*April PreTrip & Trip Reports*

Garneska - where do you stay in Ocala? We are thinking of trying to make it that far the night before our Ft Wilderness arrival. We aren't sure where to stay. We are thinking we'd like a campground.....but I read somewhere that there is a rest area in Ocala with security 24/7?

We made it here! That's the good news. The bad news is that my DS is pretty sick...he has had terrible allergies and has been coughing all night. Any suggestions on a good urgent care for a kiddo? :worried:

We are going to be trying the 2000 loop also for the first time. I was bummed to not get 1500 but apparently there are a bunch of big groups there this week, and I have no interest in that! Our site is really nice...haven't set up yet as my family is still snoozing, but am excited about something different now! Hoping DS feels better soon. Last night he said, "why do I always get so sick at Disney?" No idea, poor kid.

UGH....I believe there is an urgent care type thing (looks like it is called Centra Care) right off of 535. If you drive away from Disney Springs down the row of hotels and turn left on 535, it looks to be the next left turn. On google maps looks like you should type Lake Buena Vista Centra Care and it pops right up. I have been there once before for something. The other thing I did once was the Celebration ER, but that was for a breathing issue with one oh my boys.

We will be in a full-hookup site, in order to get cable, how long of a cord should I bring? We also tent camp in National Parks with no hookups. So I figure I might as well take advantage of all this full-hookup option has to offer. We will just be in a tent.

Just so you know for future trips, the tent sites also have cable.

Thanks for the tip, but I do realize that. A tent site was the original plan, but we had to change our dates around and full-hook up was all that was left :(

A 50-ft coax cable is what you need to be safe. You could probably get by with a 25-ft 90% of the time but to be safe, go 50.

HSMYTWINS, check out your other post, i provided all kinds of info.

Chickp, sorry DS is sick, hope those allergies get better.

Hope everyone is having a great time.

Safe travels! We check in on March 29:)

I haven't seen any posting from CruisingCamper since they supposedly arrived at the end of last month.

WDW has been known to eat up posters' time and ability to update on the DIS.

Inquiring minds want to know if Napria's dog approves of their site in loop 700 also.

I'm going to step into the kitchen and pop some Orville Reddenbacher Movie Style Buttery Popcorn. I'm looking forward to updates soon.

Garnaska I'm still on the fence about going to Ocala Sun again or trying the KOA in Wildwood. We will only be there long enough to sleep some and head into the Fort around 7 am. I will let you know but we'll probably be around Ocala near 8 pm. I wanted to do the 5K but couldn't figure out how to sign up. Safe Travels and see you soon.

Hope you don't mind I will answer for him. He's staying at the Ocala Sun. I stayed there in 2014. It's easy to get to right off of 75. They have grass pull thru lots and they are a little tight but okay for an overnight. The rest stop is just past Ocala. On Google maps it's named the Marion County rest area. It has three sections for trucks, cars and campers in the back. Get there before too late. On the night I stayed there this past October the trucks had taken pretty much all the camper spots. I found one leaving and grabbed his spot. It was a cool and night I slept an hour or so in my truck so I didn't need any power. This trip all my girls will be with me and will need electricity to sleep and I'm not carrying the generator so i will probably grab a camp site.

Another campground to consider is the one I'm looking at this trip. It's the Wildwood KOA in Wildwood right near where the Turnpike starts off of 75.

Is Anyone at the Fort now that can give a WiFi report ? Do I need to worry about getting the stuff form the store or just hook up my cable for television ? We hope to be in 700 again.

Thanks. We looked online at that one and the Ocala Sun. If you go to the Wildwood, you'll have to report back (I'd like to hear about the Ocala Sun too.)

WiFi is working, no issues so far in the 800 loop. Didn't need to get anything from the store.

I believe that the cable internet is shut down. I think it was Ed that posted when the Wifi went up they shut the cable internet down all together. So currently cable is just for TV.

I found on my last trip that the Marion County rest area in Ocala worked perfectly for me, but my travel plan was different than a lot of you. In October I left here in Meridian around 1630 central time in the evening and reached Ocala around 0300 eastern time. The front truck parking lot was full, but the camping parking lot in rear was near empty. The security guard was walking around and I told him my plan was to sleep until about 0700 and he said he would watch out for us while we slept. When we pulled out it was exactly 56 minutes to arrival at Fort Wilderness (yes, driving the posted speed limit) and that included stopping at the two toll booths which at the time I did not have a Sun Pass (Thanks Randy).

However, it is as Flametamr also noted, there is a chance of it being filled up, but this depends on your expected arrival time.

Thanks y'all, DS is feeling better. Sorry to anyone in the 2000 loop that heard him coughing. He did better last night.

The wifi is annoyingly great, we've streamed several things including the national championship and also Jimmy Fallon. :-) I say annoyingly because we're all on it. Oh well! MK was amazing yesterday, not too crowded for spring break and dd and I got SO many rides in since we had an 8:05 BOG reservation!

Okay I'm ready to leave already. I'm tired from just getting ready and still have a full day tomorrow. I got my truck back last night from the dealer getting the plugs and coils replaced. The truck runs great now. Today I changed the oil and checked a few things. Then I moved the camper out of it's hole. Tomorrow will be a quick wash and starting the loading process. Then a final run to Walmart later in the evening. Friday will be final load checks early. Then getting the kids out of school a little early. Then we'll be East Bound and Down after lunch. Hopefully we'll make it to Ocala or Wildwood before 9 pm. More to follow...........................
