I just love the Hawaiian shirt idea, we would absolutley order them. Every Friday during the summer my DH's office has "Hawaiian shirt day", how great to be able to wear one from this awesome cruise!

question? How many formal nights do you think we'll have? We did an 11 night Med cruise last year I think there was 2. What do you think...3?

I am not sold on the shirt thing yet. I want to see what the actual shirt will look like. I am not a big fan if ordering clothes on the Internet for this reason, but I am interested. I think we will have 2 formal and 1 semi formal just like all the other 14 or 15 night DCL cruises I have been on.

OY VEY!! Who know that my post about my and Jason's gay marriage would cause less controversy than DIS vs. FB?!?!? :rotfl2::rotfl2: (I'm just kidding, of course----I don't think there's any controversy)
I don't think that marriage between two people should EVER be a controversy....

What a great idea!! I think we can work together and you can make a magnet. What I envisioned was a daily DIS navigator with all the events you can either print out or put on a smartphone, computer or iPad type device.
I love the idea of an electronic navigator....pdf format? For those of us that are using Windows based phones please....I like the magnet idea as well.

I am not sure what all this discussion is about. FE gifts are given out by people who desire to do so. If one chooses to only give to cabins with kids, or only to 24 or 48 because that is what they have made/bought, that's OK. Having a FE hung on the fish and finding trickets when you return to your cabin is fun. A pencil, a piece of candy, a small magnet, it is just fun to find. It is fun to go from deck to deck, cabin to cabin putting out FE gifts and seeing all the different FEs everyone has. The old saying tis better to give than recieve applies here. Don't get so up tight about FE gifts. Lets all have an enjoyable cruise. Alex
Well said Alex...I agree!

I just had an idea that I want to run by you all. Instead of a group tee shirt, how do you all feel about a group hawaiian shirt?
Yep - I am in...assuming Michael wants one, put me in for three adult and 2 bear sized please!

Well I got a bit of great news today. As some of you may already know, we have been planning this vacation all along but I haven't actually gotten approval from my boss to do it because after I've done so many long vacations recently (September 2010 Med/WBTA, May 2011 Repo/Alaska, etc.) my boss basically told me he didn't want me taking anymore vacations that were longer than 10 work days (2 weeks)....and, of course, because DCL decided to start the Hawaii cruise on a SUNDAY, rather than a Saturday...it ends on a Monday...which means it will require ELEVEN work days (ugh!!). So Jason and I have been scared to tell my boss in case he said no....we even have been preparing contingency plans that included seeing if DCL would let us disembark in Ensenada and then find our way home a day early from either Tijuana or San Diego if we had to!!

Well, I talked about it with my boss today and he said I can have the eleven days. WOO HOO!!!:woohoo: (I'm sure it didn't hurt that I mentioned that this would formally be our honeymoon probably....but still...it's a big load off not to have to worry about that!!)
WOO HOO!!!!! glad to hear it!!!

Love the idea! I think we'd each get one and maybe a couple teddy bear sized ones as well.
Me too!!!

Here is the response I received back from Becky. I'll work on getting JPEG designs to her this morning. As soon as I get her sample I'll but it through the wash a couple of times and let you know how it looks.

"Hi Valerie:
Great hearing back from you. I sent your shirt sample out yesterday so I am hopeful you will have it by the weekend.

Hawaiian shirts are a much better option than the traditional shirt….and I am sure everyone will be pleased with them. Our shirts are unisex and we can cut kids' sizes as well….prices will be the same….

I will have my artist take a look at the files and come up with a few designs with your logo weaved into the shirt….do you have those files in a .jpg format by any chance?

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks,
Becky"
they are going to do Disney material???? AWESOME!!!! I wonder about licensing tho...just a thought....

I definitely can't wait to see the shirts! I haven't told my husband that we're ordering them yet. :-p He's a Hawaiian shirt guy anyway, so I know he'll love one!

Thanks

I wasn't sure if I should respond and risk bursting the bubble.... They are in Illinois.

