April 7, 2007 Western on the Magic?

Hi all ~ hope you all arrived home safely! It was so great to meet those of you that I did, so bummed that we didn't get to have our big meet on Sat.
Now i'm just sad to be back home...and back at work - but we ARE BUSY for sure...so guess that really helps....all i think about is 'we were doing this" a week ago today...etc....etc. Well DS has decided he wants to go one more time BEFORE he's 18 - he had SUCH a good time in the Stack...so since we booked already for Nov 1 2008....i'll have to look at that month and Dec. so hopefully can go week of Thanksgiving or during his Christmas break....

Lisa - i have the recipe for the Banana Pie Martini - but it's still packed in some luggage...

all i did yesterday was upload the 1000+ photos i took to my laptop - deleted the bad ones - ended up with 760 and started uploading to Shutterfly....that and got caught up with Grey's Anatomy, Survivor & Brothers & Sisters......

Hi Mona, hope Tom is feeling better. Do you think he got sick from the cruise? There were quite a few that were. I hate traffic like that. That is why I have my 3 hour rule:)

Hi Brenda, It took me forever to download all my pic to Shutterfly also. I think that I ended up with about 700 or so. I have a reservation on hold for the Freedom of the Seas 4/6-Eastern Carribbean and on the Liberty 4/5 for the Western Carribbean. I can't decide which 1 I want to do.

Thanks so much! I know how it is when you get back home . . . laundry, laundry and more laundry along with catching up on local news, national news, mail, tv programs and settling into the reality of what we all know as the real world.

Did everyone make it back home? That nor'easter is making it a mess for travel.

Well...here it is....but the one thing the gal at the Cove didn't write down was "how much" of each...yikes...it may be an "experimental" drink till you get the portions of each to where it's like the Cove's....
1. Vanilla Absolut Vodka
2. Banana Liquor
3. Ice Cream Mix (like the JUNKET) dried mix or any brand you have in your local grocery store.
Blend well~

Well - i think we really want to do the Eastern (just because we never have) although a few people have told me that they really prefer the Western itinerary....i'm ready to go again now....boy how i hate waiting for a year plus to go by....

He picked it up on the cruise because he wasn't feeling that great the last day. Its just one of those things that happen.

We still haven't unpacked. I downloaded our pics from the camera and took a quick look last night but that is as far as I got.

Well, now that we're back home everything is sorta blah. Sorry we didn't get to meet you guys. We didn't make it on board until almost 6:00 pm -- this after arriving at the port at 11:00 am. Ours was the first bus to the port and we still didn't make it on board in time for the meet or for dinner for that matter. But, we had a great time -- so much so that we are already planning another cruise next year with a friend of ours. The kids had the time of their lives and my DH and I had a great time too. Loved that Disney Magic!:cool1:

Sounds like everyone is feeling the same. Blah, says it well. Came home to 11 inches of snow Monday and the kids had a snow day. In April? They were so anxious to show of their island braids and suntans, but I'm sure they are doing that today. We loved our first Disney cruise and we will go again, but we didn't rebook on the cruise. I think the girls would enjoy it more as they get a little older. Amanda would be old enough for the Stack in a couple years and Carly would have more fun with age 8 - 10 kids. She didn't like the age 5-7 kids club very much. At 7 and in 2nd grade she thought the activities were "babyish." Therefore, adult time was very limited this time.

We all really loved the shows, and you were all right about Palo. It was fabulous. We're talking about another WDW visit next April. We haven't been to MGM or AK in a few years whch means Carly really doesn't remember being there. The girls started the pin collecting while on the cruise so a Disney vacation of some sort is their first request.

Oh, BTW, we were hit by the stomach virus as well. We were so diligent about hand washing and disinfecting, but it got one of us anyway. Luckily, just Friday night and Saturday when the vacation was ending anyway. Carly (7) had a fever and threw up on the plane on the way home. That was not too pleasant, but she's fine now.

My son got the stomach virus on Friday morning about 8 am and they INSISTED I take him to their doctor and he was quarantined until the end of the cruise! He was better in a matter of three hours. My husband and I never did get sick. I was so upset that we spent our last cruise day in the cabin. AND Disney has yet to admit there was anything going around on the ship.

That stinks on the Castaway Cay day too. It was getting pretty hard to hide the issue. This all started when a child threw up behind Carly during "Meet the Robinsons." We moved, but these viruses can be airborne. Then, Carly threw up next to the Atrium, near guest services, on the way to dinner Friday night, so unfortunately plenty of people were there to see it. Many were in line taking care of tipping vouchers and on their way to the restaurants. It was a huge mess, and I was mortified. I voluntarily quarantined her for the night and she said she was fine Saturday morning. Then, puked on the plane.

All that being said, I think Disney was doing everything they could to keep it from spreading. I know they cancelled the galley tour on Thursday, and the self serve stations were no longer self serve.

'excuse me :teeth: pardon the interruption

just wondered if I could ask how were the seas for your cruise??

the seas were great most days/nights...there was one night that was a little rough - not so bad to make you sick or tip the glasses - but you could feel the waves some....

No stomach sickness for us, luckily. Leah did start feeling bad Friday evening, though, and started running a fever. We ended up at the doctor Sunday, and it was tonsillitis, the same thing she has been getting all year. So glad it didn't happen until the end, though! They're talking about a tonsillectomy now.

I guess we were the only lucky ones to get on the ship early Saturday??? We were on the first bus from Hyatt MCO to the port, and had boarding card number 3.

All in all, everything went smoothly for us. We will probably cruise again in another couple of years. I also think Leah will enjoy it more in an older age group. I would definitely enjoy a double dip cruise. Castaway Cay was wonderful! I didn't care for Cozumel or Grand Cayman at all.

I have a Palo question to put out there. I had a dessert that was soo delicious, I'd like to try to make it. It was not the chocolate souffle. I've seen that recipe posted, and I'm going to make it for my husband and daugher. They are the chocoholics here. It was a creamy vanilla dessert, similar to a creme brulette, but with a smooth cheese (like marzipone) flavor. I can't remember what it was called, because I had never heard of it. Did anyone else try it?

Courtney: Sorry to hear about Leah's tonsils. Sounds like it's been a tough year for her, so maybe getting them removed will end the illnesses. I think Leah was in the same category as Carly in the kids club. The age 5-7 activities were geared more to the 5 year olds. I wish the two of them would have warmed up to each other more. It might have helped.

You were VERY lucky to board early! We were all standing in the parking lot wishing we had gotten there earlier. We were at the terminal by 11:20 and had boarding number 10, so we missed by a mile.

We liked Grand Cayman and Cozumel, but I was saddened by the changes in Key West since I had been there as a teenager. So many of the homes in the historic area are in poor condition, boarded up or falling down. Seems like it's mostly a bar town now. Did you go anywhere in Grand Cayman and Cozumel? We missed the seven mile beach because we went snorkeling, but I heard it was beautiful. We went to Paradise Beach in Cozumel and the kids had a ball. They had lots of beach toys, water trampoline, kayaks, etc. and it was only $8.00 each to use everything. The mexican food was great too!
What's a double dip cruise?

was it served in a little glass? or on a plate with berries?

Brenda - It was on a plate with berries. Sounds like you know exactly the one I'm talking about!

Well it was a far cry from the original 66 - but here's the photo that i got on my camera - Paula - you're hidden...if anyone has a photo that shows all of us....would love to have it~
