DCL stopped on-board luggage check-in for flights from the west coast. I really wish they would re-instate that policy.

We agree. I have bragged to people how DCL really takes care of you, even if you don't book your flight through them. To have my luggage picked-up from my cabin in Florida and not have to worry about it until I got home in San Francisco was wonderful. Even when I booked air with Princess I had to collect my luggage on the curb at the airport in Alaska and carry it all into the airport. LA port is still the foster child. I hope they keep the ship there but if they do will need to stepup the Disney magic feeling - it is pretty sad when you compare it to PC, but nicer then a lot of other ports.

just checking in :surfweb:we had lots of erosion damage from Irene:scared1: and our power was out for 7hrs but all is well  A big Aloha and Welcome to newcommers:cool1: I sent an email about the DCL policy :scared1:I hope they change it but its all about the MONEY

Welcome Aboard !

I noticed, wish we were there for Cinco De Mayo instead of Maui. It would be nice if DCL did something.

We were on the Inaugural Alaskan Cruise, and DCL did nothing, I mention it on the boards and lot of the Cruise didn't seem to intrested... alot of people did know what Cinco DE Mayo was....

Oh we are in if anybody wants to get something going....

5 days & still no power @ home :sad2: ...nice to be @ work where the a/c feels great!

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

I was on that cruise with you but did not discover the board until just a few weeks before we sailed. If we were going to be at sea for Cinco de Mayo it would be worth trying to make our own celebration, but since we are going to be on excursions until after dinner time possibly, probably not. Maybe a few weeks before sailing we could see if there was any interest in arranging a meeting at one of the bars for drinks after sail away to toast the Mexican holiday??

We are going to be in Hawaii the first week in May, Lei Day is celebrated that whole week. Will need to see what is available once the 2012 schedules are posted. Maybe we could do a combo- Cinco and Lei Day celebration - Pineapple Margaritas anyone??

I forgot we were going to be there for Cinco de Mayo! Party!:woohoo:

I forgot to mention that I got some of my FE gifts this past weekend. I was in vegas, and there's a disney store outlet there, and there were tons of $1 to $2 items.
I got loads of stuff!

Doesn't it feel good when another thing is checked off the list ? :goodvibes

Sorry about not having power, that stinks !! Hope you get it back soon.:wizard: I would think they would have a deck party for Cinco De Mayo. I could be wrong.

We will definitely be having the Champagne Girls Tasting because I buy the champagne directly from DCL.....they love me!!!

I bet they do !! :rotfl2: Can't wait for this ! :woohoo:

I didn't know they didn't take care of the luggage. Hoping they change this by April. I still need to figure out transportation from port to airport. Might get the transfer one way.

Sounds like fun.

Boy there is alot of celebrations for this cruise. :goodvibes I have never had a pineapple margarita..........that does sound yummy.

I'm not sure but I think it is a good guess that Disney changed the luggage policy because they had to conform to the newer security requirements at the airport. I don't think luggage would pass security if not turned in by the actual passenger flying with it.

I think the Fantasy Transatlantic sailing will be when she will be brought over from Germany. The Dream didn't have passengers so most probably it would be the same with the Fantasy.

No idea about the others.

I know that the Dream Transatlantic was listed on the website as well. Contrary to what a lot of people think, she did not sail without passengers. They were not normal paying customers, but family of the crew were allowed to join their loved ones for the Transatlantic. I don't know if they only did this as the Transatlantic was over Christmas or if they will do the same thing for the Fantasy.

I have to say any Margarita is welcome, pineapple or otherwise.

I heard on Sunday that the liquor policy has really tightened up on DCL. 1 bottle of champagne, 1 bottle of wine, 6 bottles of beer per person!

I am afraid this is really going to cramp my style.........any comments? :confused3

I agree with this post, usually it's not 'Disney Cruise Line making the changes, but they try to conform with the airlines, and what they allow.

Already has been recinded so nothing has changed.

My guess for those sold out cruises would be they are chartered by a company or something to that effect, just a guess

One of my co workers took the sailing on the Dream from Germany to Port Canaveral. Since she's done so many cruises, and she didn't expect too much in the entertainment area, she and her husband had a great time. I would have loved to do it, but not with Patrick, I am afraid he would have been whiney and dissapointed.

so we didn't do it.

Since we have sold our house in Orlando and have move to The Villages,:banana::banana::banana::banana: I no longer have my Bright House email.

So if you would like to have our new one, please PM me, and I will send it to you!

REALLY!

THAT'S GREAT.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I CAN'T WAIT TO GO INTO WORK TOMORROW TO HEAR THE UPDATE! ALL OF US WERE TOTALLY SHOCKED. HARD LIQUOR IS NO PROBLEM, YOU KNOW, THE WATER BOTTLE METHOD, BUT WINE AND CHAMPAGNE ARE JUST A LITTLE HARDER!

Since our younger son, Michael will be working in Palo Alto when we cruise, I think we are going to go out to San Francisco a few nights before the cruise and take the Amtrak train to LA from SF. It sounds like it's just a day trip and the scenery will be great. I expect we will stay at a hotel near the port the night before.

I also think we will rent a car when we are in Hawaii, because the excursions aren't really handicapped accessible, and we are in the US, I think we will be better off just doing our own thing. Although I would like to go to a luau through Disney. perhaps we can do our own transportation, and just book the meal and entertainment thru Disney.

Really (think the way Dr. Evil says it). I knew people were getting all upset over nothing. It just never seemed right. The info was way to vague.

Gosh we sat under a tornado warning for 5 hours on Wednesday....Tornado reported to have touched down just outside London, but has not been confirmed. I grew up in Barrie and had my house destroyed in the '85 tornado, so get a little freaked out.

I would say that a tornado is pretty common, we have quite a few in southwestern ontario every year.

I used to live in Northern Illinois and we "sat under a tornado watch" most of the summer. Didn't really make a dent in our lifestyle, unless the kids were walking home from school or playing outdoor sports, like baseball or football. Just something to live with I guess.

Since I live in Central Florida now, I worry more about the lightning storms than hurricanes because they come almost every night!
