April (Easter) or Early June?

We're considering going either the week after Easter (early April) or June 4-10th. Which one would you choose with our main concern being weather? I researched that April was the lowest amount of rainfall and June was the highest amount of rainfall. Is there really that big of a difference with rain and having sunny weather in April and June?

Not sure on rain but it is my understanding that there are showers most days in the summer. But I think they are often brief. We always go the first week of April and in our five April trips we have only had significant rain two days. Temps are lovely in Early April. Usually the 70's or low 80's I would pick April for that reason. I think the heat can be really tough to manage while touring parks.

We went in May 2015 and it wasn't overly rainy, there was a little bit but super brief showers. I know Easter is super busy for the parks so I would check the crowd levels and decide based on that as well.

I have gone in Early June and it was terribly hot and humid all day every day, even in the early morning. To avoid the heat we tried to wait till evening, but every evening there were violent thunder storms. I vote for April for sure!

Thank you all for your answers! I guess June has a lot of pros for our group (for our wedding everyone can attend, lower points for DVC, flights are cheaper, less crowded (7 vs 9/10). To see if we should consider it... I'm looking for if someone can describe a typical early June day. Ensusieasm mentioned having storms every night and I'm wondering if that is a fluke or more common? Can anyone not from Florida say whether the humidity was really that bad? We're from the midwest.

June isn't the highest for the year, but it would be higher than April yes. There will be a thunderstorm/rain shower every day in June, but it's not normally that big of a deal. It storms furiously for about 30-45 minutes and then passes by. Personally, I'd take the first of June hands down over Easter week as crowds will be lower.

People always talk about how hot and horrible summer is at WDW.. meh. We're from Canada and didn't find it bad at all. I mean, yes, it's definitely hot!!! But also very manageable. That said, we're used to humidity where we are, so if you're from say Texas, it might be more difficult for you, but you can easily have a great time the first of June. Do rope drop in the mornings, take an afternoon break in the pool to cool off in the pool and go back for the evening. Use Frogg Togg cooling towels, and drink lots of water. There's so much air conditioning at WDW. The only place we did find that got to us was the world showcase in Epcot. It was a wide-open concrete heat sink, a lot of walking, not much shade.

If it's next April, I can tell you that New England (Massachusetts at least) has vacation the week after Easter since it is so late. And we New Englanders do like to head south for school vacation!

I'm worried since we'll be doing June this year as well. We'll see how it goes!

I'm a teacher so we could do Spring Break (early April for us) but I did it once and I'll never do it again. Way too busy. So we are doing first week of June this year. My coworker always goes the same first week of June (we get out of school right before Memorial Day) and she said wait times aren't bad at all. I'm using touring plans and only Saturday (bc I want us to start at MK) has semi long wait times. We are from GA so we are fairly used to the humidity but we still plan to take a midday break during the hotter part of the day. Summer hours at Disney tend to be longer so we'll do rope drop and then evening/night to help offset the midday break.

I've been in June, July and August and I am from WI. It is very hot and humid, but very manageable. In fact, one year we came home to the exact same weather. We sweat walking out of the hotel room, but touring is not bad. Early morning rope drop is the key and mid day breaks either at the hotel, by the pool or indoor shows. So much of WDW is indoors, I purposely plan those attractions in the hottest part of the day. I agree about Epcot WS, do it at night or not at all. There is no escape there.

Good info! I'm starting to think June wouldn't be that bad.. Is anyone there right now or in the last couple days? The weather shows all clouds and rain in Orlando for the last couple days and for next week. Is it actually cloudy all the time or only portions of the day? I know it's not predictable from year to year but it would be nice to to hear a live report from right now!

I had this same debate this year and ended up choosing June mostly because of the Easter crowd situation. We have been in June a few times (and also lived there for two years) and there was only one time that June was too hot and humid to even handle. Haven't been back during the summer since, but decided to try again this year. Afternoon rain happens quite frequently for short periods of time, but doesn't normally wash out the whole day.

You've had a lot of good advice!

I live in Florida and July and August are much worse heat and humidity-wisw than early June. I'd schedule air conditioned rides, table service meals, and/or s break to the resort by 12/1 and had back around 4/5 or so.

We went early June a couple of years ago and were there for a week and no joke is down poured everyday at 3:00pm! I mean we got slammed and soaked through to the skin wet with that ran...it was also extremely extremely hot! We are talking high 90s with heat index into the 100s! After that trip we will never take another trip to Disney in June ever ever again! We started vacationing there in March/April and couldn't be happier honestly...the weather in my opinion is beautiful! It can get hot but the humidity isn't there. But I am just 1 persons point of view lol...I am sure there are other people out there that love to go to Disney in June...just be prepared...even when we do go in April though I am still prepared and pack our ponchos and stuff so we have them if the weather calls for rain

I have been twice in early June. 18 years ago for my honeymoon, it was brutally humid, don't recall much rain though. About 12 years ago went with our children and it poured just about every day we were there. I remember saying something to a CM about the rain, and he rudely told me that it was June, I should have expected it.

Me personally, I would not want to pay $5k-7k for our family to go, knowing it was a high chance of rain. You never know, but I would rather spend the extra $1k or two knowing that I have a good shot at nice weather.

OH yes it could rain every day in June. I teach aqua aerobics during the summer and my 4 pm class was frequently canceled but my 6:30 class was usually fine. Which is another reason for an extended afternoon break.

For the rain: the showers are quick, typically 30 minutes, normally less than an hour. It's not like it rains all day every day, those days are actually fairly rare. Go duck inside a shop, grab a snack, go on a ride etc... Or, tough it out! It's June, it's a warm rain, you'll get wet, but you'll dry. Or, just pack a poncho. Wait times are much lower during the rain, because a lot of people leave. We had a late night storm go through when we were there (end of June). We sat on the front porch of Town Square and watched as people streamed out of the park by the thousands. Suckers :) Once they left, wait times for the rides were practically nothing, and we had absolutely PERFECT viewing spots for MSEP and Wishes!

But that said, we're outdoors people, we don't shy away from weather. We play outside sun, rain or snow.

When does the rain period start - beginning of June, or late May? We'll be there May 17-27, 2017, and I'm wondering if we'll miss the rains since it will technically still be late May?

We have gone the 1st week of June and even around the dates you mentioned 2 of the last 3 years. We are headed back 6/2 this year! Last year we went June 7th - June 11th. (2014 was Yellowstone instead and in 2013 it was June 2nd - June 8th) From what I remember all of years were beautiful and in the 80s. In 2013 it started a bit hot (91) but then dropped into the 80s and we even had an early Tropical Storm on Thursday, June 6th that brought clouds and rain for 1 day (The high was 79 this day!). That day in 2013 MK was EMPTY and it was FANTASTIC!! The temps cooled after that too and then it was "beautiful again." I am originally from FL, but have been in CO for 24 years, so I'm not "used to the humidity" anymore and I haven't had any issues during our trips. We prefer early June as we are done with school here in CO, so my son doesn't miss classes and traditionally east coast and FL schools are not done yet. We've never had issues with crowds but we are a "rope drop" family. We head back to the Wilderness Lodge in the early afternoon and play in the pool and head to Epcot for the evening :-) WeatherUnderground has a great database if you want to see trends! Hope that helps!
