What I should have said is I have no interest in the one at the Polynesian center because I have read they do not serve drinks with caffenie. Well I need my Iced Tea. Second because I am spending a lot on this trip and paid for my meals. I really don't want to pay twice for my meals.

I can appreciate not wanting to pay for an additional meal if it were not part of a tour but you might just want to visit the Polynesian Center if you get a chance. I think if you don't want to eat there, I am not sure it is a requirement. You might check the website.

The Polynesian center does not serve any caffeinated drinks as they are associated with the LDS Church.

If it were just tea and that were me, I would just bring my tea along from the ship. I drink decaffeinated tea of a particular flavor which I always bring with me when I travel as I often am unable to find it on the ship or elsewhere. If I want it ice cold than I just ask for hot water and a glass of ice. I then make the tea and add it to the glass of ice.

Just my thoughts...

It's not only a luau, but just more time to enjoy the islands, especially the big island that takes longer to explore and enjoy. We shall see, it is over a year from now, so the "itinerary can change with out notice" clause can come into affect.:cool1::worship:

On the one trip I took on NCL, we stayed overnight in Maui which did allow for lots of exploring.

Noel, hi!! You should be able to help us all decide what is best to see in our limited time on each island.:thumbsup2

I just let our reservation go. With our son graduating next year, and other trips planned, it just wasn't in the cards this time. :sad1:

Marilyn, I will be happy to help anyone based on their particular interests. I know on the Oahu, a must see is the Arizona Memorial. I also enjoyed seeing the USS Missouri and the Bowfin.

Any questions about any of the Islands, please ask away as I have gone many, many times since the 1960's. In addition, my DD Samantha is living in Waikiki right now.

Last time I was in Hawaii, I visited the Polynesian Center and went to their luau which was quite tasty.

We have enjoyed the food and drink at many Luaus but mostly we go for the show. The music and dance can be wonderful. Many of the clubs have live music and some of the hotels have music around the pool.

Last time we were on a cruise in Hawaii we rented a car on each island. It is very reasonable and driving it easy. To get to the Polynesian Culture Center is a all the way from the ship pier, on the northside of the island, mostly all freeway driving but still a long drive. I would take a tour bus if that is were you wanted to go. The PCC is a great place to see and experience the cultures that contributed to the Hawiian culture.

All beaches are open to the public in Hawaii and there will be public access somewhere close for each stretch of beach. The Hawaiian people are so welcoming and kind that you can ask anyone for directions and your only worrry is they will keep you talking longer then you have time to spend. Hawaii is VERY different from the Caribbean and so are the people, not necessarily better, just different. They truly do live on Hawaiian time. They do not believe in stressing the small stuff and everything is the small stuff. For example, after the third time having our bags not there when we got off an inter-island flight, we learned to always carry on our swimsuit and expect our luggage would be brought to our hotel in a couple of hours. Sometimes we would go to the other airline luggage area and find it. We have seen our luggage being taken off a plane and replaced with maui onions. It will always show up so don't bother letting it ruin your day.

I am really sympathetic as DH just can not take more time after the MV of the Fantasy to do this trip,

Noel! That's just reminded me to bring you some lemon and Ginger tea from home if you cruise with us again! :thumbsup2
Mark really wants to do the Arizona memorial at least, I know, so will have many questions ... Thank you!

Thank you Mandy!! Please feel free to ask any questions. If I don't have an answer or Samantha can help with questions, please let me know.

Thank you. I think I need to begin readin up about the islands as I really have no idea apart from watching the odd film!!! I never thought I would ever go.

Oh that is the other thing. We are there on a Sunday so it will be closed.

With so many other things to do on Oahu, I am sure I would not make a luau my first priority even if it were open. I would save that treat for another Island.

My main priority is going to the Arizonia.

Where is a good place to stay close to the port? We will be flying in the night before to avoid any flight delay issues, traffic issues, etc. Something decent, but not crazy $$$$$!..

I've only been to Oahu, but can give my 2 cents worth on that island :rotfl:

Pearl Harbor is amazing....so moving...and of course the Arizona is a must see.

The luau I did was at Paradise Cove, next to where Aulani is now, I believe. I think a luau is more than just the food, but an insite into the culture too.

The 1 thing that Disney is really missing out on (or having us miss out on), is 1 late departure from 1 of the islands so that we could do a luau. Just think- they could do a shore excursion w/ a luau at Aulani & can you imagine how many people would sign up for that???

We do have 1 year before this cruise...hopefully DCL will be able to shift 1 port to allow a luau.

I agree with you totally!!

I guess I am surprised as well.

Hey I'm starting to get paranoid now.... First I get bumped off the spreadsheet roll call..... Then I'm not on the first page roll call!

What's a Champagne girlgotta do to get onboard round here?!!:confused3:rotfl2:

Hey Angel, we're not the founding members of the CG.....we are the co-originals. Put original one back in your signature.

I totally agree, The Old Lahaina Luau is authenticate so no fire throwers. But the entire exprience was just amazing. From the beautiful beach location with the sun setting, the local artisians with demonstrations, the wonderful food, Mai Tai in hand ;) and truly beautiful and moving show.

That's what I keep thinking, I can't believe they don't already have a show at their resort, so why not tap into that revenue opportunity? :confused3

:surfweb:

Lol....I see your point! Good to know someone who has stayed there, thanks :thumbsup2

Welcome aboard!:dance3:
