HAPPY 4TH OF JULY !!

Hope everyone has a great holiday!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

So after a nice nap and a shower, we were ready to head over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge for our dinner at Boma. We took a bus to Animal Kingdom and waited (and waited and waited) for the AKL bus.

We were still a little early when we got to the hotel so we explored a bit and grabbed a drink at Victoria Falls, the lounge that overlooks Boma. This hotel is GORGEOUS and they serve some delicious drinks.

We checked in and were seated almost immediately. Our server took our drink orders and we made our way to the huuggee buffet.

I am not a very adventurous eater and I hate to admit that I didn’t try many items at this restaurant. I loved the “Potatoes with Afritude”, the Roasted Chicken (it had alot of yummy spices), and the Prime Rib. I am a big fan of dessert so I tried a few of those, but my favorites were the Zebra Domes and the Cocomisu.

Disney092.jpg

Justin was definitely willing to try more of the food than I was. He liked the Potatoes and the Prime Rib as well, but he also really liked the Potato Bacon Soup. He doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth, so he wasn’t crazy about any of the desserts.

Overall, we were really glad that we tried this restaurant. :thumbsup2 It was a great experience and we got to visit a beautiful hotel, but we aren’t in any hurry to return yet. (I need to become less of a picky eater before I can come back here!)

After dinner we were going to head to Pleasure Island but I am an idiot and forgot my ID. :headache: We didn’t feel like going on a bus to a park, then to the hotel, and then to PI so we gave up on those plans. Plan B was to go back to the Magic Kingdom. A bus for Epcot pulled up so we figured we would go and take the monorail over to MK. As we are walking to the monorail, Justin got a little distracted and decided that he wanted to “stop in” and ride Spaceship Earth...

This was another ride we hadn’t been on in several years, and we got a kick out of the addition made to the end of the ride:

Disney096.jpg

(I had heard about that in another trip report, so I had my camera ready!)

Next he suggested Soarin’ and all previous plans for MK went out the window! We had a bit of a wait ( 40 minutes ) but it was well worth it – I had forgotten how incredible this ride was.

After Soarin’ we booked it over to Test Track. There was a 30 minute wait here – I wasn’t thrilled about waiting. I love this queue area, but at this point in the day (or night, actually) it was just giving me a headache. I do love riding Test Track at night though!

After our spin in the car, we made the long walk over to the POP bus stop (its just about the last one there!) and went back to the hotel.

Once back at the hotel, Christine was insistent that she watch “her show” (Will and Grace). So I naturally went for the clicker to watch what I wanted to watch. Well Christine basically flipped out and stole the clicker back and told me to never change her show again. After about 3.8 seconds I look over at Christine and she was completely passed out. This being the same Christine that started to show her horns when I changed the channel on her. However, I dared not change the channel on her again, for the memory of this forceful woman was still fresh in my mind and heart. So I was forced to watch the remaining 20 minutes of Will and Grace instead of seeing how my beloved Red Sox were doing.

Before wrapping up this installment, I would like to clarify three things:

1. For those of you who don’t know, a “clicker” is a remote control for the TV (I’m not sure if this is a Rhode Island thing, or just limited to my family and friends)

2. I did not fall asleep 3.8 seconds after turning my show back on. It was at least 8 seconds.

3. The Red Sox won that night. :cutie:

I thought the clicker was a universal term. :lmao:

Great update, the picture of your feet reminded me of my children every time they got their hands on my camera during the trip. I have lots of pictures of feet and extreme close ups of face.

I thought Boma was nice, but I don't have to hurry back there either.

I thought clicker was universal too, but I've used it before and gotten some funny looks (mostly in college):lmao: so I thought I would clarify just in case!

:lmao: Hilarious that you went to sleep and he still didn't change the channel!

Thanks for the Boma review/update. Good to know that even non-adventurous eaters like me can find some good eats. ;)

PS- Will & Grace is a great show...:happytv:

We then made the short walk to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Fortunately, the was NOT a tie here – I kicked butt - 252,000

Great job. Great job. :cool1:

Whoo hoo! :yay:

After parading our paintbrush around for a while,

hee hee :lmao:

As we rounded the corner towards the shack we came face to face with the DREAM SQUAD! :worship: Every person who had been on our boat was picked to be a part of the Year of a Million Dreams – we all won the YOMD Mickey Ears!

Then we got our paintbrush prize : 1 “priority entrance pass” for the 2 of us to use at any fastpass attraction in the park that day!

