thanks for all the Epcot opinions. I have considered staying until Sunday, but it seems like airfare on Sunday is more expensive, and we are already looking at $1,500 or more for the 4 of us. Have to think on it some more! I am sure we could spend the night at my SIL's house who lives in Orlando.

Speaking of which, they are coming to visit next week, so I have to get the house ready.

Good morning everyone. Happy Monday!

So Karen - how did you enjoy your first day as the mom of a teenager?

Never did get a call into Member Services on Friday so i'm going to call today. We're booking a one bedroom (hopefully standard view) for the Saturday, Sunday and Monday after the cruise. Can't stand to be that close to the Flower and Garden festival and not go. Plus since we don't know what other plans we'll do in '08 we want to get some WDW time in.

No blow ups! YEAH! :)
Luckily it cooled off a bit so our campfire wasn't stifling hot! We made pie molds! :) And Mike's dad shot off illegal fireworks which I always HATE. No one lost an eye, so that's good!

Karen, I voted! Happy belated birthday to KT!

Our weather is just weird today...overcast and gloomy. Hopefully it will burn off, I think it will!

My SIL is flying in from Florida on Thursday. She will stay with my other SIL until Sunday, then she is coming here until next Thursday. My BIL's (her brother) wife (well, I could have said other SIL, but don't wanna confuse you all) is mad that they won't stay at her house, but SIL said she will never stay there again since they fight so much and she doesn't want her kids around that. Can't blame her. Those two are awful, constantly arguing over stupid stuff. This is the BIL who said "oh, let me know when you are going on the cruise, maybe we'll join you guys". So we are still telling him we are not sure we're going ;)

Anyway, trying to get the house ready for guests. She isn't sure if her husband is coming, but she is bringing her 2 kids. My nephew is 4, and my niece is 11, she is 4 days younger than Josh! We are excited to see them, they haven't been here in a long time!

Kaylee started swimming lessons today. She can swim, but has a hard time keeping her head above water. She swims like a fish under water or with her mask on. Yesterday was the swim test and today was the first real lesson. She had a blast! It will last 2 weeks, which of course cuts into my SIL's stay. I am not sure what they want to do while they're here but they'll have a rental car, and maybe I'll let Kaylee skip a day so we can go to the zoo with them or something.

Hi,

I voted too! Good luck.

I am leaving for the airport at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. It's going to be a long day. I booked whale watching as my middle dd wants to be a marine biologist.

have fun! I'm jealous!

Good morning everyone. Happy Wednesday! Nasty storm rolled through yesterday afternoon just as I was ready to leave work. Karen did these get to you last night. Today looks like a beautiful day and cooler than the last couple so that is good.

Have a great day everyone!

The ones last night weren't as bad as the ones that came through around 11:15 yesterday morning. They came from the SW though...so you didn't get them. I was ready to run to the basement with the cat. And now we have lots of branches down in the yard.

I WON!!!!!!!!!!!

THANKS FOR ALL THE VOTES!!!!

yay, Karen! I knew you'd win! Congrats! :cheer2:

Well, I am really not sure what to do here...maybe you all can help me. I told you guys my SIL is coming from Florida this week. Well, I talked to her yesterday and mentioned the cruise and she totally insists we stay with her Friday night! She lives in Orlando, 30 - 40 minutes from the port. She says she wouldn't have it any other way. It's not about the money at all...$140 for the hotel room is nothing at this point, if you look at the big picture! However, I really wanted to BE there already on Saturday morning. And you know how it goes when you stay with family, you never leave on time. You talk, talk, talk, and then you are running late before you know it! I really want to be AT the terminal at 10am. For one, I think it would be cool to experience the drive over the bridge that so many DISers talk about, and seeing the Magic for the first time! On the other hand, I worry that something will come up, traffic, getting held up in Orlando, etc. that we'll get there late! I am a bit OCD (ok, a lot) and I schedule things in my mind and something like arriving 10 minutes late can really ruin my day. I know, I know...it may not seem like a big deal to you guys, but I can't change that about myself ;)

I feel bad for flying all the way out to Florida and not spending the night at my SIL's since we really don't see them all that much, and I don't want to be rude. I was hoping I could ask them to drive down to Cocoa Beach on Friday and spend time with us at the hotel, and then go out to dinner with us, since it'll be my birthday. And then booking a late flight on Saturday and spending time with them at their house until we have to leave for the airport.

What would you guys do? Spend Friday night at SIL's in Orlando, and attempt to leave their house at 9am, or spend the night at Port Canaveral?

Spend the night in Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach. Without question. For every reason you list.

I love your idea of having them come over on Friday night to celebrate your birthday, etc. That should be a happy medium. Or, so as to not inconvenience THEM.....you guys could drive to Orlando Friday night and do the birthday celebration there, then go back to Cocoa.

Good morning everyone - happy Thursday.

Kay - only you know what is best for you and your family. We've stayed both at the port and at WDW before the cruise and they were both easy. As long as I'm in the state the night before the cruise I'm good. In fact we are staying at Boardwalk the night before our October cruise. We'll go to Mass Sunday morning, grab a quick breakfast at McDonald's and then over to the port we'll go. Last May we stayed at the Hampton Inn in Cocoa Beach and were able to take a walk on the beach Saturday morning before heading out to breakfast and the ship.

I will say this comment concerns me. I've seen a number of people on the cruise boards over the years like this, even sailed with a couple. One ended up having the cruise cancelled and pretty much had a meltdown about it. Now don't get me wrong I'm a big planner, but I've found over the years that lifes to short to worry that much. It is a lot better if you can go with the flow a bit.:thumbsup2

Oh I almost forgot...only working 1/2 a day today. Took the afternoon off and we are going to go see Harry Potter!

We're going tomorrow morning at 10:30 ($4 tickets before noon--can't beat that!)

I've got so much to do to get KT off to camp* on Saturday (5:00a.m.) but we just must go see the movie! :)

At the camp meeting last night they said "only send clothes that you don't mind getting totally destroyed, it's very messy." Ok....I don't typically buy crap clothes because my kids are pretty neat. So I'm hoping that this was an over exaggeration on their part! I mean....DESTROYED? Really?
