Did you all see Judy's question about cruising with a child with a broken foot in a cast? That didn't sound too good.
I hope the kids are alright. No wonder she hasn't been on in a while, she's got her hands full.

I hope everyone else is staying well and healthy.

Good morning everyone,

Did I miss a posting? What happened to Judy's child?

Um, Congrats to your son.

Polly, I hope your son's feeling better and that his injuries won't affect him on the cruise.

One month today, we leave for Philly. One month tomorrow and we're on the plane to MCO :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

Hey everyone --thanks for your thoughtfulness. This is whats been going on in a nutshell

DH had neck injury ended up to be 2 or 3 ruptured discs so he has been driving me nuts with all his apparatus around the house and traction ....He has had to have daily treatment. He is having numbness an tingling in his one hand and he is a surgeon. He has been really bummed.....

School has been busy with all the field trips... Dane is hating school this year. He is the one with the teacher that is not teaching the curriculum and the kids in his class are very cliche-y. He often feels like the odd man out. There are 8 boys and 6 of them are regularly in the principals office. He is one of 2 good ones.

This weekend we were down at the newly installed playground and he jumped off the merry go round thing from about 6 feet in the air. He immed. began screaming. Today we went to doc and yes it is now in a fiberglass waterproof cast. Should be off by cruise.

We were gone a week for break to south Florida.

Okay--I guess thats it. I'll stop griping now. I feel so whiny today. Not like me usually just feeling like I have a large load.

We will be there--in some shape or form.

Can you believe that DCL still shows us going to Coz.????? What is up with that?

Judy

Hi Judy,

My prayers are with you and your family. We had a lousey Jan & Feb. DH just went back to work last Monday. Every week we had doctor(s) appointment(s) for two months. DD fell and hurt her knee. MIL ended up in the hospital during the only major snow storm NY had in Feb. Thankfully, everyone here is mending. Gripe all you want!!!!

Glad to hear that the cast will be off by the cruise. Hopefully, your DH will be feeling better by then. Sounds like you guys NEED a cruise. Yep, you definitely NEED a cruise. :cool1:

What's your son's teacher teaching if not what's mandidated by Florida Dept. of Ed? What does your school board have to say about that? I wish I could tell you that the school years get easier as they get older, but I haven't found that to be the case. Girls are worse than boys! We switched from Catholic school to public school 2 yrs ago. DD is in 6th grade now. It's tough. The kids are trying to act mature, but don't have a clue (well some do). The boys are discovering girls and that opens up a new can of worms. The girls seem willing to dump a true girlfriend for a boy. The boys think they can say whatever they want to the girls. URGH! :furious: Congrats on having one of the nice boys!!!!!!!!! It's hard for the good kids.

I'll jump of my school years' soapbox.

Here's some more pixie dust. :wizard:

Judy - Oh my! You have alot on your plate! I hope everyone is on the mend soon! Congrats to you DS for being one of the good kids!

I'm with you, I can't believe that DCL still has us going to Coz. I reallly don't think that is happening! I still would like to know for sure. We are thinking about the ruins tour with David and Ivan in Costa Maya. I don't know how far in advance that has to be booked so we may be out of luck.

OK you guys - NO more illness or injury!

Well either at Coz or in CM we will do a beach break---that is if we do not have a cast to contend with. Someone on my christmas cruise told me about a couple of beaches with all the facilities, lunch.... Can't make any true decisions until they inform us. I think it would be better if they suspended CZ shore excursions ressies. Now all these people are going to be disappointed. I REALLY feel sorry for all the double dip cruises. Glad we did not do that now.

In the midst of my absence---we booked the Christmas cruise. We went the first time they did the 10 day and we were planning on Hawaii using my frequent flyer miles. however using those is like hoping to win the lottery. IMPOSSIBLE--------we could not get any dates. So we switched gears and voila. Anyone want to join us?????

I have almost talked DH into looking into Med cruises for rebook and using those FF miles for our airfare. Guess we will have to wait and see if anything is left by that time.

Is Cozumel still in bad shape?

I just spoke with Disney. They said so far, they are still going. If they change, they will post it on their web site. So we should keep checking. I found on the intranet, a status report of cozume. I can't post a url, but if you google Cruise Planner, you'll find a site that lists the status. It sounds pretty good, actually.

I asked disney where they would send us if it was changed. She said it would either be Nassau or Costa Maya.

Sorry Lak--- heres the scoop. Disney won't tell us possibly until we board as they have done recently. Some cruisers were caught unaware and did not know what to do when they were dumped there. HOwever www.cruisecal.com lists our sailing as caling in Costa Maya and has for a VERY long time. Which means -----we are going to Costa Maya but DCL isn't letting us know. The problems seems to be that the days we would be in port at Cozumel there are many other ship also in port and there are not enough tenders to adequately service us. I guess the lines that slip them money and also bring in several ships per week get the good tenders. Therefore it has been DCL s decision to not go back until that issue is resolved or until the dock is rebuilt which they haven't made very much headway on. Therefore read up on CM because you bet your bottom dollar we are going there.

Guys did I cover everything.??????? Thats why I was saying--it is a fact we are going I just do not understand why they won't just let us go ahead and book CM excursions and unbook CZ.

I agree with Judy. It makes no sense to me though why they wouldn't just tell us. The only thing I can think of is that they want people to be more dependent on DCL excursions because no one will be prepared for another port or have time to book outside excursions. I can't imagine that they would be that sneaky though. Anyone else have any ideas?

Have a great evening!

Thanks for the heads up. To be safe, I reserved the Atlantis Submarine for Grand Cayman just in case we can't do the one at Cozumel.

Thanks Folks!

Lori, that would be awesome. We can keep our fingers crossed because everyone around here has been relying on their possibly false info. I admit, I would much prefer CZ. It will still mean we would be the first back. (for disney) AWWWWW who cares we will be on the Magic. Thanks for checking into it not just trusting their false info like we all did. :lovestruc

I posted here way back when, and then we almost had to cancel the trip as my mom became very ill. She's much better now and hurray - we are 100% go for the cruise.

Now I feel behind the 8 ball.

Does anyone have tips on shore excursions not to be missed. My girls are 3 and 5, so I realize my choices are limited for what they can do. But we dh and I will give each other a break to do something adult. My one think I must do is snorleking. Shoud I go through Disney or someone else?

Any advice would be great!
Now I need to catch up on who's coming!

Sharon

11 of us cruising on April 8!

Welcome back redterp! I'm glad you hear your mother is doing better!
Pixie dust to your family!

We are taking an independent tour in Grand Cayman for stingray city and the beach. I think your little ones may be too young for it though. We don't have anything scheduled for Cozumel because I'm still not sure that DCL is going there. It really depends on how comfortable you would feel about using an outside company. If you are late returning from a DCL excursion you will not miss the boat. If you are on an independent excursion you could. That being said, we are taking independent tours and have done so before but have also taken DCL excursions. It depends on your comfort level. If you want to find other's experiences you can search the boards and/or look on cruisecritic.

Good luck!

Has anyone used the Passporter? I was going to get one, but see it won't be available until first week of April.

I'm a first time cruiser.

Good morning everyone! One Month from today we will be on the MAGIC!!!!!

lak - Yes, I have used the Passporter book. It is filled with very useful information. I would recommend it for a first timer. You could probably get a year-old version from your local bookstore or maybe try the library?