All that in one day?

By this point we were beat. It had been a long morning and the heat was getting to us, so we went back to POP for a nap.
Naps are good! :cool2:

Cute shoes.

Justin's not yours. :rolleyes1

Christine was insistent that she watch “her show” (Will and Grace).
Never seen it. Is it that good? :confused3

OK, I am officially the WORST Trip Report writer on the Dis! I don't mean to neglect the TR but I've actually been busy lately! I have had another installment in progress for about a week but work/camping/house hunting has gotten in the way:headache: Don't give up on me yet!

I just found your report from MeMoms. It a thoroughly enjoying it. I cannot wait to hear more. :thumbsup2

FRIDAY, MAY 23

Today we got to sleep in! (Til 8:00 AM anyway… ) This morning we were heading to Blizzard Beach, and we were a little worried because it was pretty cloudy out. We had breakfast at Everything POP and made it to Blizzard Beach just before the park opened (we were just about the only ones on the bus going there – everyone else got off at Animal Kingdom). At 10:00 AM sharp the gates opened. We got a locker, stashed our stuff, and made a beeline for Summit Plummit. Justin rode that one alone and I watched safely from the ground. After he flew down the slide at fifty-something miles per hour, we both took the stairs up to Slush Gusher.

I have to admit I was nervous to ride this one! Like I said, I’m a big chicken and am afraid of heights too. Fortunately, it was a blast! We then raced down the Toboggan Racers a few times but I can’t seem to remember who won…weird…. ;)

Next were the Snow Stormers and Runoff Rapids slides. Up until this point we spent very little time waiting in line and didn’t really notice the crowds. When we went to the Cross Country Creek (lazy river) it was packed!! There was a bit of a bottleneck at the entrance we went to but we managed to grab 2 tubes and we were off. After a lap or so, we got out and Justin swam in a wave pool for a bit.

By 1:00 PM we were on a bus going back to POP, as 2 very special guests had arrived…

We had lunch, laid by the pool, and before long we had to get ready for our early dinner at….

We waited FOREVER for an Epcot bus; well maybe not forever but at least 35 minutes - our longest wait of the trip. As we were walking into Epcot it got extremely windy and the storm clouds started rolling in. We managed to get to Canada and take a few pictures before it began to rain:

The gardens in this area of the park are beautiful:

We went inside and waited to be called:

At 4:00 PM, all of the cast members came to the lobby area and sang “O Canada” to begin dinner. This was very cool – one woman even sang in French!

We were seated a few minutes later and our server brought the breadbasket over. I now know why the Pretzel Bread gets rave reviews here on the Dis – it was awesome!

Justin and I both order the Filet Mignon with Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes. Mine was without mushrooms, truffle sauce on the side, cooked medium.

Justin had both the mushrooms and truffle sauce, cooked medium rare:

Our thoughts? BEST STEAK EVER! :worship: :worship: :worship: My steak ended up being cooked the same as Justin’s – medium rare – but I didn’t care because it was sooooo good. The Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes were delicious and I’m glad that I remembered to order them (instead of the risotto that comes with the filet).

For dessert I ordered the Chocolate on Chocolate Whiskey Cake:

I am a fan of all things chocolate so I thought this was great - Unfortunately I was too stuffed from dinner to finish it!

Justin ordered the Maple Crème Brulee:

He finished his dessert, so I am assuming he thought it was pretty good:

I know most people reading have probably already been to this restaurant, but for those who haven’t yet, GO! It was a great deal for those on the dining plan too – the bill for our dinner (just Justin and I) came to about $90.00. This meal alone paid for our DDP that day! :thumbsup2

It was pouring raining while we were having dinner, but the skies cleared by the time we were done so we took a few more pictures in the garden area:

We wandered all around the World Showcase and got a few pictures:

Gorgeous hydrangeas in France:

We ran into Belle and the Beast:

And Sleeping Beauty:

We rode Spaceship Earth again so my Mom could see it:

We took a spin on Test Track and sat in my Mom’s future car (or dream car?) :)

After Test Track my Mom went back to POP. Justin and I went to watch Illuminations with his parents and Grandmother (no good pictures – I am horrible with nighttime pictures!). After the show we went back to the hotel and fell faaasssst asleep.

Next Up: Early morning breakfast at Crystal Palace!

We love Le Cellier! We're skipping it this year as we've done it 3 years in a row! Fabulous steaks!
