APs are coming

We have 7-day hoppers for our trip that is scheduled from Sept 26 - Oct 3rd and will probably bite the big bullet to upgrade to the Sorcerers pass at Guest Services when we get there. I purchased these tix thru UCT which had a savings of about $43 per tix over the WDW site. Do we think when I go to upgrade the difference will be calculated from the gate price or will they know I bought the tix from a 3rd party and they'll charge me from that price? (The difference to upgrade on 3 tix between the two is like $130 additional.):ssst:

If they continue to do what they've historically done, the upgrade will be based on gate pricing.

Write down or screenshot what the Disney online price was for the tickets you have when you bought them. When you upgrade, this is the value you should get for those tickets. Unfortunately, not all CMs know how to handle this, and there have been reports of guests’ existing tickets being valued at what the reseller paid Disney (less than what the guest actually paid)! So if the value you’re offered is significantly less than the Disney online price when you bought the tickets, ask politely for a supervisor, and try another ticket booth/GR location if necessary.

I also read they said the same about DL Magic Keys, which are still completely available. So, hopefully no problems with APs running out!

I wonder if it is just to make it clear that suspensions can happen in the future, and that there would be no actual limit.

Put people on notice. Last year, how many reports did we read of people who had not yet purchased because they figured they had time. Now, people may simply buy when they know And not wait.

If you want the Sorcerer Pass, 9 am eastern when MS opens. No DVC pricing on the top tier Incredi-Pass, so you can call ticketing beginning at 7 am eastern for that one.

Check "Annual Passes" under "Parks & Tickets" at disneyworld.com before you call to see if they are available online.

If we're upgrading unused 10-day park tickets to the Sorceror's Pass as DVC members, do we still call DVC MS or can this only be done by the general Disney ticketing?

would think about getting a pass, but the amount we travel to the parks and duration of our stays would not make up the cost of a pass, even with DVC.

MS has no way to actual upgrade tickets, Some has said that they called MS, and they were able to transfer to ticketing to get it done.

I have always done in person. Maybe the system will be set up to let you do it online?

I think we will have to wait until sales open to find out exactly the process.

I hope they don't sell out if APs before our next trip, I am dying to get ripped off massively by disney it's just the best.
Basically I need to come three times a year to make this worthwhile and at this price I'll now have to think about it rather than just buying every year without planning...interesting move by disney they really hate dvc members don't they lol. Glad I had at least a good run getting actual benefits if anyone buys direct these days they need to have their head examined the blue card is totally worthless at this point.

I'm starting to think a renewal for a Gold AP in the next 5 days will experience the same thing at Thanksgiving. Not a dice I'm willing to roll. Further, at this rate; I wouldn't want to purchase a MYW ticket at Thanksgiving betting on the come that you'd be able to apply that purchase price towards an AP at the end of your stay either. I have a feeling we haven't seen the end of this transition yet.

I'll be closely watching what happens to guests at Thanksgiving. I'd love to upgrade our tickets at Christmas to Sorcerer passes instead of Incredipass at the end of the trip.

I think someone said about $813 if you include tax.

I renewed (recovered) my gold pass last month for $765 including tax. Just read a new DVC AP now will be $953 including tax. A 24% difference. No photos and of course no fast passes. And the incredi pass is $1377 including tax for non Florida / DVC. That's $5508 for a family of 4 on top of food and room. Are they nuts?? Nothing to do with customer experience. At this rate the top pass will be $2000 in four years assuming a 10% increase every year.

So... as I understand it, if I renew my Platinum pass (currently in its 30 day window) before the 8th, it is my understanding that it retains all rights, privileges, benefits and blackout dates (none) until its expiration next August. Is that everyone else's understanding before I pull the trigger on 3 of'em?

I had previously considered downgrading them to Gold at renewal and not going at Easter next year, but my current thinking it that it's not worth the risk of being blocked at Thanksgiving (trip already booked). Not for the difference in cost and that leaves all dates open thru August. Basically, the Platinum gets treated as an Incredipass until it expires is the way I'm reading everything.

Anybody willing to comment before I blow a bunch of money? :rotfl2:

Yes, I think you have it right. I would do the same.

I would see if you could get through on the Chat, or if necessary, the ticketing line. I dunno. I feel like there are too many "gotchas" that could happen!

Hopefully MS can update existing passes to the new DVC pass. If not, I am wondering if we would be locked out in case they sell out? We are not going down until 9/11. Oy, just another thing to worry about. Disney sure is getting difficult to manage.

My understanding as well is that if you have a pass under existing rules it retains all of those rights and restrictions. So if you were to renew to a gold pass, you'd still have the same block off dates as a gold pass and still have access to photo pass

If you renewed to a platinum pass, you get no block out dates and you do get photo pass

if you renewed to a platinum plus pass you get no block out dates, photopass, and water parks.

Essentially: If you have an existing pass NOTHING about it changes EXCEPT the number of park passes you are allowed to book with it. That will only either stay the same or increase. Gold pass and higher will be able to book 5 park passes at a time.

Now when your renewed pass expires in a year (or so) from now, you will only be able to renew it at one of the new options and at the new pricing. You won't be able to renew again at gold/platinum levels. Then you will have the NEW set of rights, limitations, and pricing.

Hope this is ok to ask here...How do we dvc members buy our passes,?online? my disney experience? call member services?

I have several unused Gold Passes and renewal certificates.

When I activate them, will they carry the benefits, black out days, etc of the Gold pass or when I activate these passes will they carry the benefits, black out days, etc of the new Sorcerer pass?

TIA

There are conflicting reports right now but many have been told that when you activate it, it will become the new pass, but will include the Photopass like the gold, but will have new block out dates for Thanksgiving.

Others are reporting that it stays intact, We really won’t know until after September 8th.

ETA: Here is the info posted in another thread. Any tickets not activated by September 8th, will be the new passes, with new block out dates, but will include Photopass since it was included in the gold pass.

Along the same lines, we are assuming that rolling renewals (true renewals) do not have to be tapped before the 8th, right? I mean, I Can and would run down there before Wednesday, but it certainly isn't in the plans.
