Do I need heating in April?
We are going for 2 weeks over Easter, the pool is south facing and I hadn't even considered paying the extra until I saw the other thread which got me thinking maybe we need it.
We haven't been at this time of year before so all suggestions welcome
Thanks
Kay

This is a tricky one.

It can depend on the pool , some we have had pool heating and still haven't been particularly warm.
The weather in April is generally perfect and despite the fact your pool is south facing and will get the sun all day long - overall I would say yes get pool heating.

Owners suggest heating the pool from Oct. to May. If you find it to cool they can turn the pool heat on and it will be there for you in 24 hours or less.

We have booked a villa over the easter period and after talking with the owner have decided to pay the extra for heating - be a shame to have a fabulous pool and it be to cold to go in and enjoy

we go in April and always have the pool heating on. If it's late April it may be ok without it - depends how sensitive you are to cool water. You could always wait until you get there then ask for it to be turned on.

I would definitely have the pool heated in April - it's not like getting into a bath, it just takes off the edge. Getting into freezing cold water isn't fun even when the weather is overwhelmingly hot.

Don't expect the pool to be warm the day you arrive. In my experience, the management companies only switch it on the day you arrive and it then takes a day to warm up - a real bug-bear of mine. You arrive tired and emotional after a long day (and the thought of a dip in the pool seems like heaven) only to find that it's too cold.

It also depends on whether the previous user was using the heating.
If they did not use the heating and the typical check-out time is 10-30 or 11am....then, the cleaners move in,do their thing and switch the heat pump on.
If you arrive at 4pm its only going to be partially heated (unless of course the sun is scorching).

Thanks All

You've persuaded me, I'll contact the owner and pay the extra. I love swimming (I swim all year round) but dont like cold water.

Thanks again
Kay
