April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

It is all very odd isn't it? I just checked our reservation. On our DCL reservation page it says final payment by January 15th so we can make our reservations from that date, but on our Dreams reservation it says they want final payment by December 30th. We are Gold CC members. Usually Dreams want the payment the day before DCL do as you said Corinna, which would be the 14th Jan. :confused3

We had to PIF for our upcoming September TA cruise 4 months out in May and I thought that was the most recent rule, so was expecting that which actually would be at the end of December as Dreams has it.

The mystery continues.

This is strange as we are also booked through DU and are also Gold Castaway Club members.

Yes there is a Crown Plaza in San Pedro and they do offer a free shuttle to the port, we stayed there pre Alaska Cruise and it is a nice property.

Just finished making our flight reservations, into LAX and out of SNA after a DL post cruise stay.

Thanks for confirming this.

Corinna

Checked my reservation and my balance is due December 31 and that is also the day I can begin my online check-in and I can book my excursions....is my date different because we are platinum????

I would urge you to pickup one or more of the many touring books about the islands, if you don't want to buy them, I know the AAA tour book and your local library will have info. Of course the web is always a great source too.

I say this because the answer to your question will differ dependent on your personal interests. If you are interested in scuba or diving, beaches, hiking, biking, visiting historical sites, nightlife, or nature viewing, there are unique experiences in Hawaii for each of these topics and many more. As we will only be on each island a short time, obviously you will need to be very selective.

You might want to state your specific interests and those of us who have been to the islands could make suggestions. You might want to tell us the ages, and physical limitations of those in your party too.

Thanks, I realize that everyone's opinion will be different but what I am looking for are the Must See's in each port, such as Pearl Harbour in O'ahu.

I have bought 3 books on Hawaii - Hawaii by Cruise Ship, The Unofficial Guide to Hawaii and Frommer's Hawaii guide.

I will be travelling with a senior (but she is quite active)...when we visit a new town we try to book a city tour or a "best of" tour. I looked on Princess' site at the types of excursions they have (just to get an idea) and they have quite a few city tour and highlight tours.

I just want to be prepared for what we want to see when it comes time to book our excursions because when we did the DCL Alaskan cruise, DCL didn't give us much notice as to the excursions.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Honestly, I don't care when the PIF date is. All I care about is my 120 day window. That is my PIF date if the DCL is later then I don't care. Of course if it is earlier then I care.

I did the same thing. I just looked on the Princess site. It gave me an idea. Now I will just wait and see what DCL offeres.

I booked through Small World Vacations, and they have me with a pay off date of 12/31. Crazy how they are all different.:confused3

Is anyone having a problem with the roll call spreadsheet? I went there to check on something, and the data was no longer together appropriately. The DisNames seem to be on the wrong rows. Although it would be cool to be from Australia, I've never been. ;) the row with my information just had the heading blue bar instead of the DisName. :confused3

Yep, it's off.:surfweb: Has me being named Mandy, married to Mark and from Reading, UK. These are very nice folks and I would not mind being them, but I'm not.:rolleyes1

Yes, it's all screwed up. The DIS names are all moved around now. It shows my DIS name as #119 even though I know for a fact that we were much higher in the list than that when it got started.....but our actual information (names, room #, etc.) appears up in line #21.....so according the current roster list, I am "NotSoLittleMermaid" and Richard, Nancy, Jordan & Abby from Vancouver, WA are me!!

:surfweb: I don't remember where I left off. Been busy with my DD. My last child just got her diploma ! :woohoo:

Looks like you guys have been chatty.;)

Catching up on posting - I get a daily email digest that I find keeps me current on the posts - much easier than scrolling through them on here. ;)

Re: WoC - totally agree with the others...no seating unless you're in the handicap area where they have benches, but the package is worth it. We also have tried the picnic...during a less busy time it's OK, you get to choose from several 'cold' meals that you can pickup when you want them and get a 'pass' for the 2nd best space behind the package area...if you get in there early you can find some space in a good line of sight, but you'll be sacrificing some time in the park since it was about 45 mins before the show started. Hoping to see it from our room at VGC once - just to see what that vantage point is like.:goodvibes

We own at VGC so we used our 11 month window to book our room for 2 nights before the cruise. :thumbsup2 We'll just go home the day we return from the cruise.

We're in the 'last weekend before vacation' mode right now - trying to get stuff done before we leave for Barcelona next weekend. Really need some time off work and spending it on the Magic is no better way...plus this one will make us platinum before the Christmas and Hawaii cruises.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!! :wizard:

What is the email digest ? :confused3 i usually write down the last page I read.

We are going to DL in September/ October, but are planning to spend 2 or 3 days there after the cruise as well.

So far the only thing that I have heard is that they will enclose what is now outside seating behind Beach Blanket Buffet. We will be on the third cruise after dry dock and I can report back then what has been done.

