AP's to get 20 FP+ per quarter

It's new verbiage for a reason - they don't change things like the FP stipulations on a whim.

The site was redesigned. They probably wrote up new verbiage for it, and at the time decided to make it more clear. We know many, many people who still don't understand how the old system worked. It does not contradict the old (and still current) system.

That doesn't mean that they are working in more changes...but like I said a long, long time ago, at a minimum they have to reduce the number of FPs available to accommodate FP+. So that's just going to make the existing restrictions more apparent - that there is a limited number of FPs available for each attraction for that day - and, by extension, available to you as the guest.

Are you all kidding? Do you know how many times during the average visit to the parks that my kids skip attractions because the lines are long & we have an opportunity to return at a later date? How many times they have bowed out to make room for others who may only be having their one & only lifetime trip? Do you realize how much we spend in the parks & hotels when we ARE lucky enough to visit often? Why should they have to make constant concessions to tourists because we live geographically closer? They shouldn't but they do because they have manners & gratitude. They are CHILDREN & they wait 5 years between APs in order for us to be able to afford them & the other associated costs.

We have no more guarantees of a happy & healthy tomorrow than any other person so it's absurd to think we have unlimited opportunities to visit .. & since many of us WORK in order to afford to provide our families with AP, it's not like we can all just skip off to the Magic Kingdom because it's Tueday & we have nothing better to do.

We are ALL tourists at Disney World, regardless of WHERE you live the rest of the time. Just my humble opinion. Flame away...

I agree wholeheartedly! We have not had passes in 4 years and it is going to stink if we get reduced benefits! We were already surprised to see that they enforce the times on the FP now, before you could go any time after your scheduled time. But it does make sense so that the system would work efficiently.

This new proposal sounds horrible. It may "fix" something but it will cause other problems.

To my eternal dismay, I don't live close to WDW. Still, I believe that AP holders should not be penalized for spending the significant amount of money it costs to purchase one. They should at least have the same benefits any other ticket holder has.

Now, if Disney decides to give more fp's to resort guests, that's another debate.

I think this discussion is not considering the value of AP holders. While some areas of Disney (merchandise etc) may feel AP holders do not spend as much in the parks as others, they offer something else to another area. Coporate partnerships and sponsors are a huge part of Disney's revenue. It's a hard sell to get big names and big $$$'s without big attendance #'s.
Other Orlando area attractions are coming together and offering tix's that may eat away at Disney's AP base and result in lower attendance figures. Even IF AP holders spend less on average, and I do not know this is the case, only that some people may subsricble to that belief, most Parks would rather have that money go to them than somewhere else. In this area, parks compete for AP holders much the way DIsney does to get that person to commit to thier park. Since Disney is thought to be offering more tix discount in the future and is offering some great AP deals to DVC members, I think AP holders do have value and need to realize that.

Well, if you take that in a broader sense, that has always been the case.

Re: Limited # of Fastpasses

Up til now .. as you allude to, there has been no limit on how many I may access FP on a single attraction in a given day... has there?

The only limitations I am aware of were the time restrictions per each FP and the hours of a given park being open on that day.

In other words if I could make the timing work, I could FP TSM on a given day .. upwards of 3 or maybe even 4 times if I hit it everything just right.

I believe the new "limited" speaks to limiting aspects of FP like this ... & others.

I believe this is the limitation Robo meant when he mentioned the "broader perspective". The 2-hour lockout in particular effectively limited the number of FPs available to any guest.

Until we get more details, we don't know that they are limiting the number of regular FPs per attraction - although I believe I did read that there would be a limit of one FP+ per attraction/feature.

But in the past, not only were you limited on a time basis, but you were also limited by the number of FPs available for the attraction that day...they could run out, in which case you could not get another. Not a specific limitation to you, but an overall limitation. The language could clarify that you are not entitled to a FP just because you are eligible to get one based on the time restrictions.

Much like FP+ at this point, we don't have a lot to go on. Right now, it is business as usual.

~Hey doc, I had become quite bored with this speculative topic, but when I see an exceptional post, I just can't help it, you must be told how fabulous your post is!

~Omg.... there is something to be said for good. clean. logic. I love this post, it's a really really good perspective on the current state of FP. Fastpasses are not some free for all -- they are limited, time consuming & are of very little value to me, since the enforcement.

~We may not agree on everything - but a fabulous post is a fabulous post!

~Happy New Year!!!

Okay, for starters, this new fastpass+ thing is not for me and my family. Many reasons. Not appealing at all. Probably going to stop going.

But... even if I didn't balk at the entire concept I would likely not be able to attend Disney anymore because of the wristbands or bracelets or whatever they are called. I can't bear to wear wristbands or necklaces (which is why I don't carry a shoulder bag or purse also).

I know I have more sensitivity than most but does the idea of having to wear a wristband or bracelet creep anyone else out? If anyone's mentioned this already I apologize but I skipped 10 pages due to lack of time tonight and wasn't on the boards for a few months (until a couple of weeks ago) due to work and family demands.

I know people are calling them bracelets. Does anyone have a picture of them? I'm guessing they come on and off. Would they fall off or break? What happens if they do?

I've never had to wear a bracelet all day, let alone for several days.

Guests do not have to wear the RFID if they choose not to.

It can come in the form of a "ticket," too.

Guests do not have to wear anything if they choose not to.

So, you could put it in your pocket or something?

I apologize. For some reason I couldn't see the part of your post about the ticket. Thanks!

Yes.

It can come in the form of a conventional "ticket."

That's good at least. The few times I have had to wear bracelets for short events I have felt very uncomfortable. Glad to hear it doesn't have to be like that.

Have they even issued bracelets yet? I've only seen references to them being embedded in the KTTW cards.

Not heard of any being issued, just rumors about them so far.

If you have a park and rides chosen for a certain day, can you switch days? Like tomorrow you had MK planned, but wanted to do DHS instead - can you "switch them"? The one thing I don't like a whole lot about this FP+ (though I know this is all really speculation) is that you have to choose which park for which day so far out in advanced. Dining.. you do it inside... weather is not an issue. But for rides and parades, weather is a pretty big issue. I don't want to go to MK when it's raining - DHS is better suited for rain with the majority of its big attractions being indoors (shows/rnr/tsm/movie ride/american idol/muppets).

Seems like Disney is touting that you can, but I wouldn't count on terrific availability that late in the game.

The system is broke. It gives these superusers the ability to ride an attraction 3-4 times in a day with a 5-10min wait while a tourist only rides once with a 2 hour wait. That is why it is being changed.

If people don't care enough to figure out how to use the current fastpass and choose to wait in stand-by lines instead, why would they care enough to figure out how to use FP+?

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't force it to drink...
