Its starting to hit me that it might be VERRRY CROWDED on our April 16-24th vacation!! We had to pick this week due to school schedules. We have been spoiled the past 12 years going the first week of May. Ok here is my question: in the past we have always done a couple park days with a relaxing by the pool, or whatever day. We currently have 7 day base tickets (no hopping for us) now I'm thinking we may want to hit a park on our arrival day instead of that being a do nothing day?? It's not much more to add a day of tickets? We arrive at MCO on 4/16 at 10:35....which park would be worth it to go to if we are NOT there for RD?? Getting over a bad cold here and I'm pumped up on Sudafed so sorry if this makes no sense!?!?!?

We went 22-30 April last year and the crowds were not too bad. I mean, it was crowded but nothing bad enough to stop me from going again the same time this year! The weather was PERFECT! Sunshine everyday, no rain, no humidity! Awesome trip and I'm hoping this April will be the same. :worship:
I don't know a strategy for what parks to go to on what day. We just go where ever and it seems to work.

we usually don't rush around the first day, but am going to call and add one more day to our tickets. At least we can go to MK and just soak up the atmosphere, and have dinner. As long as that is NOT a grad night and it closes early??? OH NO! anyone know?

I *think* the grad nights are in May. I was going to suggest Epcot on your arrival day. You can get most of WS done and not have to worry about getting FPs. Or, if you are doing waterparks, you could hit one of those, dinner and an early bedtime to get well rested for your first full day.

There is one grad night at the MK on Friday, April 23rd.

You may be right as far as crowds go b/c thatis the week many schools are off in the north-it sometimes coincides with Easter but no this year. Our first day we alway**** MK first-but we stay at the Poly so it's close by!

actually there are other Grad Nights. We are coming April 27th thru May 3rd and Friday the 30th and Saturday the 1st are Grad Nights at MK, closing at 7pm that night.

Thanks. It's pretty funny. We will be there April 24th through May 1, with a MK day planned for the 30th. You would think I would be more on top of the schedule :rolleyes1.

We are going the exact dates you are and did so last year. Last year those days (well I think it was the 17-25) but that same fri-sat we went and it was the friday right after easter. That friday was the only day it was really bad. the rest of the week was crowded but not insane like I heard the full week after easter was with the closing of the parks and everything. This year its 2 full weeks after Easter so I don't think it will be bad or as crowded. Crowded yes, insane, no. There are schools up north - I think CT & Maine and upstate NY that have off, which they did last year at that time along with the other kids who had off for easter/passover week.

Oh & to answer your ? about which park to go to the first day, we get there early to and always go to a park, it was MK last year and will be again but it closes at 9pm on that friday. Epcot has EMHs until 12am - so if you weren't tired, that would give you a longer time on your first day.

Thanks everyone! I know that alot of schools are on break too, just hoping Easter is fAAAAR enough away! We will have been up since very early that AM so not looking to stay in a park for EMH, just enough to eat a relaxing dinner and walk around a little. So right now instead of hanging out at the hotel we will either hit MK and eat at the Plaza, OR got to Epcot and have dinner there.HMMMM decisions! the price difference between a 7 day and an 8 day was a no brainer:lmao:

Grad Nights are April 23, 24, 30 and May 1st so both weekends we are there  Which means on both our Fridays and Saturdays Magic Kingdom closes at 7pm so no SpectroMagic and no Wishes for 4 nights :furious:

In our area the kids have spring break from April 2-9. We are heading to WDW April 24-May 7.

What other states have spring break that week besides MA have off? I was surprised when we found out schools have a break this late. When my MIL booked our trip she picked this week because she assumed all schools would be done w/ break by then. Imagine her surprise when I told her all the wonderful information I found out here. Oh well we will still have a blast.

We'll be there the same week as you!! 17th-24th @ BWV!! A little more than 2 months away!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey you live in Westfield! We are about 20 minutes from you WOW small world after all:rotfl2:

another note on these dates, i went these almost exact dates in 2007 and didnt find the parks too crazy. i dont know what spring breaks were going on at that time, but they were very manageable. i think all of us will have lots of fun!!!

:thumbsup2

Sure there's bound to be a few districts or states that have spring break then, but vast majority of the country is done by then.
And the few that do have spring break then, probably only a small percentage of those will actually go to disney that week. (it's still a bad economy, not everyone can afford a vacation)
Add that your 2 weeks removed from Easter break, and that huge majority of schools are still in session, I think crowds that last two weeks of April and first week of may will be very managable.

(after all there's always some else going on vacation at disney no matter what time you visit.)

So have a good time.
