Hawaiian names....I'll look in my book for some of the missing names as it is not a strict translation. It takes the meaning of the word and then translates that meaning into Hawaiian.

Here is the best I can do without the book.

How about KALA....

Start with Gydell....no help there. Nothing listed. Was it sometype of a family or place name?

What are other spellings, several come up including Gydel - which is a male name. Perhaps add the other "l" for a baby girl?

So what does Gydel mean - again no help.

So I found this.... People with the name Gydel have a deep inner desire for travel and adventure, and want to set their own pace in life without being governed by tradition.

That sure sounds like me! My name is one of my mom' friends name.

OK, So I have my documents, and it is 4 weeks tomorrow until we leave for USA (We are spending a few days in San Diego first). So, I am starting to think about packing for myself, my hubby, my 2 tween girls and my baby boy, and quite frankly, it's hurting my brain!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

We are away for just over 3 weeks total. So I am thinking 3 weeks worth of nappies (diapers), wipes, food, etc. There's 1 whole suitcase. I was reading a few post back about the delivery service on the ship, I think I need to look further into this.

Oh and, What about food? Will Disney make food for my baby? Or do I need to bring it all? He will be 9 months, so still eating mostly mush. Will they bring me a plate of mashed or well cooked veges? I can give him fruit from the buffet for breakfast. And can i order a sandwich from room service for lunch for him? HELP!!!:confused3:confused3:confused3

I have my Hawaiian name, Hayley = Hailei
And the rest of the family, Terry = Keli, Lucinda = Lukina, Arabella = Alapela, Orlando = Olanako. I really like all of them and am very tempted to have a whole new FE made with our Hawaiian names.... :rolleyes1

I read someone got moved out of the accessible room and got upgraded, anyone else had any pixie dust? Didn't think it would happen on this cruise as it's so booked, but you never know.... ;)

Can you call Disney Cruise Line without it costing a bundle??? Before you do anything else call them and ask about food for baby..explaining he can eat well cooked veggies smashed etc. They manage to feed my adult daughter who is allergic to 80%+ of the foods the rest of us eat with no issue so I think they would be prepared for older babies eating "solids" sort of. If it is too costly please post that and i will be happy to call them from Seattle (I have free long distance) and talk to them and let you know asap. If they know ahead what you need they are usually awesome about providing it. Also ask about price and availability of diapers.

I have finally had a bit of time for working on the general lay out for our Navigator. I will spend the next 4 weeks filling in the gaps.

I have included the following activities in the navigator, but for some I still need extra information:

Little Person Meet (contact SanDiegoSteph)
Stateroom Tour (contact - San Diego Steph) - further information needed
Poker Tournament (contact - San Diego Steph) - awaiting confirmation of date, time and venue nearer the time
Palo Group Brunches (contacts lgough, San Diego Steph, ) - need participants for each group, dates and times confirmed nearer the time
DIS Alternative Luau (contact San Diego Steph) - need information

If you are waiting for confirmation on something from DCL, could you please let me know as soon as you have received this?

Can anybody think of something that I have forgotten or that should be added?

Corinna

YIKES, I'm POC for a lot of stuff!! :scared1:

I'll PM you some updates, Corinna - thanks!

When should I start getting worried about not having my cruise docs?

Jan -

Didn't you use a travel agent? If so, the docs will usually go to them first and then they send them to you. I just got mine last Saturday so you should look for them this week. If not, contact your travel agent.

Dale (Hawaiian name Kaila)

Hayley:

I'm here in San Diego - right by Sea World - so I would be HAPPY to get stuff for you here so you don't have to schlepp it all the way from Australia for goodness sakes!!! :sad2:

Just PM me a list of preferred brands and size of diapers, wipes, food etc. and I can pick them up and have them for you when you arrive. That way you can just pack them in your rental car for the drive up to LA when you are ready to go.

It hasn't been so long that I don't remember what a royal pain it is to travel with a baby - let me help you!

Bob just came back from his dr.'s appointment and we stopped at his favorite GW on Haight and Ashbury to look for vintage Hawaiian shirts. He found 3, one from the 60's, orange, brown and black and one made between 1940 -1970 (he dates them by the labels) that is lime green and cream. I found him a Tommy Bahama that he let me buy him, black with bird of paradise (much prettier then the ones he found). I got two Catherine Coulter books.

Good job...now you have me wanting to visit GW...

We traveled with 2 babies that were 13 months and still eating soft mushed up stuff. DCL was able to see to it that they had yummy stuff each meal. Mashed potatoes, soft veggies, mushed up pastas

Me too! Probably not nearly such good luck here in Missoula, MT as one would have in San Francisco, but sure worth a look!

we go the the vintage clothes stores and thrift shops looking for vintage Hawaiian shirts. At least here in the west coast, we find tons of them in the thrift stores. We often find them with the tags still one them, $100 shirts for $5. I guess people buy them for, or on, vacation and then find they don't wear them and send them to the Goodwill or Salvations Army. .

Maybe I'll be hitting the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores when we come a couple days early to visit my nephews in Canyon Lake. Gonna be doing some shopping there for a few things we don't want to take up room in our suitcases with on the air flight.

My little niece (8 months old) just got off the Dream a couple weeks ago, and the Main Dining Rooms had pureed food for her.

