We are Travelling to WDW in April, remember Easter is early this year in March. How busy will it be? Also, will we need shorts a t shirts or jeans and sweatshirts?

Hi and welcome to the DIS!:welcome:

Early to mid April is always pretty crowded. Even when Easter is in March there are plenty of schools on break during April, particularly in the Northeast. If you want to avoid crowds, go the last week of April.

As for the weather, plug your dates in here for some weather history:

We're going to in April. Hopefully the crowds will be a little lighter than during easter?? I think April has the best weather usually in the 80's and the humidity hasn't kicked in yet!

April is busy due to school vacations. We know people who went last April (not around easter) and the crowds were crazy. 1/2 hour wait for rides that we walk onto in September is way too much for me.

We went several years ago in April and the weather was just perfect. The lines....well, they were horrible. We still had the best time though, just couldn't beat the weather.

Actually the last week in April is still a school vacation week in the Northeast. I know because my kids are off that week. For lighter crowds I would choose the first two weeks of May. Colleges usually don't get out until mid-late May and most kids are still in school until at least mid-May (although there are those schools that go year round and just take breaks during the year).

If you don't mind my asking, when are your kids off? Do they have the last week through May 2?

We are in MA and our vacation is April 21-25. I think that is pretty standard for public schools in MA?? Not sure.

We are going to WDW on the 15th..then driving down to Vero Beach from the 18th to the 24th.

I anticipate crowds to be pretty bad at the parks. We were there in March one year and it was nuts.. Couldn't even push a stroller around MK.

I'm just looking forward to some nice weather. We plan on doing some non-commando type touring. Walking around Epcot for the Flower & Garden Festival...Downtown Disney for Cirque du Soleil. We got an ADR at Chef Mickeys a few weeks ago for 9:40AM ha That was all they had left.. very late leisurely breakfast I guess.

We might be pleasantly surprised by low crowds but I don't think so.

Pheww...that's what I thought. We're going the last week of April into May, as the last time we went it was April vacation and it was a madhouse. The weather was beautiful so the crowds didn't bother us all that much, but now we have kids so I'd prefer slightly less crowds.

I'm in NH and ours are on vacation from April 28-May 2. I'm pretty sure parts of Vermont and Maine also have that week off. When we've been there for our vacation week we seem to always meet up with families from both Vermont and Maine that are off that week too.

I am going April 5-11 hopeing the crowds aren't to bad. Our Spring Break around here is in May. The week after Easter.

how about EARLY april like april 1? I've been looking at weather reports and they are saying highs in the low 60's?? is that right?? that's the same weather as us up in PA?

Our experience has been that this is a good time to go. However, if you search for "unofficial crowd calendar" on the web you'll find a site that has statistical information on crowd levels throughout the year. There is debate on the parks DIS forum about how accurate their information is. I suppose their data is based on last year's data or something so it could vary from year-to-year on how accurate it is.

It's worth checking the Disney calendar to make sure there isn't a special event going on, too. One week we were there it was really slow except for one day when the parks were completely invaded by thousands and thousand of teenage cheerleaders. Had we known, we would have opted to go to Sea World that day.

Spring break here and for most districts around April 6-12th. There is no connection between spring break dates and Easter in our public schools.

We went last year during our break - worst I have ever experienced. I know lots of folks going down, so I expect it to be the same.

I was there one year from April 4th - 11th and the crowds were terrible. As I remember it several states were on Spring Break that week.

The reason I booked for the last week in April, (instead of may) was because East is in March this year.....i suspect more vacations will happen in late march or early april because of this.

The disney world website marks the first week in april as "great week" to vacation. So we chose March 31-april 8..according to the site, it isn't expected to pick up until the 2nd week in april
