So DH and I are thinking of planning a random trip 2nd week of April. This is the only time we can go. Usually our trips are planned almost a year in advance and we usually go in July (I know hot right? but we love it). What kind of crowds are we talking here. What about the weather? Would we have problems booking table service restaurants? The good thing would be the wait for our trip would fly by.

Any advise?:confused3

We're toying around with the idea of an April trip as well, only we'd be going the week after Easter. I've played around with ADR's for that time frame, and amazingly, have been able to get everything I wanted at main dining times - ADR's I wasn't able to get in September. (I think fall free dining has something to do with that but I am not sure).
I know the crowds will be ridiculous compared to what we are used to, but we've been enough times so that we will be able to get what we want done before the mass arrives at the parks I hope.
I also have read that the weather can vary from 60's to 90's....:confused3 Hard to tell, it's Florida so it's bound to be warmer than here in Maine.

It will be crowded, but I don't think it will be as crowded as it is in July. A good number of schools have their Spring Breaks that week, but then again, I think a lot more have theirs the week of Easter. I've been that week before, and it has definitely been manageable.

As far as dining is concerned, you probably won't be able to easily get a reservation for the typical popular places, but you definitely won't have trouble getting reservations for many places!

You may be fine. We went in April 2012. My DD's vacation did not abutt Easter (i believe it was 2 weeks after Easter). Easter isn't until April 20th so hopefully a lot of schools have vacation the third week. May want to check out a poll.
When we went we felt the crowds were comparable, if not better than, September. And the weather was SO much better. Still hot but not uncomfortable like September and far less rain. I'd go in April again in a heartbeat but unfortunately my DD's daughter's vacation touches Easter this year (and that will make airfare outrageous...we actually drove that April...never again).
Also I think you would see the Flower and Garden Fest, which is very pretty and a chance to get some unique merchandise.

we are planning on going for three weeks (will be our last trip for a good few years) in April this year - have not have any problems getting ADR s - we have even managed to get BOG which is apparently really hard to get.