Val, you have me totally looking for shirts too! Ha! Too funny. I was looking at at thrift store and found an authentic one from Hawaii but it was way too ratty and old looking. Will keep checking at different thrift stores hoping to find the same treasures you guys have found!

DH will bring a sports jacket, dark slacks, a white shirt and one tie for formal night and a blue shirt and different tie for semi-formal night.
Jan/Kana

my DH has a beautiful almost new sports coat and 2 pairs of nice pants that we cannot find since we moved! I am hoping we'll be able to move some boxes to find them before the Hawaii cruise. He wore a nice Cuban-style silk shirt and pants on the Fantasy for the Captain's Gala a couple weeks ago.

Hey Padalyn:

We now have #5022 (SanDiegoSteph1)

and GoofPrincess is in #5624

Can you change your spreadsheet?

Thanks!
Stephanie
Got it - I updated those changes last night, but thanks for the check! The more eyes the better ;)

I have updated the three master lists. Will update the individual groups tomorrow.

Corinna
Thank you!

Howdy Neighbor!!!! We are in 8562

Amy:yay:
Hey Amy!!! Have you read any reviews of deck 8? I've not been that high on the classic ships, I read they are noisy because of the chairs on deck 9. Not that this will really affect us - we only sleep about 3 hours a night on a cruise usually :scared1::scared1:

To address a few comments about why we were given that room - we had requested it, and it is always with the understanding that we might have to give it up. DCL tries to accomidate all requests. I do not think they are overloaded from the Fantasy, I think they are just putting together the final rosters. I am sure there will be more changes over the next week or so - plus there will be changes at the port as people are moved up in the ship. DCL usually tries to get the full pay guests as high on the ship as possible, unless there is a specific request. We were very happy with that cabin, but of course if someone needs it - so be it. For those who were wondering the cabin was 7636. We like the extra space in the bathroom - between Michael (for those who know him they will understand when I say he needs a LOT of bathroom space) and myself - we have a LOT of products!!

My cruise docs showed up today - FedEx was a different item all together (my bad!). But the docs are all wrong since the cabin was changed this morning. It doesn't even show online yet.

Sigh - now I have to redo my FE gifts...all 98 of them

Cayla aka Kaila (don't like the spelling, I think the pronouncation is most likely the same)

I know the feeling...we moved 4 yrs ago...packing up 37 years of stuff....just finally found the last of the missing items a few months ago when we had the whole family come empty the garage, put in more shelving. Rule was no cardboard could go back in so we finally emptied every box, even if it was just to move into plastic storage totes. The main missing items were all found :)

You COULD buy diapers in Hawaii.....that way you would only need 1 week's worth. JUst a thought.

I contacted my travel agent AS SOON AS I HEARD about the accessible room availability, but it must have been promised to someone else. I am still hoping to get a verandah, oh, well. :cloud9:

Been there. And you are right, I think Jamie did her fair share of rice and pasta when she was there on CP.

She has to go re-certify her dancing or something like that for this summer. I fly home from the Fantasy on the 8th, she flies to Florida on the afternoon of the 9th, spends 18 hours in Orlando, just long enough to go Tues. a.m. for her dance thing at Animal Kingdom. She is hoping she gets into parades this summer, that is her goal!

OH! Good luck to her! I think that's wonderful! She must be a very talented young lady!:love::love:

Absolutely .

John gets a hot stone massage every cruise and since I can't have a massage.....it hurts too much, I have fibromyalgia.....I get to throw a champagne girls party with roughly the same amount of money. I think mine is way better than a massage anyway....hahaha.

I'm sorry you can't get a massage.....I have fibromyalgia and it really helps me. I have one every week! I had this Romanian guy do my hot stone massage on the Fantasy....I had him on the Dream last year.....but I am having a senior moment right now and I can't remember his name....anyway, he has GREAT hands! I DID have to tell him to be more gentle on my calves because of my vericose veins, but otherwise........wow!

This will be our 6th cruise on deck 8 between the Wonder and the Magic, and we love it. Every once and a while during the day we might of heard a chair getting dragged across the deck but not enough that I even remember. We are also midship on this cruise which I think is the best, pop right up the stairs and your in the middle of everything on deck 9. When we did our EBTA last year we were forward under the couples spa deck so we did hear a lot of draining and refilling of the hot tub. I think you'll love being on 8 and look forward to meeting you and Michael, my hubby is also a Michael:thumbsup2

Amy

I gave all my scraps away, but wouldn't mind one bracelet if you get more from someone else ....pretty please :)

I bought a "j" crochet hook today.....If I don't have time to make the bracelets before we leave, we can work on them on the ship! Connie

Let me know if you need any help, I would be happy to bring a package of diapers (or two!) since we have just a short drive to the port. I am just always thinking worse case scenarios and how would I handle them! LOL

I wondered this to, BUT, I have to hope that they make it!. I will bring a few extra other than what is in the diaper bag, and if worse comes to worse, I will have to buy them on the ship, and hope that I can get more cheaper when we hit the first island. I have already paid for the delivery service, and I would hope that if they didn't get delivered as promised that they would reimburse me and maybe even a little extra for having to pay the ship prices if I had to purchase them.
