Are the parks empty in the hot afternoons? Is it humid in May? We have been toying with the idea of going to MGM or Epcot after we get off the ship in May, but there is no way I will do it if it's really humid!

I've been sunburned in late February and it has snowed (if you want to call it that) in March. By the first of May, it could be in the mid 70s to the upper 80s depending on cloud cover, rain, and wind.

*** NOTE: Be aware that you can get sunburned on a cloudy day! It's not the direct sunlight, but the UV rays that go right thru the clouds. ***

Anyhow, the first of May is a good time to visit the parks. Its not TOO crowded. MGM and Epcot won't be as bad as MK - but be sure to get on the popular rides early in the morning (Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster at MGM; Soarin and Test Track at EPCOT). IMO, the Tower of Terror is the scariest ride of all the Disney parks.

:3dglasses If at all possible, Do NOT miss the late nite show, Fantasmic at MGM. popcorn::

WDW ANNUAL PASSES: What we did was - bought one premium pass and the others were seasonal annual passes (with blackout dates). With the premium pass, we got free parking!! The blackout dates are during the really heavy seasons, like summer, so we wouldn't be going to the parks those days anyway.

well, IF we go, it'll be Epcot or MGM. Not interested in the MK, since it's pretty much the same as our Disneyland here! Been on ToT at California Adventure, and I agree...it's the scariest. Kids keep asking to go back there so we can go on it again. I tell them Disneyland is SO much better! :rotfl:

Sorry have to totally disagree with you. Don't get me wrong Disneyland is great and is the original, but as a total resort it can't hold a candle to WDW. Both resorts are better is some aspects and not as good in others. For the total package give me WDW!

we will most likely go to the MK and EPCOT the day the cruise gets in we still have a couple of days left on a park hopper we may try to buy new 5 day park hoppers and get credit on the old ones. we would like to go on the POTC and HM after there rehabs and on the river de tempo most likely make reservations at Chefs de France for dinner

no, that's not what I meant at all! I meant Disneyland in comparison to California Adventure. We have only been to California Adventure a few times, and to ME, it can't hold a candle to Disneyland. I just don't get the "magic" feeling there, you know? I agree that WDW can't hold a candle to Disneyland, it's so much bigger, more to do, more to see.

Now, if you're talking about the MK at WDW in comparison to Disneyland here in CA, the reason I am saying we are not interested in visiting the MK if we only had one day at WDW is because MK and Disneyland ARE very similar. We have visited the MK at WDW once before, and that was the only park we have ever visited at WDW. I would rather see MGM or Epcot this time.

Happy 4th of July!

Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Good morning everyone - happy Thursday!

Hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July. We spent a very quiet one. I worked on some circle journals from our last cruise in the morning and in the afternoon we did some planning for our October cruise and road trip. We have the cruise booked of course and our Disney stays (Boardwalk for 2 days before and Hilton Head for the day after). What we hadn't booked yet was our stays in NC and TN on the way home. So we finalized all that, made all our reservations, and Mark printed out the maps for our trip. Now we are ready to go! OK well we're ready but still have to wait 15 more weeks!

What did everyone else do for the 4th?

GWhat did everyone else do for the 4th?

Wrote some blog posts. :)
Went to see Ratatouille.
Played games with the kids.
Made home made pizza.
Scratched the crap out of my poison ivy!
Weathered a nasty storm.

Yup, I think that pretty much sums it up. :)

Randy we are wondering what kind of weather we may be looking at for the cruise. We are hoping for clear skies and sunny weather just bought a new Jimmy Buffett book to read relaxing by the adult pool that is if we can get chairs.

Woo Hoo - today's the day Karen answered my questions on her blog! I knew you would give great vacation advice Karen - that's why I asked the question. Well done!

For those of you who haven't visited I highly recommend reading Karen's blog. She has a very down to earth way of looking at things and there is lots of good advice to be had in her blog.

How long ago? The MK has made some great additions in the past few years, Mickey's Philharmagic, they revamped the old 20k Leagues queue area into Pooh's Playland, In tomorrowland they just opened the Monsters Inc Comedy Club, and a bit ago Stitch the Ride, the two parks are not that much the same any longer. What I would say is not limit yourselves to just a whole day in one park. You are probably going to run out of things to do at any of the four far short of a full day, as you're going to discover a lot of the rides are the same ones out by you, parkhopping can give you the best of both.

And the fact is CA has a lot of the best of both MGM and Epcot in it. I get the opinion from a lot of Californians that they don't like CA. From a theming standpoint, I don't think Disney was really targeting you guys in building it. From someone like me who has never been to anyplace else in California, it was a good introduction, I thought the show with Whoopee Goldberg was fascinating, I've never seen a wine vinyard in person, and the boardwalk, which I understand is a representation of some famous one on the coast, is fun :)

And I think you'll be disappointed in MGMs Fantasmic. I've seen both and like the DL one better.

And on that point, I don't think either place is overall 'better'. Both DLR and WDW have their strengths and weaknesses, and it isn't just about how much acreage, but how it's used.

oh, it's been a few years...probably 5 or so. :rotfl: You are right, there probably have been a lot of changes since then! ;) Truth is, I wish we could spend a few days at WDW after the cruise, but I really don't see it happening. The kids will already miss 6 instructional days at school, plus I also work at an elementary school and they don't really want you to take vacation as it is during the school year if at all possible. I have a terrific prinicpal though who is ok with me leaving for a bit over a week, but I don't want to stretch my luck!

our 4th of July was great! We swam, had friends over, bbq'ed some burgers and had salads with those. Then, later on we went to our local fireworks show! Was thinking about the Disney cruise as I watched and got all teary eyed!

I finally broke down and ordered a new computer from Dell. This one is 4 years old and well, it's really slowing down a lot. I think I'll wipe it give it to the kids. I am excited, but it's always such a pain saving everything and switching it over. It won't ship until the 18th, so I have plenty of time, and I guess I will finally burn all of the photos I have on here. I am really bad about doing that!

Man, you didn't give me the chance to talk you out of a dell and into a Mac. :)

I knew *someone* would say someting about a Mac! Well, I am a PC gal, sorry! :rotfl:

Hey, anyone watch Big Brother during the summer? It's on tonight! It's my guilty summer pleasure!

I'm a Big Brother fan (or as Mark calls it Oh Bother!). :lmao: Some interesting twists this year. I know who I would like to see out of the house already.
