Hello Myers Family
Pardon my ignorance, but are you sailing on the April 26 cruise?

This will be our second cruise (family of four - DS8 and DD5). I can offer a little help, but there is a wealth of knowledge in this "roll call."

For some great information, go to:
http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9
Ask any question and you'll get a ton of answers.

Or, if you have time, read some of the trip reports:
http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=10

And finally, some people highly recommend the book "PassPorter's Disney Cruise Guide" by Jennifer Marx and Dave Marx
http://www.passporter.com/dcl/guidebook.asp

Anyhow, we were pretty anxious about our first cruise. That's why we took a short 3 niter to ''test the waters." Looking back, that went by wayyyy to fast. So this time we booked the 7 nite.

Welcome Myers 5,

We are scheduled for for our 2nd DL Cruise. It is just the two of us. Our first trip we were wondering what to expect as well. You will have no trouble finding things to do from the 9 yr. old to the adults. (and especially the teens).

It's just DW and me. We were entertained from the moment we entered the ship (even before) to the stepping off. popcorn::

Even though we have an idea what to expect, (our 2nd cruise) we ordered the PassPorter to the Disney Cruise Line and Its Ports to call. It is a valuable tool for the cruise and gives step by step tips from planning for the activities including evaluations. :yay: The PassPorter is done so well that it lives up to Disney quality.

You will receive in your stateroom each evening the "Personal Navigator". It will give all the day's activities, destinations, dress, time, highlights, major events. and the list goes on. It's set up for each age group. :dance3:

In our local newspaper, the Associated Press, stating, Disney has reinvigorated the idea of family cruising.

You are all going to have a great time. I hope this helps.

Sharing the good life. :cheer2:

zerog~

Yes, we are crusing 4/26 to 5/3 with all of you, this is actually our oldest sons Make-A-Wish, we are getting ready to go into the hospital (2/25) for his 4th and FINAL round of chemo.

To the rest of you experts~

Please tell me how to get the passporter, I already have a Birnbaum's 2008 guide. . .

We (okay really I) have already planned and reserved slots on the excursions, and cannot wait. We planned the beach bash in St. Maarten, the Atlantis submarine trip in St. Thomas, and reserved some "toys" on Castaway. .. . can any of you recommend anything else? The remaining parts of the days in ports, I thought we could "shop".

sam2cam~ Our 9yr old son will be happy to know that there will be at least one other 9 yr old boy there....

I will make it a priority to read all the posts already on here to "educate" myself to the best of my ability.

Thanks for welcoming a new comer. .. .

Patty

Welcome aboard!

Passporter is a truly fan-written guide- Birnbaum's has been written by Disney for many years now and has become a rather sterile sales pamphlet than anything, sorry to say. The difference between the two is a yawning chasm.

As for the where to get one, I've seen it at Borders, and wouldn't be surprised if Barnes & Noble had it too. :)

Good Afternoon everyone. I know its been like 5 months since I checked in last time. Things have been so busy with the kids. We leave for our vacation a week early so its only 56 more days for us. We are all so excited. Can't wait to be cruising with you all!!!

Hi Myers 5

We purchased our PassPorter on line at passporter.com - shipping is free until Friday.:cheer2:

Welcome aboard Myers Family. I wasn't sure if you hit our roll call by mistake just looking for information. The more the merrier. Our son will be 8 years old at cruise time (going on 16).

http://www.passporter.com/dcl/ is the website for the Passporter. However, the 2008 version won't be released till March 15. They are taking pre-orders right now. Rumor has it (i.e., don't blame me if I'm wrong) that they are sending snippets of the 2008 book to pre-orders. :upsidedow

Its wonderful how people are starting to come out of the woodwork as we get closer and closer to our sail date. Well, as I mentioned previously, reality is starting to set in for many of us. The excitement is building! How many people are on this roll call? Some folks are listed on the monorailgreen website that I've never heard from (e.g., flahippy and footnotegirl).

The cruise always seemed so farrrrrrr away. This Saturday marks a MAJOR milestone - our first single digit countdown (in weeks to go)! :thumbsup2

-------------------
Now I don't mean to rub anyone the wrong way (ok, maybe I do a little :snooty: ), but I took the kids to the pool Sunday. It was 80 degrees and breezy. No snow! :) The kids spent most of the 3 hours in the water, while I laid in the lounge chair (no sunscreen....). The next day I was just slightly sunburned, and I have dark skin.

So what I'm trying to say is, in April it's as good as summer in Florida and the Caribbean. If this Fla Boy can get a little sunburn in mid-February, you can only image what it will be like in late April for folks with fair skin. Please heed all the warnings about staying hydrated and use sunblock like its going out of style! :cool2:

I think my DW bought our passporter off of wam-mart.com . Zerog on the other hand it is 13 degrees here in south western NY with a 11 mph wind. still no news on my passport yet

PDFG and for all that need it

Hi to all the newbies! :)
I'm ohiominnie.....
I'll be sailing on my (lost count) Disney cruise.
It'll be me (40), dh (40), dd (13), ds (11)

Good morning everyone!

Patty sent me her family info so I'll try to get it up on the website in the next couple of days.

She also mentioned buttons and I'm sad to report we won't be doing them. Up until a few days ago there were just so few people posting that we didn't think it was worth ordering the supplies for it. Sorry.

We can, of course, still have a DIS meet on board. Typically we've had them at 3 pm on Deck 10. On our last few cruises some people said it was a little too hot up there for them. So what would everyone prefer? Deck 10 or maybe down in the promonade lounge at 3pm. 3 pm is usually a good time because it is before the safety drill but after everyone has gotten on board and has had time for lunch.

3pm meet sounds good for us (Either deck). We plan to get on the ship early (Group 1!), so we can get first dibs at the pool, lunch, and reservation changes (palo brunch and early seating).

Mary - would it be practical to post people's plans on the monorailgreen site. For example, create columns called "Palo," "St. Thomas," etc. to show when and where everyone is going? Maybe even a column called "spa," as I reserved a hot rock treatment for DW on the 2nd sea day. No biggie if you don't want to do this.

AMERICAN IDOL: Does anyone here watch AI? We watch the show but never vote. This season, there is a hometown contestant - Robbie Carrico, a rocker from Melbourne, FL. That is in the same county about 40 minutes south of Cape Canaveral. Maybe we'll have to start voting. If you watch the show, you may enjoy reading Linda Sharp's reviews at:
http://dontgetmestarted-lindasharp.typepad.com
Also on her site, she recently took the Eastern Caribbean Disney Cruise and has a short trip report.
