April packers unite!

March 31-April 4 for our "week day" vacation as we call it-
we normally go every Saturday or Sunday except busy season and the heat of summer- sometimes we stay and sometimes we go for the day.
anything over a 2 days stay I go nuts packing and really overpack and get all excited and make lists... obsessed I know..
but 2 things I never go without: those cheap 87 cent ponchos from walmart and sun screen
Just a note is is 78 out side today ( Monday March 17)- breezy but still going to get up to 80.
But by this Thursday it's going to rain and be cooler..

Oh, I'm so jealous of all of you going for 10 or more days! One week for us.

This will be our first April trip in a VERY long time! We usually go in August, and we won't pack any differently now. Always have packed a light sweater and long pants, anyway, because we get cool at night in the AC restuarants even outside watching parades, fireworks. This time, we'll just wear the warmer stuff going down and have even less to pack. Of course, ponchos, sunscreen, sunglasses, bathingsuits, underwear and good walking sandals. Digital camera, media and batteries. Cell phones and chargers. Ibuprofen, Alka-Seltzer, Benadryl (I'm allergic to pine, staying at WL, duh!), Dramamine and prescription medication.

Yet to do the summer clothes inventory in the attic. Everyone is going to need a few new items. Running out of "shopping days," it's starting to feel like Christmas instead of Easter!

We'll be there the first week of April and we are bringing ponchos in case it rains. We'll probably bring a pair of pants and a sweat shirt each, but likely won't use them. It's currently 33 degrees here in Michigan, so anything over 60 degrees will be shorts weather for us. :cool1:

Wow it seems like April is goint to be BUSSSY. Were going April 30th till may 11th. Are most people who our on sping bk going to be gone by then? In terms of packing I was wondering if spay sunblock gets bad. We went in september 2007 and I went a little crazy with the bottles of sunblock that you spray.I came back with 3 unopened bottles and bought one the other day at target. Are the one from last yr still good? I didn't want to open them until we got there but I hate to get there and them be bad. They do expire in 2009.

they should be fine, especially if you haven't opened them yet

We're going Apr 18-25. Everyone but me is packing shorts and T-Shirts. I'm packing jeans. I don't do shorts, wore jeans in July and didn't die :)

April 19-26th here! I just pulled out the suitcases yesterday and have started going through and taking inventory on what we have and what we need. We pack those cheap disposable ponchos, sweatshirts (it can be cool at rope drop and in the evenings) shorts, capris, and a few pairs of jeans, short sleeve shirts.

I've gone the MA school vacation week (April 19)in 2005 and 2007. Will be going back this year. Over the two previous trips it was shorts an t-shirts. Had one night of on/off rain and one cooler day when a sweatshirt and capris were needed. I'm packing shorts an t-shirts, a sweatshirt and windbreaker jacket for everyone and we'll wear our one long pant outfit on the plane. Will have a washer/dryer so can pack light. :laundy:

If you are planning on buying any Tee's or sweatshirts, this is a good chance to do so. Dont bring a sweatshirt or sweater and if you think u need one buy a souvenir for yourself.

If you dont want to buy anything, I would wear a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt on the plan or car ride down, this will save space in your suitcases.

But dont forget the swim suits and shorts

I started my "magical packing" yesterday!!! I said I would wait until next weekend, but couldn't resist..... We leave Mar 30 - April 5!!:cloud9:

First I made that wonderful "vacation trip" to Walmart to get the "essentials" and then just couldn't resist the need to start packing once I got home with my treasures!

I started with things that we won't be needing before the trip, beach towels, bathing suits, sunscreen, hats, etc.

Now, where did I put my summer clothes??

I'm taking windbreakers for us and one pair of long pants each in case we need them at night. Think I'll "forget" a hoodie or sweatshirt...so I can buy one!!! Yeah, the hubby will never catch on!!:rolleyes1

WOW -- of the 29 posts to this thread, 11 of us are going to be there during the week April 19-25 ... YIKES !!!

I am planning on wearing capris on the plane and the rest I'll take shorts. Maybe one long sleeve jersey and a light jacket or sweatshirt. The rest of the family will be taking 1 pair of jeans, and a light jacket.

I was thinking of leaving my sweatshirt at home though and if I need one, I can always buy one.

I bought disposable ponchos for the kids -- haven't been able to find any disposable ones for the adults yet though.

Count me in as a NYer going to Disney 4/18-4/28. Seems like it will be very busy but I am just glad we will be at Disney! :yay:

You can also get ponchos at your local $1 store.

I'm glad I saw this thread. I never thought of rain ponchos. I have to go buy some.

We leave on April 5 (home April 18). We are driving from Canada so we will start out in jeans and sweaters. I have put together new toys, books, snacks and movies for the car trip. I have already packed for DS (lots of shorts, t-shirts, pj's, swim trunks and a couple pairs of light pants). I am taking capri's for me (I don't do shorts either), t-shirts, nicer shirts (blouse), one swimsuit and a skirt. Dh will wear shorts, swim trunks and t's mostly. I will pack him a nice pair of light pants and some collared shirts.

DH also has to bring a suit. We are tacking 3 days in the Cayman Islands to the end of our trip. He is meeting some people about possible work down there.

I have bought about 90% of what we need and have packed about 50%. I am so excited. We will also do some shopping while we are there. I always like to hit the outlets and pick up some good deals.

Where did you find kid disposable ponchose?I've looked everywere.I get the adult size at our local dollar store.

Great tips everyone- my motto this trip is:
Carry less, enjoy more.
:thumbsup2

Add another one for April 19th - 25th. Since there will be so many of us there I'll be watching for LGMHs! I have a corner of the master closet started w/ stuff for our trip. My MIL decided to visit the week before we go (:confused3 ) so I'll have to have everything done before then. Oh well - it gives me a reason to pack early! ;)

Poncho's????? I'm soooo hoping that I'll not be needing one!! :rotfl:

We're coming from the UK, so it's shorts and t-shirts all the way for us :lmao: We're used to being freezing at this time of year, so anything other than this weather over here will be warm to us!

Hoping to keep things light for travelling though, then we can buy a few items whilst we're over there :) So far the suitcases have a few shorts and t-shirts in them, that's all. I can't pack yet, I don't feel 'ready' too!! :confused3

I packed yesterday...I wear jeans on the plane with my sneakers, a t-shirt and my hoodie.

I packed 5 pairs of capris (I no longer do shorts), t-shirts and tanktops, one gauzey long sleeve tunic top for Artist Point. One bathing suit and a cover-up. I also bring a poncho and a tiny umbrella, but I never seem to use them! Also a slew of flipflops, including my croc flipflops.

I have pared back alot over the years. I can get everything, including my pillow, into one suitcase. Now DH...he's the problem! He packs EVERYTHING he owns!
