April or August?

If you had a choice, would you go in April or August? We are planning a Disney trip for 2009. Our choices of times to go are in April over Easter break, or mid-August. I know the Easter break is one of the most crowded times to go, but April won't be as hot as August. I am one of those people who start complaining it's too hot once it's above 80 degrees. My first thought is to avoid August at all costs, but if the crowds are significantly thinner in mid-August, I'd consider it. Another factor of course is there are probably better deals on the rooms, etc in August than over Easter. What do you regular Disney-goers think?

Thanks :-)

Well, I'm a native South Floridian so the heat really doesn't get to me much but August's crowd levels are significantly thinner than April's (especially Easter Weekend). Yes, it is HOT during August. It is uncomfortable even for me and if you get a little fussy when the temperature is over 80 August might not be the best time for you, despite the heavier crowds in April. If you feel that going in August would make you grumpy and unhappy then don't go- Disney should make you happy!!! Keep in mind though that April's temperature are in the upper 70s and sometimes the 80s so you will most likely be dealing with hot weather no matter what month you choose (August is definitley hotter though). If you think you can stand the heat in August, go then as the temperture in April isn't all that different from August and April will have heavier crowds.
Hope this helps!
Good luck and happy trip planning! pixiedust:

We traveled for the past 20 years in April to Disney and even though it could be busy it is much better than the hot,hot of August. We did a few August times when the kids were little but it was not worth it. April gives you the flower show and good all around weather.:yay: :grouphug:

We've been to WDW both April and August and have stuck to August. We always experience less crowds in August. That means small waits for rides! Even Test Track was a walk through on one trip! Of course, Free Dining definitely brings more people..but that's also a reason to go in August.
Bad part is the HEAT! It's very hot in August!!

Thanks for the replies. There are 10 of us going. 7 adults and 3 small kids. We'll have to sound out everyone's opinion. My vote will be for April, but if we end up going in August, I'll use the go early in the morning, go back to the hotel, go back out in the evening strategy. I'm looking forward to it. I've been to Disney World as a childless adult, but this will be the first time for my 6 year old daughter :-)
