Good morning everyone - Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

Today we have some little hints that can improve your stateroom life. Some of which have been covered in discussion - some not.

1. Bring an over the door shoe hanger - you can use it for shoes, but also for the little things you need like suntan lotion, sun glasses, etc.

2. If you need to use a curling iron or blow dryer you might want to bring an extension cord as the outlets are not in the best place on the desk for using one.

3. If you want a little privacy from the kids bring a few clothes pins to keep the privacy curtain closed.

4. If you have connecting rooms ask your room steward for the small blocks of wood they use to keep the doors open. The block goes in the upper part of the door by the closer and keeps it open. Easy to remove if you want to close them at night.

5. If you get a sewer smell in your bathroom it is easy to cure yourself by pouring a cup or two of water down the drain behind the toilet (we've never experienced it but have read about the smell on the DIS).

6. If you have a family that makes it own smells you might want to bring an air freshener for the bathroom.

7. After you unpack it is easy to store you luggage out of sight under your bed. If you lift the corner of the bed half of it will come up easily to slide the luggage up.

8. Post-it notes or a small wipe board inside the cabin helps you keep track of other family members.

Hope these help!

Good Morning Everyone

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-DahMary, thanks for the Tips of the Day. :worship: It's getting so close. :cool1: Is everyone ready and excited. :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

I see a couple are posting coming in the day before. Good move. :thumbsup2 I had heard of some real horror stories on airline cancelations and others running late. Where they made it just minutes before the 4pm time schedule.

We are arriving on Tuesday and staying 4 fun filled days at CBR and WDW:banana:

Is everyone coming in early?

Everyone have a great day.

Hello everyone! We just found this site and all the tips have been so helpful! I just keep adding things to my packing list! We are getting so EXCITED! I have a couple of questions. This is our first Disney Cruise and the first time we've done anything besides a 3-day Carnival.

1) Is there a way to sign up for the character breakfast now? How does the whole sign up process work?
2) Has anyone created a day-by-day agenda? I am kind of confused on which days are the fomal and semi-formal dinners, etc. This will help with the very OCD excel spreadsheet I am creating with activites, matching clothes, etc.
3) I have never seen the magnetic room signs folks are talking about. What do they usually say?
4) Would it be tacky if I took a blender to make frozen drinks in my room so my DH and I can drink them on the verandah?
5) Is there a wayto know which is our "main" restaurant/dining schedule for the dinners now? Is there a way to request our choice?
I like the idea about the DIS cards in the KTTW holders. I don't have a holder yet, but I am guessing these look like something that I may have received from a trade show...
THANKS!!! Cannot wait to meet all of you! Now if I could only concentrate on work......!!!

We didn't do this for our first several cruises b/c I didn't want to deal with packing it. Once we started, we LOVED it. It DEFINITELY takes care of so much clutter--everyone gets a pocket and keeps their ID/KTTW card holder/sunglasses/etc in there. And then there is a pocket for the sunscreen and one for water bottle straps, etc etc.

Then if there are leftover pockets, you can always store toothbrushes/toothpaste/lotion/etc in them in case someone is in the bathroom and you need something.

It REALLY ended a lot of the clutter that accumulates. Plus, when it's time to pack up, anything that isn't needed for the next part of the trip (i.e. if you're heading to WDW) just gets rolled up in there and dealt with at home. :)

Hello Warren Family.

This is our 2nd DCL cruise; our first was a 'too' quick 3 nite on the Wonder. I can't help you too much with your questions, but I'm sure somebody here will. Nonetheless, I bet if you posed those same questions on the main forum, you will have pages of answers within 8 hours. Glad you joined us - I'll add you to our list which is growing daily. :thumbsup2

Welcome to the DIS and the DCL forums.

See below for the answers to your questions.

This will be assigned to you automatically on one of the sea days. Your server or head server should alert you to which day it is and they usually have a ticket for you. You eat at the same table you do for dinner.

2) Has anyone created a day-by-day agenda? I am kind of confused on which days are the fomal and semi-formal dinners, etc. This will help with the very OCD excel spreadsheet I am creating with activites, matching clothes, etc. Yep I have an Excel sheet all set up for the cruise and after. It helps me plan out our days. Formal Night is Sunday, Semi-Formal is Thursday, and I believe that Pirate night is Tuesday.

3) I have never seen the magnetic room signs folks are talking about. What do they usually say? They can be as plain or as fancy as you want. Usually it has your family surname or maybe your first names. The personalized ones tend not to "walk" as much. Ours has a picture of the Magic and says that we are sailing with our DIS friends. I think I have a picture uploaded already and if I can find it I'll post tonight. There is a thread on the main cruise forum with lots and lots of ideas.

4) Would it be tacky if I took a blender to make frozen drinks in my room so my DH and I can drink them on the verandah? Not at all. I wouldn't lug one but then I'm not much of a drinker. I know some DIS groups who brought several and had parties out by the pool.

5) Is there a wayto know which is our "main" restaurant/dining schedule for the dinners now? Is there a way to request our choice? Your dining rotation stays the same for the whole cruise as does your table number but you rotate between all the resturants. You can see your rotation on the KTTW card and most likely will have a ticket in your room telling you of it as well.

I like the idea about the DIS cards in the KTTW holders. I don't have a holder yet, but I am guessing these look like something that I may have received from a trade show...
THANKS!!! Cannot wait to meet all of you! Now if I could only concentrate on work......!!!

Hope this helps!

Everyone have a great day.

