So this month our goal is to considerably reduce our unnecessary spending on things that we just don't need. Also, cut back on eating at restaurants and fast food places. Have to be good this month. Won't be tracking groceries, household needs, bills, and gas. Next month is my daughter's communion and a road trip along the California coast to Frisco, Yosemite, and back. May will be an expensive month.

Good luck!

I'm in! I have a lot of events this coming month, so I'm going to lower my goal a little to 15 days for April.

I'll try too, I'll target 15 days with no unnecessary purchases.

Lots of miscellaneous for Easter, etc. so not off to a great start but here goes
April 1 - $0 (although I did buy some discounted Disney Giftcards, but I'm considering that savings for our trip since final payment is due in a few months)
April 4 - $0
April 6 - $0

Thanks for starting this! My goal is going to be only 10 days since we're traveling (but not to Disney) for 5 days this month to warmer weather and I think I'm going to need to shop a bit for it based on how much DS12 has grown since last summer.

I'm in! March was my first month with a goal of 10 days. I came in just shy of that number. This month I will aim for 12 as I will be out of town for business next week. So goal for April: 12 of 30 days.

I'm in! My goal is 25/30 days. I don't have much planned, so hopefully I'll have no problem reaching that roal.

We just bought a house and our first mortgage payment is May 1, so April No Buy is a perfect way to start. :) not off to a great start though....

April 1- spent $1.25 on soda at the car repair place. Spent $16.50 on a rental.
April 2- will spend about $2400 on car repairs. :(

My first goal will be 15 days of no buy. Off to a terrible start!
April 1 Lunch (which I didn't need since I brought lunch)

I'm in! In March I only had 12 no buys, so I am going to go slightly conservative and try for 15. In March I also tracked my unnecessary purchases-buying coffee instead making it, ordering lunch at work even though I brought something, ect....I made 16 purchases that I didn't really need! I am going to try to cut that in half and aim for no more than 8 unnecessary purchases as well.

4/1-No buy #1

I'm in! Though yesterday I spent $16 on two necklaces for my daughter.

SO. Starting today. I'm going to try for a week of no extra spending, and see what happens then :P

I'm in but will say I'm off to a bad start, since I will be doing my Easter basket shopping today AND my college student DD is coming home tonight for the weekend and is in need of some new jeans. But I've only been in a store ONCE since the start of the year that wasn't a thrift store, pharmacy, or a grocery store! And out of those, I stopped at CVS three times for "necessities" and the thrift store only three times and bought less than $10 worth overall!

Aiming for a solid 20 "no buy" days in April.... I don't count gas, groceries, pharmacy.... but I do count extras like clothing, sodas, coffee, restaurants, any non-necessity...... but more than "days" I am aiming to spend less than $50 this month on anything not essential or preplanned like Easter................P

Edited 4/28/15.

April 1 - $0 spent
April 2 - Picked up DD, ate dinner on campus and drove straight home. $0 spent.
April 3 - Errands with DD. Other than planned purchases (Easter basket supplies, few groceries) and necessities, spent $3.18 on iced coffees and apple slices at McD for afternoon snack.... oh well. ($46.82 left of the $50)
April 4 - Not leaving the house. DH will pick up milk and the produce I need for my contribution to Easter dinner. $0 spent
April 5 - Happy Easter. $2.18 spent on iced coffee for the long drive home. ($44.64 left of the $50)
April 6 - $0 spent
April 7 - Worked both jobs.... brought snack and drink for break in between. $0 spent
April 8 - $0 spent
April 9 - Packed a dinner for DS to eat between track practice and robotics meeting instead of DH stopping at Subway $0 spent
April 10 - $0 spent (went to a show with a friend, but tickets were purchased a while ago and she drove and paid for parking.)
April 11 - $0 spent (went grocery shopping, but I am not counting that as a spending day. I did NOT stop for a coffee or anything else on the way in or out of town, which is an accomplishment since the grocery store is a 30 minute ride each way!)
April 12 - $0 spent
April 13 - Picked up the car at the repair shop (don't even want to acknowledge how much that cost!) and stopped at Target to get compression shorts and running sox and allergy meds for DS (planned purchases, but still...) so not a no-buy, but not taking that from my $50 of "fun" money.
April 14 - Worked both jobs.... brought snack and drink for break in between. $0 spent
April 15 - No work today. Had to run an errand, but resisted the temptation to stop at the thrift store. Dinner is in the crockpot and no other errands planned so............ $0 spent.
April 16 - Straight home after work and packed dinner for DS to eat between track practice and robotics........ $0 spent
April 17 - No electricity so $3 for DS to buy a warm breakfast at school....but this comes out of my $50 since I count it as "restaurant" food. ($41.64/$50)
April 18 - Costco for groceries and lunch, so NOT a no-buy..... (about $8 for lunch so $33.64/$50).
April 19 - Stayed home and did yard work..........$0 spent
April 20 - Should have been a no-buy, but I found an online sale I couldn't resist!!
April 21 - Worked both jobs.... brought snack and drink for break in between. $0 spent
April 22 - Didn't get called to work. Stayed home and did yard/housework, scrapbooking...... $0 spent
April 23 - Straight home after work and packed dinner for DS to eat between track practice and robotics........ $0 spent
April 24 - $0 spent
April 25 - Off to DD's school after morning track meet. Spent $20 on a pizza for dinner. ($13.64/$50)
April 26 -Stayed overnight with DD and went out for brunch.... went over my $50 for the month. :(
April 27 - Home (school vacation week) $0 spent
April 28 - Home from school, but working evening job tonight. $0 spent
April 29 -
April 30 -

1-oil change for car, luckily no other repairs needed!
2-No Buy #1

1/15 Days So Far

This month could be tight due to all the events I have to attend, so I need to be dedicated.

Hi all

I am going to go conservative again this month as we are on vacation for almost 2 weeks at the beach and I do find we spend more on vacation. I will go for 12 days. I am going to track all discretion discretionary spending excluding gas. I Know many of you don't track groceries but that is a major spend trigger for me and I know I can save money in that area.

Good luck all of you

1 - spend, bought groceries for beach house and then bought an entire new ballet outfit for dd11 including shones. Not strict strictly necessary but we do not have a ballet shop near our town.
2 - spend, groceries to take to brother in laws house

0/12. Not a great start

My first goal will be 15 days of no buy. Off to a terrible start!
April 1 Lunch (which I didn't need since I brought lunch)
2 coworkers got me almond butter on their Costco Run
3 will be filling in easter basket holes today

I forgot to add that I don't count gas or groceries because those things have a separate column in my budget. All other spending counts though!

4/1-No buy #1
4/2-No buy #2 (I needed some toiletries at CVS, but I had a 30% off coupon, and extra bucks, so it ended up not costing me anything...so I bought, but didn't spend!)

I love that everyone has their own way of doing this and that no one is critical of anyone else's accounting!
I'm going to add that I want to buy NO non-consumable items (clothes for my boys do not count, because they really seem like consumables sometimes). There's way too much stuff in this house already.

April:
4/1: no buy#1
4/2: take out
4/3: haircuts, gas, warehouse club

1/10 no buy days
0/0 non-consumables

We had to go pick up the rest of our Easter groceries yesterday, BUT. I didn't pick up a ($1.29!) icee at Sams or a snack at Walmart, so I'm taking it as a no buy day.

And for day 3, staying strong! :)
