APRIL or AUGUST??

Since I am a teacher, I only have a few options to book a cruise. Which do you think would be better, April or August?

I have not cruised yet (august 28, 2005), but I think the prices are better for August than in April. At least for the week we are going it is. When do you start back to school? We need to go when the kids are out of school also, and we got a good price for the last week in August (much cheaper than the earlier weeks in August) My kids don't start school until after Labor Day.

I wish I could plan on the last week of August. However, our school district has been so wishy washy the last few years. One year we start AFTER labor day, the next year we start the year BEFORE...It drives me crazy.

I know the feeling...in the history of our town, the schools have started the Wednesday after Labor Day (at least for the 30 years I've been here!). This coming fall, they will be starting the Friday after Labor Day instead. Now i'm getting paranoid that the following year they will change it to before Labor Day! We had too many problems after taking our oldest DD out of school for a Disney vacation last time, we were hoping to avoid problems by going the last week in August next year.

August is not my first choice, but since we need to go when school is out, and we were able to get a good price for the last week, we could not pass it up. If we could pay the price for an earlier week in August, we probably would have considered going during April vacation. (I think the prices were comperable for April vacation and summer vacation.) April won't be as hot/humid and it isn't during hurricane season either.

I'll just keep hoping for the best and hope your district will make up their minds about starting dates for you!!!