LDCRUISERS: The excitement, enthusiasm, and anxiety are all on full throttle. It's beyond words at this point, but I DID try to describe it a few pages back. To me, its like getting on the roller coaster. We're all strapped in now and heading up the hill. There's no turning back, we're all in for a fun ride. :yay:

Yes, anxiety is high too because (as Karen mentioned), we aren't ready. There is still more shopping and preparing to do. We're hoping to get everything we need this Saturday. So much yet to do. So exciting. However, I will say that I got the suitcases out of the attic Saturday (some still with the old Goofy tag), and we've started to throw in a few things we're going to need (e.g., bungee cords, night light, over-the-door shoe holder, snorkles).

Just 19 days away! It's so hard to believe. I know some have had this cruise booked for over a year. I've been waiting over 40 weeks myself, and now here we are . soooo close.

We watched (again) the DCL coverage on the Travel Channel last nite. popcorn:: It gave us goose bumps. :upsidedow

Funny you should ask about ready and excited. There is another woman in my company who is cruising the exact same week as us. In fact I think we'll be in St. Maarten together. Someone asked her this morning if she was excited and her comment was "not yet". I found that sad. Part of the fun for me is the anticipation and the excitement. That's why I love these boards so. It allows me to share that excitement with all of you.

I'm sure she'll have a good time but at the same time I don't thing anyone will have as much fun as this group!

:)

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 52-year-old woman accused of a violent fit of rage while waiting in line :crowded: at the tea cup ride at WDW faces up to 15 years in prison.

Victoria Walker, 52, of Alabama, was arrested on suspicion of beating and choking Aimee Krause, because Walker apparently believed Krause was allowed ahead of her while waiting to board the "Mad Tea Party" ride, witnesses told police.

Witnesses said Walker became enraged after the victim and her children were allowed ahead of her at the "Mad Tea Party" ride. :furious:

Walker was questioned after the incident and allowed to return to her Alabama home. However, when a judge noticed how severe the victim's injuries were, he signed an arrest warrant for Walker.

Walker was offered a plea deal that would have meant a year in jail but she rejected it. She faces a possible 15 years in prison if found guilty :guilty:

Wowsers..we are cruising in just a few weeks..WooHoo! List is done, getting ready to start shopping and packing..Should be a rocking time!

ZeroG

Good job on expressing excitement, enthusiasm, and anxiety. I can not seem to find the word to express the full anxiety the wife and I have at this time.

We have seen shopping since November and each time we go we find something else that replaces the item or items (in some cases) we just purchased the week or two before. The DW has purchased the dress for the formal night and Palo's back before Christmas, :santa: found another in January and just last week she has found the right one. The closet is now over full and all my stuff is now move in the hall closet.

We can not pin down one thing over another that we are looking forward to more than another. Looking forward to the meet, :grouphug: food, :stir: dessert, :cake: the sail away party, :sail: party: pirate night, pirate: relaxing at the pool and veranda, and catching up on the movies. popcorn::

Did not get a opportunity to watch DCL coverage on the Travel Channel.

I did watch the Magic leaving for the Western Caribbean Cruise on Saturday,
a thinking that will be us in 3 Weeks. 3 Weeks WooooooooHooooooooo!!!!

Mary - I agree wholeheartedly and to us so much is lost without the building of the excitement through the anticipation, preparation, talking with others and expressing one's excitement, enthusiasm, and anxieties.

Welcome Warren Family :welcome: :welcome::welcome::wave2:
so glad you have joined us. The Caribbean Crazy Cruzers is as Randy has posed the Crazy Cruizers list is much larger. It will be great, as we walk around the ship, at dinner, in the movies or show, pools we will may be sharing something with someone we know. How exciting!!!

All have a great day. Sharing the good life!!! :dance3:

Mary,

Is it to late to update some of the newer DISer to join in on the site info/April08/ photo index with the fellow travelers.
I think it is how I am going to be able to recognize some of our feller Caribbean Cruisers. It would be great if every one would consider posting on it.

Having a great day.

BUMBLEBEE3, We are going to Magic Kingdom Thursday and Friday so if you want to introduce our girls let me know.

Here's the group website: http://monorailgreen.info/April08/photoindex.htm

If you want to send me your info and picture please send it to marygums@covad.net. Please put April Cruise in the subject line. I'm doing this for another group as well and I don't want to get them mixed up. If there is nothing in the subject line it is most likely going to be dealt with as spam.

I apologize that I didn't get the plans portion updated. I got a few pms but never got around to them and anything that was in the thread itself is long since buried. Sorry guys but work etc. has been kicking my behind. :)

That is wonderful! I've been trying to lose as well but keep getting caught up in losing and gaining the same couple of pounds. Still I'm lighter and in better shape than I was a year ago. Great job! :thumbsup2

Congrats. That requires a lot of hard work and dedication!

It took me over 2 months to lose 13 pounds, and then I gained it all back.:sad2:

the only way to express my excitement in words is this:

OH MY GOD!!! WE ARE GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE!!!!!!!!

I am sure I am driving everyone at work crazy because this is ALL I can talk about. They will be happy to see me leave, I'm sure! :rotfl:

Did some more shopping over the weekend, we bought more luggage and just odds and ends. Bought myself another bathing suit too.

I am soooo excited. :woohoo: :dance3: :yay: :yay: :yay:

We FINISHED Packing this weekend!!!! I feel so relieved that it is all done. We are going to be in Disney for 9 days before the cruise so we needed alot (or at least we felt like we did) All together we have 4 suitcases and 1 carryon/overnight bag. I can't believe how organized everything is this year. It was very difficult packing formal stuff for the cruise portion of our trip. We had one Suitcase for me and Chris and then 1 for the two kids. Then I hoped to do one suitcase of just things we needed for the cruise, but that ended up being two. Does it sound like too much? Ahhh I feel like we are forgetting something. I woke up at 3am and remember that we needed to take our passports out of the safe so I did it right then and there so I wouldn't forget!