Corinna

Thanks ! I really want to hear all the good stuff they do.

**Cricut Cartridge Alert**

Just wanted to let my fellow Cricut users know that there is a new limited edition summer cartridge called "Luau" that would be perfect for scrapbooking your pictures from our Hawaii cruise...I picked mine up at JoAnn's for $29.99.

Here is a link to the cartridge and the images you can make from it.

OMG ! Did I tell you OMG ? This is my new toy and I love it !!! I will be ordering this right after I get off the Dis. :woohoo:

Currently we have reservations at Candy Cane Inn and the Double Tree by the port. The Queen Mary interests me. If we stay at CCI it will require to shuttle rides one to get there and one to the pier which will pay for a diner. Still up in the air where to stay.

I did like the Double Tree when I stayed there. I need to start working on where to stay soon.

Hi Lynn, we'll be at the Doubletree at the port for one night before the cruise. Want to meet for drinks? Anyone else staying there the night before? We can have our own mini-meet.

I am leaning towards it. Last time I stayed we had dinner with all the diser's and it was a nice way to start the cruise.:)

We stayed last cruise at the Queen Mary. Free shuttle to tourist area .. 5 mins away. Booked this time also for 2 nights. Will allow us one whole day to buzz about. Check out the hotel web site. I am sure you would find plenty to do. The hotel is an adventure.

I also am having trouble with the roll call list. It is not lined up right.

My data on the roll call is out of alignment but I don't want to try and correct it. Not sure what happened with the roll call for our cruise but I know I have a google spreadsheet roll call for another cruise that I am managing. The concern I have had with that spreadsheet is that if anyone deletes or changes the format by mistake, the whole thing can be lost or corrupted. I have been making a backup everynight just in case that happens.

On the WBTA 2010 and the PC cruises one brave soul took on the task of keeping the rollcall and events log up to dated themselves instead of letting everyone update on there own. That was a huge job I am sure.

Checked my reservation and my balance is due December 31 and that is also the day I can begin my online check-in and I can book my excursions....is my date different because we are platinum????

It says in my reservation that my PIF date is the same as yours 12/31/11 and I can start booking excursions on 01/30/12 and we are only silver...so I don't know why people are having different dates.

Yep, it's off.:surfweb: Has me being named Mandy, married to Mark and from Reading, UK. These are very nice folks and I would not mind being them, but I'm not.:rolleyes1

Seems someone was playing with sorting...thats why all is messy.

Just finished making my plane reservations. We were able to get a non stop flight to LAX but we have to come back through Houston. We got a flight out of LAX at 12:30 PM. Will that give us enough time to get off the ship and to the airport? I checked the DCL site and it said not to make a reservation before 1:00 PM. Hopefully, the half hour will not be a problem.

I'm game, I'll start working on my accent. ;) Let's all roll in the soot! Let's all be Labradors! :lmao:

Seems someone was playing with sorting...thats why all is messy.
That's what it looks like to me also, although I think they just sorted the single column instead of the whole spreadsheet so now our DisNames are off. Maybe we could each just fix our own DisName that would help.

It shouldn't be. We should all have the SAME PIF date (with variances for TA requirements) and then the Gold and Silvers have the OPTION of paying earlier for their early booking dates.

Actually, I was expecting that this special itinerary would have a 120 day PIF date, but we are getting the 75 day date (2/14) on many of our reservations. :confused3 I'll be paying at 120 anyway for my Platinum perks, though with all those sea days I don't think there will be the usual Palo problems.

Actually being Cheri (NotSoLittleMermaid) wouldn't be a bad thing. She's retired and it seems is always at DLR or on a cruise! :lmao:

What airline???? Jet Blue is only out to Jan 3!! I have flights to book to Calif and Fla...they better get on the ball! Don't they know my OCD is killing me about this?!?!?!

Wow, too much free time with retirement, eh?

I won't be booking my room until I actually know what I am doing....that could be awhile. Hopefully, Jamie won't back out on this one.

Of course, I am PIF, used DVC points, so I'll be booking my stuff on the ship the first available Platinum date!
Of course you are PIF...Michael and I are still working out cabins. We have his and mine, unless folks are joining us, we are dropping mine (his is better this time)...I hope Jamie can make it as well, but that was an opportunity she just couldn't pass up! She was missed tho!

I am managing the FE lists for three NYC cruises, my worry was that someone would try a sort or edit something and corrupt the file. I am doing all the editing myself (it really isn't too bad - as long as folks PM me I change the offline version then update the online version bi-weekly right now). I am glad I did it the way I did...I hope the originator has the document backed up somewhere. What a pain to have to reenter all that data!

BTW - if anyone here is on any of these cruises - PM me if you want to be on those FE lists: May 25: NYC to Nassau (8 day); June 10: NYC to Nassau (5 day); June 15: NYC to nowhere (2 day). All three cruises are on the Magic.
