We have now got the flights and accomodation booked for next Feb, and so my thoughts turn to the AP's....

We intend buying AP's through the DVC website or Member Services using the DVC discount. My understanding is that they send you a voucher which you exchange for an AP when you reach the parks. Is this right?

If so, how long in advance can you buy that voucher before you travel? Can I buy it now for validation next February, or must I wait til next year? What happens about price increases?

Also, will I have any problems paying for it on a UK credit card?

Thanks :Pinkbounc

Hi Leise,

I have a couple of lime green exchange vouchers sitting on the desk in front of me, so hopefully I can help with your questions :)

- As the above suggests you do get a voucher when purchasing via member services or as we did via the website. When you get to WDW visit a ticket booth at one of the parks and you will be able to swap it for an AP. From memory I think they like to see some photo ID, and you will also need your blue DVC member card.

- There doesn't seem to be any expiration date on the voucher, just the original date of purchase. If the price increases after you've purchased then it's congratulations all round - you've just saved some money :)

- UK credit card should be no problem - we used our Nationwide visa and got a very nice exchange rate.

Hope this helps,
Paul

We ordered two PAPs at the end of February. I paid $10 for shipping rather than Will Call as I wanted to order the DDE card. The total was $840.72.

The lime green vouchers that Paul mentioned arrived in one week. We received our credit card bill yesterday and the passes cost us £450.92. So we paid £225 each for Premium Annual Passes!!!!!!!! That is a great price considering in the past we considered the 10 day world ticket a good deal at £199.

We recently booked 13 nights at VWL in May so we can use our PAPs then as well as for a 20 night trip in September. Great value!

I would definitely buy the passes now while the going is good, they won't be activated until you use them unlike the DDE card which is activated immediately.

All the best

I will be using mine for 30 days in October and about the same again in September next year. I intend to buy Disney Dining Experience discount cards when I arrive to get 20% discount on my meals. I will try for AP discount room rates for my extra nights. (I don't have enough DVD points for my entire visit). With my Frequent Virgin discount and great exchange rates its almost cheaper than staying at home!!!!

You have it all sussed out Andrew. I love the thought of your month long trips!

Did you get the 15% off offer with Virgin over Easter? We couldn't book as we did not know when we will be going next year yet. Great deal! Like you we get the FV discount so that is good anyway. Our trip in May was a last minute idea, we only booked last week. Virgin holidays had no flights on our dates but Funway had Virgin flights on the right dates at a very good price. We will still get our flying club points too.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the DDE is only available over the telephone and in advance.

You are right, sort of. You can only buy them over the phone. To get the most time out of their DDE card some people are ordering it via phone from WDW and having the confirmation letter faxed to their resort. Then it is valid from the start of their trip and no time is wasted.

I want the 'real' card in hand for my trip, as I felt I might forget to show the paper confirmation. I intend to keep the card in my wallet with our room charge card so it is there everytime we go to pay. Hope it arrives soon! I ordered it at the end of Feb and we leave home May 1st.

When I enquired last month, I was told that I could phone from my room to order one, and front desk would print me a letter as substitute for the card.

I don't want to order any earlier, or the card will expire before the end of my second trip. (I was told the clock starts running from the date you order)

I will howeve double check six to eight weeks before I go.
