Hey all-----

question for folks who have sailed on the classic ships more recently (I haven't been on since Alaska in May)-----have they changed the format of the pirate night and pirate party on the classic ships, too? We were on the Dream in Sept and thought the new pirate night was just DREADFUL....but we were under the impression that it's staying the same on the two classic ships----more disney character focused, line dances like at sailaway, fireworks at the END of the show, etc.-----anybody know have all the ships transitioned to doing it like the new ships?

The name of the hotel is the Doubletree San Pedro. Here is what was posted at one time about the group hotels reservations-----
"Hi. For anyone that didn't see my post on the Disboards, I have group space held at the Doubletree at San Pedro for pre-cruise rooms. I am waiting on confirming prices for hotel rooms at Candy Cane Inn; Queen Mary; Paradise Pier and the Hyatt Regency. If you are interested in staying at any of these places pre or post cruise let me know by email to Bweiss923@aol.com or call me at 215-219-5400. I'm ready to party, are you? Bev aka mickeymom923"-----
You might want to e-mail her because I believe there are more hotels on the possible group rate list now. But the Doubletree is the one by the pier...all the others are at Disneyland. My daughter and I are driving down from Seattle and plan to stay at Doubletree before cruise and at Disneyland after the cruise.

The Queen Mary is also an option by the pier. We plan to stay there provided Bev gets the group rates she was quoted.

A few pages back, one or two people commented on the time for the Haunted Hawaii tour in Honolulu. As we really wanted to do this and the time is obviously (at least to me) wrong, I contacted DCL. Their response was that it was the correct meeting time and it doesn't matter that the meeting time was before the scheduled all ashore time "because you meet on board and they collect tickets". When I tried to explain that a 6:45am meet time gave them 45 minutes at least to collect a couple dozen tickets and I'd be upset if we really had to get up that early to sit in a lounge for the better part of an hour. The point of all this is I'm going to try to talk to someone in the excursions when they get in. I'll report if I get any info. But if someone else hears anything (or sees the time change online), I'd appreciate if you could post. Thanks.

The biggest question about this tour is the fact that the writeup on the Disney Cruise Line page says this:

This tour is not theatrical but rather a "story-telling" experience. Some places do not allow entry at night, so guides will stand outside the buildings or location and impart their knowledge.

Which gives the impression that this is intended to be a nighttime tour. Not sure how a haunted locations tour is going to go off at 8 in the morning. I wasn't planning to take this tour (at 6:45 AM I'd be deader than the ghosts) but my friend was - at nighttime, in addition to a daytime tour. If I'd been considering it at all I don't think I'd consider taking it in the early AM.

Maui excursions: I looked at my scheduled excursions this morning and it seems DCL guest relations supervisor did get us booked on the 9:15 am excursion we wanted. (it was showing an age restriction for us and would not let me book) But, I don't think the site is loaded correctly yet because it does not give the name of the excursion, just the time and that Dennis and I are both scheduled. At least it seems they are working on it. :thumbsup2

Wow, I just spent the last 30 minutes catching up on all the posts!

Congrats to everyone who got the reservations/excersions that they were hoping for! :cool1:
FH and I are silver members so we have awhile to wait until we can book, but hopefully there will be some stuff left. At least we'll be on the cruise and we'll be newlyweds :bride: so I'm determined to have a great time no matter what happens!

My sympathy to those who lost loved ones. I just attended a funeral for one of my good friends who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 22. :sad1:
2011 has been one of the hardest years of my life, so here's hoping that 2012 is a better one! I have a feeling that it will be.

I'll be getting married to my best friend, going to Hawaii on a DISNEY cruise for the honeymoon, then we are planning to move to Orlando so we can be closer to DisneyWorld and hopefully I can aquire a position with them!

I can't think of a better year than that :cheer2:

I was on the Wonder at the beginning of October. As a disclaimer, this was my seventh cruise, but it was the first time we made the Pirate Party. I am glad to have done it once to get it out of my system, but I doubt I will do it again. Because it was my first time, I have nothing to compare it to. It started with a deck party with bad music, hyper cruise staff and the "good" characters dressed as pirates. This got then hijacked by the villains (Captain Hook and Co.) and continued on as deck party for a bit, but with a darker tone to it. Eventually Mickey ziplined in and saved the day and then there were the fireworks. I don't know if this is the old format or the new one, but I cannot imagine that they could make it any worse. I loved Mickey ziplining and the fireworks, but the rest of it was just a waste of time.

