Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

ThreeBritts, it sounds like you HAVE had a year. Glad you are able to make it, dispite all the troubles. SO sorry for the loss of your nephew. Just horrible to lose a child.

I've done went and forgotten WHERE to find this spreadsheet of which you speak. Can you give us a reminder, please?

Happy Day, all!

Wanted to get in here and post tonight and apologize to everyone about being out so long. The last 6 months have been some rough times between my 16 year old nephew dying in october and my mom having major surgey 4 weeks ago. I wasnt positive up until a week ago when we paid if we could even make it for sure..... but we are going and now very much looking forward to it!

Heather

Heather-
Sorry for your loss and the rough year you had. I can relate to being happy it's a new year.
Just realized we are practically neighbors. My MIL lives in Seminole. Just noticed on the roll call your daughter is going. If you don't mind me asking, what school does she go to? We are on the MV of the Fantasy and my oldest is going to have to take unexcused absences for that trip. So, I have to plan future cruises around school. Plus, my DH can't take the time off now. So, it's just my best friend and I.
I will be meeting her in California. When r u guys travelling? I leave the 27th via Southwest. Not the most direct route but it was on points and free luggage.
Your username looks familiar. I'm wondering if we have cruised before together?

Ella, despite many hints for a cruise, my husband totally "blew" our 25th anniversary. However, with the help of one of our friends (a Disney expert) he made up for it a few months later - he gave me "an event" in the Magic Kingdom. You know - rose garden, settee, diamond bracelet, wedding cake, wedding ears, glass slipper and sweet words, followed by fireworks. THAT is a hard act to follow, especially for $25:rotfl:

Linda.....that's just too funny. But I'm glad he got it right a few months later. In our family, I already know that if I want something John will make me plan it, then he'll do it. He'll let me do whatever I want though. So I'm thinking maybe the $1500 cruise party on our 25th. I have time before we get there so I'll keep it in mind.

I'm really happy to go along with whatever the group decides on. It sounds like there are some who want smaller groups & some who want one large one, so hopefully by dividing into groups of 20 or 25, those who want to include more people can just sign up for one, two, or however many groups they want. (?) I guess t depends on how it all comes together. I've experienced it with all options & it was really just on the ebta in 2011 that it was weird because so many groups had very few who were just doing one group.

But the only "rule" for FEs, that I'm aware of anyway, is to just have FUN with it, so we can structure it any way we want, most likely!! :hippie:

.

I agree.....and the other rule for FEs is that you can do whatever you want. If some want to do only their floor they can or if some want to do the entire ship they can or if some want to do 25 they can. I was always told that FE gifting is whatever you want to do and that there are no rules.

Ok, can someone kind of give me a summary of what the Fish Extenders (FE) is?
I've read the first page and everything, but I'm still completely lost..:confused3

Now about the FE, friends have kept me posted and I know from what ive read the majority wants groups which I think is great and like a poster said I will also print sheets with everyone on it so if there are people who want to give more they can. I think groups of 20-25 is the best solution as we are a big group overall and there is alot of traveling involved for everyone and space might be limited.
I also wanted to wait until everyone had to be paid in full which I found out some people have until feb now ( how are they so lucky lol) so we could have definite numbers but there is still alot of maybes on the spreadsheet which makes it tough to narrow down.
Please update the list if you were a maybe to yes or no so I can start working on the groups!
Looking forward to a much better 2012 and meeting everyone including old and new friends on this cruise!

Yikes. Sorry to hear about all the troubles...but glad to see you're back and still cruising with us...and looking forward to more news and updates about fish extender fun! :)

Well the creator of fish extenders is actually on our thread with us (ahem---EpcotKilterFan aka Deb)....but they're basically a hanging organizer/mailbox system that people hang from the fish clip outside their door and then your DIS friends and family come around leave little gifts and goodies for you (and they're also a great way to find your room when you're walking down the hall! :thumbsup2:lmao:).....kind of like a christmas stocking minus the fireplace and mantle! :rotfl2: People decorate and design them in fun colors with their names and favorite characters and some are super elaborate. They're just a cute fun way to decorate your door/room AND socialize with your cruise friends to make your vacations even more special!

"floors?" I do believe ships have decks.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh my, Heather! Sorry to about that! Hoping you have a much better 2012 also!! :wizard::grouphug:

I don't know how many of us are ordering from places like "Oriental Trading" for some of our FE stuff, but 24 is a good # since they tend to sell in lots of 1 dozen. ;)

It looks like our friends have dropped out on us, they moved to the October sailing - which works for them since one is becoming a grandma during this cruise - so wanted to be home for that big event...and the other got a short term assignment and will be working St. Petersburg, Russia through the summer...totally understand...and good for them.:dance3:

Does that impact my lanyard list? Were your friends on it and now don't need lanyards?

I received a number of requests for shirts after the ordering process was closed. There may be shirt overruns available. I have started a waiting list, in the event shirts are available. If you would like to be added to this list, send the quantity, size and your DISboard name to me at Valbob89@aol.com. No money will be required until I know if they can fill your order.

Thanks for asking, but no - I removed them from the list a while back when the told us they 'might not' make it - they just made it official by cancelling their booking. So we are OK. :thumbsup2

I've found my FE gift idea - and have made the command decision to make 100. I LOVE to make stuff :)

The Heaven & Earth helicopter tour in Kauai is up. I just booked it. They had two times, 8 something and 9:15. I booked 9:15.

I did not see an Oahu helicopter tour listed though, I did go to that page to check for additional times for the Haunted tour (still listed at 6:45 AM)

If you have extras you can drop one by my place :cool1:

I love how creative the FE gifts have been, but I am going to do Secret Mickey this trip instead of FE gifts.

Good luck!!!

I would love to do FE's but we simply cannot carry too much luggage.....the old story....wheelchair, bedrails, etc just take up a lot.....are we doing groups by any chance? I saw a really cute idea for an FE at the cast member store before Christmas, but I would really rather be in a group.

PM me if anybody knows. otherwise, I guess we'll just drop out of FE's this time.

Connie

Disney has bed rails for you to use.:woohoo:

I think we tried theirs, but they didn't seem to work very well on the regular bed. I think they are made for the cots or the sofa beds. Ours really doesn't take much room, it comes apart and has it's own travel bag. I just like to complain.
:laughing::laughing:

And we are here to listen and be supportive until we are all on vacation and enjoying ourselves on our disney ship

You are my hero! My husband and I just made our first FE as a Christmas present for my parents who will be on this cruise with us! I must say, it turned out great! Now, we must make another one for us! :)

We use the Disney bed rails, but on the sofa bed so don't know how they would do on regular bed. My daughter uses a hospital bed full time now and we are trying to figure out how to tweak the sofa bed for her need. On Alaska cruise it was one week so she just had the bed rail and a lot of pillows, thinking she could handle it for that long. But 15 days is a lot longer plus we have a week+ time on the road in hotels before that. She is most comfortable sleeping with head elevated (upper body actually) but MUST have left arm elevated at night and feet raised somewhat. Thinking of buying a "study" pillow if we can find one this time of year..so she is sitting more upright at night, more support for pillows under her arm and requesting lots of extra pillows for under her feet. We are so spoiled by her adjustable bed I have forgotten how to improvise:)

Do they actually count the wheelchair as luggage??
