Read this thread.....I don't really like it....not that I dump my kids there every day and every hour, but we don't know when we will have this open house policy on our cruise...so how do you plan and book?

Wowzer!! Looks like it would take ALOT of planning, coordinating and then probably rebooking onboard once you get the schedule for the clubs. We do not have any kids with us this trip, but are thinking about taking grandkids of our friends at some point. (Yes, our grandkids grew up and now we are thinking we will have to borrow some!! ) I guess if we do that we will just not plan any adult activities that trip. I don't like it either.....

We are staying at the Grand Californian and would be interested in meeting before the cruise. We are arriving on April 26th.

We are arriving 22nd April and staying in a 1-BR villa at Grand Californian. We would love to meet up.

We are not DVC members and I have been trying to find out if there was a way we could get a room for a day, afford-ably, to enjoy the resort instead of an excursion. Have tried to live chat a few times but they are always busy to see if there is anything other than paying $455 for a room overnight that we will not use after 5pm or so.... Way expensive.....

I called them directly a month or so ago and they told me the only rooms you could get are overnight. They have no "day" rooms. We elected not to go there.

Thank you so much for the info!!! I found the group and requested to join. It said Krisann was an administrator. She is a facebook friend and I am not sure if she checks her messages because I sent her a message requesting to join back in November. I think I'm getting closer, hehehe.

Oh dear, this might be problematic. Not for booking, since my kids are old enough I can work that out fine, plus I think I read that there is one area of secured supervision, so hopefully no real lost time for bookings is occurring. But to have all the kids together in a single space for the secured supervision while the other is open house, could be problematic. DD doesn't like the sheer pandamonium of a crowded kids club, which is why she wanted to cruise HAL and not DCL - we had to do a bit of talking to get her excited about this.

Hi All,

DH & I (Bruce & Debbie) will be sailing on this Hawaii cruise - YAY!!! Wanted to introduce us to everyone and have a question for those that have already booked excursions...

We wanted to book the "glitchy" IAO Valley & Maui Tropical Plantation excursion & like others on here, we had to call. For those that called to book it, can you now "see" it online?

When I pull up our cruise online & go to our calendar, Maui day does show "port excursion" but when I click on the day I get a blank box (no excursion name or info). To the left of the blank box it says "9:15am - 1:15pm" and to the right of the blank box it says "Attendees - Bruce, Debra".

Is this the way it is for others that were able to book this by phone?

I just have to throw this in... We are huge Disney fans - this will be our 13th Disney cruise, we were on the Dream MV, we will be on the Fantasy MV, we own DVC, we're annual passholders, etc. Having said all that - Disney has the ABSOLUTE WORST websites I have ever had to deal with. How can such a technologically advanced company be unable to create websites that actually work??? I shudder to think what will happen on Jan 19th when DVC owners can start booking online!

Sorry for your loss and the rough year you had. I can relate to being happy it's a new year.
Just realized we are practically neighbors. My MIL lives in Seminole. Just noticed on the roll call your daughter is going. If you don't mind me asking, what school does she go to? We are on the MV of the Fantasy and my oldest is going to have to take unexcused absences for that trip. So, I have to plan future cruises around school. Plus, my DH can't take the time off now. So, it's just my best friend and I.
I will be meeting her in California. When r u guys travelling? I leave the 27th via Southwest. Not the most direct route but it was on points and free luggage.
Your username looks familiar. I'm wondering if we have cruised before together?

We live in Seminole. You are really close !My daughter goes to Classical Christian school for the arts in pinellas park. They have been really good, she only missed some time in October when we were in Iowa and she gets good grades so Im not too worried. We are prob leaving the 27th also since we have family in southern california and her testing ends the 26th. I think you asked me questions about the med after we did it 2 years ago. Glad your coming on this one, should be a great time and alot of new experiences with disney.

I would love to do FE's but we simply cannot carry too much luggage.....the old story....wheelchair, bedrails, etc just take up a lot.....are we doing groups by any chance? I saw a really cute idea for an FE at the cast member store before Christmas, but I would really rather be in a group.

PM me if anybody knows. otherwise, I guess we'll just drop out of FE's this time.

no.no.no connie dont drop out. Im thinking the groups will be 24 or 25 as alot of people have requested and I can make sure you get in a group. Those that want to give more can as I am doing. it doesnt have to be anything big but will be fun to be part of.

I finally have 3 days off in a row and can get some things done!
Working 12s can put a damper on ones social life!
Wed was our 20th aniv and hubby sent me roses to work which made my day! The cruise is our actual present to each other and places weve talked about for a long time
We cannot figure out what excursions to do though. I was actually kind of dissapointed in choices. I know were doing Pearl Harbor and a laui on Oahu but the other days we cant seem to agree on. I figured today ill just let tom decide and as long as im in Hawaii surrounded by beautiful,relaxing scenery Ill just go with it!

I see that there are a few people staying at the GC hotel. Is there anyone there willing to see if there is a place we can have a meet before the cruise. We are at PP and I don't think there are too many staying there.It is close for us to walk there. Another thought is a resturant in Downtown Disney but not being really familiar with the places there is there someone that can arrange something there?