I can ask if they are in Teddy bear size or if perhaps they will sell us fabric by the yard. But let's wait and see what they come up with. I am trying not to be toooooooooo excited until I see what they offer us in the way of design. Before calling them I did look at their website to see samples of what they have done for others and they looked pretty good.

Here is what I looked at:

this is the art work, you can't read the verbage on their logo nor really see the company logo but it gives you an idea.

The picture below is the group photo of the people wearing the made shirt. I'll try to take better pictures, with more detail in close up, when I get the sample they are sending.

So are the shirts (design/wording) going to reflect the "Disney Hawaiian Inaugural Cruise"?

thanks

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone who gave advice about my daughters missing school for the cruise. I really apreciate your help. Now I can move on to more fun things like checking out the ports that we'll stop at, or planning what to wear!

No, not too late at all. I keep this open until a month or so before you sail. You can add yourself to the Scavenger Hunt tab on the roll call spreadsheet.

I noticed that there are still some mistakes on the roll call sheet.Hopefully everyone can check it and correct their information.

I'm really looking forward to see how they can incorporate our design in one of their shirt....I have feeling they will look fantastic.

I like it but would love a brighter color as I wear navy every day at work.

So - here are pictures of the sample shirt we were sent.

Shirt, front traditional 4-button front, no pocket, plus collar button. Pockets are an option. Tail and sleeve lengths are full. Bob is 6'4 and wears an Xl or 2XL. He has a JC Penny tee-shirt under the shirt and the sleeves of the tee do not show at the bottom of the shirt sleeves

The full repeating pattern is visible stretching most of the way across the back fabric panel, and appearing twice between tail and collar. From the back you can see it is plenty long and wide.

shirt detail Shows most of the repeat, with six custom logos (large and small, plus "flops" of blue octopus). They incorporated 5 different images this group gave them, The flowers and leaves, water and palm trees the artist provided, everything else is the MALS-II group logos.

Shirt, custom label In the collar, a custom label for the group/business that orders the shirts. Note this is the reverse of the fabric just below the collar. Becky had told me the fabric pattern was weaved not printed and you can see this on the reverse of the material.

This shirt is 100% polyester, we can have ours made like this, that slinky material or a cotton blend. We could also get them in silk, like the Tommy Bahama shirts, but they cost $10 more.

I am suppose to get the first art proofs the first of this week. I haven't asked for any specific colors but I would think we could recommend or state what we want. As with pocket or no pocket.

It looks and sounds great. I vote without a pocket. IMHO, the slinky material seems to shrink a lot and wrinkles bad. So will 100% cotton. I think something with polyester will shrink and wrinkle less.

....
Oh boy! Another Bear nut! I need two Bear sized, too!

Gosh, that shirt looks like it was made for him! Lovely!

Oh goodness, we're going to need a poll on fabric, pocket and color for this one!

I'll be in the cotton/blend, with pocket, any background color except yellow camp! :lmao:

Did they give you pricing for a 'run' of less than 150 shirts?

.

I like what I see so far but I am very interested in the logo that is picked and how it looks before I commit to a XXL

I like it...even in yellow! It's very tropical, like pineapple! :rotfl2: We'd be in for 3 Large or XL (with a pocket or 2 even!), so long as you do NOT put a whole lot of pink  on it...my guys won't go for that I'm afraid :scared1: And I like the idea of the no-iron, easy care poly blend...OR silk! Can wear it for PJ's after the cruise! :yay:
Thanks for all your hard work in getting this arranged. :cool1:

I love the shirt! Cotton/poly blend vote here also and pocket or not does not matter to us. We are in!!

I am of the no pocket type but prefer the Tommy Bahama type silk shirts. Can we get a poll going once we get some choices of fabric as to what people prefer? We don't wash our shirts but I am sure many people do.

Wow that's a neat idea for shirts. I love them. We definitely want some custom shirts that just makes the trip so much more fun! :goodvibes

I know I prefer no pocket but a pocket is alright for me. If it ends up a silk shirt I am defiantly out as I do not like silk at all for anything except ties.
