a good deal for me. They have already installed the system and so far, so good. I really like it and it is easy to use. I just feel a little safer and I can take it with me when i move (hopefully within the next year or two).

Glad to know someone else had a good experience too.

We have Brinks security system and had been wanting to go with a company who offered cellular technology so we could have our response attached to our cell phone numbers and not need a land line any longer. About 6 months ago, a rep from APX came to our house and had a really good deal for us which included the cellular link. We were very interested in switching to them. When we called Brinks, low and behold, they now have that technology, and they offered the upgrade in our equipment for free and the monthly fee was less than APX. So, we went with the upgrade and stayed with Brinks. Had Brinks not made the offer to us, we would have switched to APX. A lot of my neighbors went with APX and they seem to be happy with their choice.
