April No -buy Spring into savings!

Made my goal... tomorrow will be a no buy day. If I stopped counting groceries, I'd be much higher in no-buys, around 20 at least. That's all I bought today and yesterday--the toddler just can't tolerate more than one store a day.

Made my grocery challenge to be under $500 for our family of 4 :cool1: - Total for April is $453.21. That did not include soaps/paper towels, just food. But next month I am going to include all the extras because I want to compare my total to a few months ago. This month we went over on eating out so we'll try to do better about that in May. No buy only 4 days, my goal was 10.

I had crazy grocery spending a few months ago up to $650 so I can sympathize with you. But what I have been doing the last few months is making a budget of $500 for our family of 4. What is really helping me to stay within my budget is not buying a lot of extra items just because they are on sale. Instead of buying 10 cans of tuna, I'll only buy 4. Plus I stopped buying Lean pockets, that right there saves me about $30 to $40 a month.

QVCshopper, congrats on meeting your Nobuy challenge!!

Vacation hotel/ticket fund: $57
Vacation dining fund: $25

So far we can drive to central Illinois, stay overnight at Motel 6, and eat 1 meal at McDonalds. :rotfl:

Since I wasn't counting groceries or gas, I made it to 23 no-buy days for April! See what happens when you stay busy and away from the stores??? :lmao: That being said, my grocery spending was a bit over the top! I'm really going to have to get a handle on it for May! But so much of the spending was on produce and not meat, my freezer is actually UNDER stocked on meat and protein. But spring is here, the local chickens are laying well again, so at least I'll be able to buy my local free-range eggs regularly again!

Anyone start a May no-buy challenge yet?...................P
