Loving the Alaska pictures. I honestly think that was one of my favorite cruises......and shhhhh, it wasn't DCL.:rolleyes1
I'll second that, Alaska ROCKS! I have a serious itch to share some of my pictures, but then I feel like I shouldn't because we weren't on DCL and it's not really relevant to Hawaii.

I know, I know......

I see you did HAL. So did we. We were on the Statendam Southbound from Fairbanks to Vancouver. I loved Denali the most. Glacier Bay second. College Fjord was beautiful as well.

I'd love to see them; anyone who doesn't can just "page down" and pass your post.. :goodvibes I'll be waiting :surfweb:

Okay, I'm diving in and sharing pic's!

Juneau - Orca's

Juneau - Humpback fluke. I'm really excited by this pic, we checked the Juneau catalog and this whale didn't exist, so I contacted the organization and after verifying it is indeed not in the catalog they will add it and give me credit for the pic/find. :woohoo:

Mendenhall Glacier - that's my DS and DD, can you tell they did NOT want their picture taken. :rotfl2:

Leaving Juneau - one of my favorite pics

Sitka - Bear!!!

Sitka - Raptor Center (I love their slogan with this big picture and "I am smiling"!)

Sitka - St. Michaels

Sitka - Anchored ship

Ketchikan - Sign

DSC02456.jpg

Ketchikan - Infamous mooning eagle, yes I do have a picture of the other side (couldn't resist), but I thought I would post this side. Family thread and all. :lmao:

DSC02457.jpg

Victoria - with the beautiful Fairmont Empress hotel. BTW - if you go, make sure you hit Barb's at Fisherman's Wharf for the best Fish & Fries ever. Our only complaint was that it wasn't Fish & Chips as it should have been for such an English influenced city.

Thanks everyone for allowing me to go off topic and share some pictures.

Thank you for sharing wonderful pictures from your Alaskan cruise....I so want to go........

Your pictures are awesome especially the whale...I have a few dozen of half the tail as it went back in the water :) Which cruise line and what time of year were these taken?

Those are great pictures. I couldn't get any good ones of the humpbacks or the orcas (which were closer); mainly got a lot of water in the shot. That fluke with the white/black contrast was beautiful.

And you couldn't tell you weren't on a DCL cruise, other than being in Sitka. :goodvibes

...Well, this wahine has made the decision to skip this cruise. I would so much rather have more than 4 days in the islands if I am to be gone from home for 2 weeks. I hope everyone has a great cruise.

Aloha, Lynne

And because Lynne is skipping this cruise, I will be skipping it, too. I never actually got my name on any list except for the lanyard list. This means I won't be participating in it, either. I'll PM Erik & Jason about this, too.

Although I will miss seeing many of my friends who are on the cruise, not going means I will be doing something with my DH instead. He wasn't going to be able to go, and this way we'll have some time together. Perhaps I'll see some of you on future cruises.

Aloha,
Shirley

What a shame that you are both pulling out  I was so looking forward to meeting you again.

Those photos are LOVELY!

Lynne & Shirley, So sorry you are pulling out - I was looking forward to meeting Lynne, and both Dimples & I were looking forward to seeing you again, Shirley!

Before I booked the cruise I did the math to do a land based vacation to Aulani and even with staying DVC you have to add food, rental car, airfare, extras and we broke even. But with Disney I can fly SW and no fees for bags. I wish we were having a over night or Kona but it is what it is and will be great. So can't wait. Just watched Brady Bunch Hawaii!

Count me in on those who are sad to see you two go. When it comes to the time we will be at the islands, I have no problem. Honestly I am not a big island person. Having never been to Hawai'i this will give me a taste of what it is like without having to pack up every couple of days and getting on a plane. Also I love the sea time. Plenty of time to enjoy the ship with my friends who are coming.

Thank you for sharing wonderful pictures auntlynne. I really love the one where Wonder is at the end of the street. Alaskan cruise is one i would like to do in the future, but with two small kids I'm kind of worried they would be bored to death without warm weather and swimming......

I was worried about this too, but we were swimming EVERY DAY. :thumbsup2 The pools felt like bath water.

Thanks, our photography guide had us put our camera on burst mode, but truthfully that just messed me up and I couldn't get any decent shots, so I turned it off. We sailed Holland America sailing out of Seattle on May 28th - June 4th, we just got back.

Thanks, I was amazed I got that picture, I got a couple of other good shots, but a lot of mine are just water. I'm so sorry you and Shirley won't be joining us! :sad1:

Totally gorgeous pics! I still have Alaska on my bucket list but not for a while yet.

I've been to Hawaii a few times now and while I love it, the main attraction is a long cruise out of LA - we prefer the 14/15 day cruises and love DCL, but more importantly, enjoy the onboard activities with Disfriends - old and new.
