APs and Resort guests can now upgrade their magicband

Our MagicBands were delivered and I opened them when I got home from work. They were correct, I got the Disney snacks one and DH got the Toy Story one. The packing slip inside had no charges listed like others have reported. And the charge has not showed back up since dropping off my card. FYI, I never got a shipping email at all. Nothing from Disney but my original day of order confirmation email. I got the thing from USPS that I’m signed up for that tells your mail/packages that are coming. I did have the tracking number finally on MDE. And in case anyone is curious, we didn’t have the luggage tags in the box.
 
Out of curiosity, has anyone from outside the US received an email with the specific bands listed in the confirmation for what will be delivered to the resort? I placed two orders on the first day and received generic emails for both saying that my magic band order will be waiting for me at the front desks, but there is no description of what those bands will be.

I was charged for one band (pending, then posted) where I upgraded and my mom did not, and I have not yet been charged for our family trip in June with multiple bands, though those were pending for a while (in case anybody wants the data point).

I got the email quoted a few posts ago, but that’s it after the initial confirmation email which had our bands correctly listed. This is for an end of Aug trip.

I've been occasionally poking around the MagicBand selection page to see what's available and what's changing since this debuted. I noticed this afternoon that there are two new "invisible" themes that don't have display icons but will give you the name if you hover over the blank space: "Winnie the Pooh & Friends" and "Disney Jr. / Disney Channel". These were not there at the debut last week. Suggests that they continue to build out the site and may be adding more bands. At this point, I'd have to recommend waiting - both for them to iron out all these technical problems as well as the possibility that more (or at least different) selection may be on the way.

I did get an email with a tracking number about three days ago and there are no charges to my credit card. They did substitute one band back to a basic color but without anything charged to my card I'll wait to see what happens. We are doing a split stay in October with the second resort still waiting on band choices so I'm not super worried about the subbed in band unless I get charged for it.

I would assume you are not going to get the band you ordered if you don’t call to ask them to resend it. I don’t know what will end up happening with charges, it seems odd that cards haven’t been charged yet when bands have arrived, but I also can’t believe they are going to mistakenly not chargeing a huge group of people. So who knows. How much after the fact can they put a charge through? When I called about the one band that was sent plain instead of upgraded I was able to choose a substitute one and had a pending $10.60 charge for that, I’ll keep my eye on that as well as watch for a charge for the other 3 I did get that were correct but not charged yet.

I’m in Canada. I ordered he first day. I received a confirmation email at time of order from shop Disney showing the bands I ordered & total charged to my credit card. (Haven’t checked this against my credit card statement yet), Three days later, I received the generic email from Disney Destinations saying your magicbands will be waiting for you at your resort. That email did not list the individual bands but MDE does show my correct choices. My trip is August 1. Hoping all is correct at the counter.

We got the email (I’m in the Uk) from the time we ordered and it states clearly on it one Haunted Mansion and One Darth Vadar with our names correctly listed below each one. As I said when I go on MDE DHs is back to the plain purple. He’s going to call Disney today to ask what’s going on. As I said mine appears correctly

I have the exact same situation! The plain band I received was the purple one I had picked originally so I'm OK with it. We also have a split stay in September, so as soon as they are back in stock I will attempt to reorder the snack band I originally requested.
 
I’ve also noticed the whole pending and disappearing charge on my account. I checked my bands and it’s showing up as the one I chose but DH is now back to the purple plain one. We have an email that states we ordered him the Darth Vadar one so hoping that it will be sorted out. As we are in the UK we don’t get them shipped to us.
Seems Disney massively underestimated the level of popularity (I find it crazy).
They would have been better to do it on a voucher basis so you could pay the $10 then select from store once you get there.
I like the voucher idea! Seems to make perfect sense.

The MBs available as a paid upgrade are sold by Magic Kingdom, Inc., not the Disney Store. So, separate inventory.
 
My feeling is, get it right or don't do it at all. I'm dealing with a multiple family trip right now and by the time everyone got back to me with their choices, there was nothing but solid bands to choose from. Inventory suddenly appeared yesterday morning and I still couldn't place the order. I now have multiple people going on their first trip with their heart set on special bands and I'm now thinking of simply shelling out the money and buying them on ShopDisney so they get what they want. While, in theory, this is a nice idea, the stalking of ADR's, FP+ and now specialty MB's is getting a bit much.
 
My charge dropped off and back on for pending multiple times but eventually I did get charged the $20 for our bands around the time we got them in the mail.

Ok, here’s a new wrinkle to the debacle. I ordered upgraded bands the afternoon of the 20th. I ordered four upgrades and one plain blue. I received the confirmation email for exactly what I had ordered, however, about two days later my husband’s Pirates band showed as a plain yellow band (the color he had selected prior to the upgrade) in MDE, so I didn’t know what I would be receiving. My bands came today and I did indeed receive a yellow band for him. Now here’s the wrinkle. I also received an email today from ShopDisneyParks that part of my order could not be fulfilled as ordered due to it being sold out and that I would receive a plain grey band and would not be charged the upgrade fee. Also, they were giving me a code to get $15 off an upgraded band to order through ShopDisney and a code for free 2-day express shipping! So I can still get the upgraded band, just without his name in it.

And, oh by the way, the upgraded band he ordered originally is available on ShopDisney. Go figure.
