We are going Oct 26th-Nov 1st.. That is going to be the DH's Mickey fix, because he is not going on this cruise with us. I am excited for WDW almost as much as Hawaii!..But, I think alot of the excitement is watching my boys have so much fun, and to see the excitement on their faces!.. It's more about them than it is me! pirate:

We are taking no kids or grandkids this trip, so....it's all about ME!!:yay::dance3: (Well, and then Dennis too, of course! :rolleyes1)
We are going the week before Christmas.

We will miss you by a few days. We are there Dec 7-14

Yup, Mike graduated from Duke Law in May. He's got a position at Simpson Thacher in Palo Alto. He starts in October!

Hurray for Ted too! :yay: Connie

Yay for both!! :yay: I love it when the kids get a job.

Happy Weekend, everybody! Hope you all have fun plans. I will be spending time w/the DDs and DGDs again. Can't imagine life w/o them .

Yes, I think you need the extra room for sure!

Yup, even the dog's a girl. I was joking w/DH that we should answer the phone "Joanne and Wayne's House of Estrogen." :rotfl2: DH is wonderful w/the girls and they adore him right back. :grouphug: <Guess which one is Wayne. ; )

Hahaha.....tell Wayne I feel for him because I live with the same opposite thing!!! (And they're all tall and I'm short!)

Again, YEAHHHHHHH for Michael and Ted!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the height thing is the same here. I'm all of 5'2" and DH is 6'4". Everyone in my family except my DGDs is taller than I am, and with them, it's just a matter of time!

Connie, hope we get a chance to see you in Dec.:grouphug:

We have moved to The Villages, which is an hour north of WDW. So we won't be able to pop over at the last minute. But if you let us know you are there, we can come to WDW to visit, almost like tourists. I am still with DCL, at least for now. so we still have tickets, anyway.

OK then, we will keep in touch. Maybe you will be working and we can stop in and give you a hug.

Hey all! So I spent the bulk of last night and this morning catching up with this thread.....haven't been on since before we went to WDW on Sept. 1st. We got back last Sunday---had a great trip and first time cruise on the Dream (I'm very behind in blogging....need to post about that trip this week if I get a chance).

So I've read/skimmed most the pages and I think I'm caught up.

I know there was lots of discussion about the facebook group and a list of DISers-----Jason and I are not on facebook but we're definitely willing to be on the list (and we don't care about first and/or last names really). I don't know exactly what the consensus was although I think it was to use the google doc...which I support....but I also think someone mentioned that they think the google doc is a hot mess right now----some people have cancelled the trip and at one point it got all messed up, too, didn't it? Did it ever get corrected?

Also...I saw someone asked about the status of the fish extender groups....but I didn't see an answer...was there one? What is going on with fish extenders? I've started to think about our goodies and pull things together and I've been basing it thus far kinda on the premise that we'll have about 25 rooms to exchange with. Does that seem right?

Also....just to let folks know, I have gone in and updated the lanyard list now. I had several emails waiting for me when I got back and so those additions and revisions have been made. I also added baby Orlando's name to his family's listing....and I removed "thej" family since they posted they were cancelling.

Just on a related note....if you're on the lanyard list and you cancel, or you know of someone who is and does, please shoot me an email or a PM so that I can update the list.

I have done it in the past, most recently for the Panana Canal cruise. I have been told by several people at DCL incuding my friend in Shoreside Conceargie that is the way to do it. You just can't have more than 4 rooms and no more than 10 people linked together.

Interesting....they must have changed this then. We took my parents and my niece on their first cruise a few years back and our rooms were linked (actually adjoining rooms)...but the only way they would let us make reservations for their cabin for Palo and excursions was to shuffle people around and put me in one cabin and Jason in the other so that there was a Castaway member in each cabin. This other system sounds like it works better (and our traveling buddies on this cruise will probably be happy to hear it, too, because they're both gold and we'll be platinum for Hawaii)!

Good Afternoon. Hope the weekend is going well for everyone.
Trying to catch up with the thread. It has been a busy summer with the new pup and all. Also, too much time spent on Facebook.:goodvibes

So far our plans are pretty vague as what we are going to do.
What we would like to do is rent a car on each island and just explore on our own. Will see.

So Erik has been pestering me about lanyards and Hawaiian shirts, etc. So I figured it was finally time to post a quick message and introduce myself. :thumbsup2

I recognize many of your sigs and I'm sure I'll remember even more of your faces once we get on board. I'm just not very good at keeping up with the DIS and even worse about posting anything. I'm much more of a drive-by lurker.

I'll be rooming with Johanna (renegade7) again on this cruise and luckily she is much better at planning and organizing than I am. So between her and Erik hopefully I will not miss out on anything. :cool1:

Since my last big cruise in Sept '10, I started a new job and my first contract is in Orlando of all places. So on top of all the money I send to The Mouse for cruises, I now have an AP as well. It just kills me every week when I fly into MCO and see the signs for Magical Express and know that I have to just go get my rental car and drive to work. However, in 2 months of being on the job I have already squeezed in 9 days at the parks! And I managed to go on the Dream for 4 days for my birthday!

I'm very excited about this cruise - never been to Hawaii before - and I will TRY to skim through posts every once in awhile. Just PLEASE keep doing a great job of keeping the important info on the 1st page. It's so helpful for us slackers! :rotfl2:

Looking forward to meeting you all!

This thread has been pretty quiet this week. I know some people are on the TA bringing back the Magic.

We are going to to Mickey's BBG at Fort Wilderness in Dec. There will be eleven of us including six children ages 4-9. Does anyone have any suggestions for this event. I know it is outside, What happends if it rains? I also know from experience that it can be pretty cold there in Dec. Any advice would be appreciated.

I too was wondering about the FE groups. It is probably too early to make any final decisions since people are cancelling and new one are still joining.

Get there early so you can be one of the first in so you can get a table next to the stage. It is a covered event but can get cold. Dress in whatever you would wear to the parks in the evening.

And oh how I envy them!!! Last year's TA was the best cruise we've taken. There's nothing quite like 14-night cruises. Wait! Yes, there is...a 15-night to Hawaii!

I also know from experience that it can be pretty cold there in Dec. Any advice would be appreciated.

Last Dec. we froze our kiesters off! I highly suggest you bring layers. We piled on everything we brought and we were still cold. This year who knows? I guess we'll find out since we are going again this year. :yay:

We also love the long cruises. Last year we spent 25 days on the Magic when we did the BTB- EbTA and the Med. It was wonderful. There were quite a few of us that did that and we had a great time.

I will be checking Weather dot com for sure just before we head there. We have found it very cold early Dec a couple of times, fairly warm a couple of times and just about perfect with a sweatshirt at night a few times.

Yup, I think you can get just about anything in December in Florida.