Secret Mickey

Operation Secret Mickey is back to the drawing board. The spreadsheet just turned out to be not detailed enough and too confusing. So instead we have decided to go with a Google Docs form. There are two different forms, one for people taking part as individuals and a different form for people taking part as couples, families or groups (maximum of 4 people for family or group). Even if you had already filled out the spreadsheet, can you please fill out the form as I will delete the Secret Mickey tab on the spreadsheet shortly. A big thank you goes to Stephanie (Brooklyn for pointing me in the right direction)

AW!!! That's the original pirate party....and we LOVE it! :lmao: I love all the characters and all the music they do all the dancing to (Proud Mary by Tina Turner, Believe by Cher, Maniac from the Flashdance Soundtrack....and Holding out for a Hero as the music for the fireworks)----it's so uber-gay! LOL

I am hoping that's the pirate show we get on this cruise, as well. I know you didn't like it, and that's totally cool....but the pirate show on the new ships is even worse, I promise! LOL

My grandchildren will see the Pirate Night for the first time this summer. I hope the weather is good so Mickey can zipline. HOpe to be PIF by the end of the week.

Question:

If we don't have our cabin number yet, should we wait to fill out the form?? :confused3
Also, is there going to be more information given about it? I think I understand how it works, I just want to make sure that I follow the guidelines.

Hey folks!

I know that there haven't been many posts recently about the lanyards since there's been so much else going on and we've still had lots of lead time to plan....but time is (THANKFULLY!! :thumbsup2) starting to dwindle...and before you know it we'll all be arriving at the port in Los Angeles and headed on our WONDERful cruise to Hawaii!!:banana:

That means that Jason and I need to start doing some serious planning about lanyards including finalizing the design and placing the order so that materials all get to us in time to do all the prep work before the cruise (...and all that added on to the fact we are ALSO preparing for our wedding a week before this trip!!). We've had a little burst of new lanyard requests in the last few weeks and I appreciate everyone who has already made their request....

...but I wanted to start putting out reminders now----
1.) If you want FREE custom lanyards for this trip---as a keepsake and/or a way to connect with other DISBoard cruising friends, make sure you send your info (DIS name(s), "real" first names of everyone in your party and one room # per traveling party) to me at dcl.hawaii.lanyards@gmail.com as soon as possible.

2.) Once you have made your request for lanyards (even if you did so a long time ago), please visit the most up to date spreadsheet by clicking HERE. On that spreadsheet (which is in alphabetical order by DIS names), please double check to make sure that your info is correct and complete. Any revisions can be sent to me at the same email address (dcl.hawaii.lanyards@gmail.com).

3.) Also, as you look over the list, if you see people who you know have incorrect info or have dropped this cruise, please let me know (many folks have already emailed me to let me know they've dropped or switched, but some may not have).

I am not putting a definite deadline on lanyard requests just yet....but be warned that I will soon (I'm thinking the hard deadline will be sometime in late January or early February). At that deadline I will probably order enough lanyards for every person on the current list plus a few extras (probably rounding up to the nearest 50 or 100)----because I don't want to be responsible for carrying hundreds of extra lanyards in my luggage!! :lmao: Anyone who is on the list at that time will definitely get lanyards. Anyone who requests AFTER the deadline will only be able to get them on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last ----- so the moral of the story is, if you think you might want lanyards, don't wait...request them now!![/I]

I am happy for you that this is the version you love. That is the beauty of a Disney cruise - there is definitely something for everybody.

Please fill out the form now and then just let either me or MGirl know when you had your room assigned. We are hoping to get partner's out by the middle of March and there is a possibility that you won't have your room assignment by then.

I posted some more information about 5 pages back. Here is the link to this post:

Erik, when I click on the link, it tells me that the document does not exist.

The one I want for Maui is still unbookable for me. It still shows as it booking code. I want to book the IAO needle thing. When it comes to the Pirate Party I wish DCL would get rid of it. It is just a over glorified sailaway. I will just watch the fireworks from deck 4 like I have everytime I have sailed since I first saw the show.

That's the Maui excursion we wanted as well but it tells me that there is an age restriction (I told my Mom we must be too old for the excursion!!!!!)...I decided to book the other Maui excursion that went to the Plantation - the one with the Maui Ocean Centre....I did some research on the Ocean Centre and it looks really interesting and I am considering leaving our selection as is.

That was the same we were getting (still am thru the website), but a supervisor from Guest Services was able to get it booked for us. It now shows up on our plans for that day, but still no price or name of the excursion. The time 9:15 is on our plans with our two names.

I went to check our info on lanyard list and we have had a cabin change it is now 7638 :yay: and not 8094. Is there anything I can do to help you with lanyards? Definitely not in same area..live in Seattle area but I am driving down to cruise so no weight or luggage restrictions if you need anything transported due to weight overload:) flat rate box mailing is cheap compared to overweight luggage .........

I tried that. They were not helpfull. That's all good. I have a friend on the inside. That friend already fixed one problem and now will fix this. I am not to concerned.
